DR Jose - did you mention something the other evening about a relative having a Filipino restaurant in Arlington, VA?  DH Richard and I will be staying in the Crystal City area in June and I wondered if we'd be near it?

My godmother/aunt has a Filipino restaurant called Little Quiapo.  It's in the Arlington Forest part of Arlington, right off of Route 50.  However, it's not exactly near Crystal City nor Metro stop.

However, let me gather up my list of restaurant recommendations for Crystal City... -If you want some wonderful Afghan kebabs, there are two competing restaurants right on 23rd Street (off of Jefferson Davis Highway).  And one of them is open 24 hours.  *Just make sure you don't confuse them with the "Gentlemen's Club" next door.  ;)

But Jose, isn't what you're saying like saying the film of CABARET is no longer Joe Masteroff's CABARET or that the film of WEST SIDE STORY is no longer Arthur Laurent's WEST SIDE STORY or the HELLO DOLLY film is no longer Michael Stewart's?  And taking it a big big step further for GREASE:  At least the film of GREASE retained many of the Jacobs-Casey songs, just about all the Jacobs-Casey-created characters and much of the Jacobs-Casey dialogue.  I'm sure the book of the new revival will be 90% Casey-Jacobs.

Your recommendations are always most appreciated.  Of course, I'd rather have a guided tour, but I'll wait until we get to NYC later in the week for that!

Yes and No.  I think.

I need to write a more well thought out post/response when I'm more fully rested, and not trying to beat the clock since I really should be in bed by now - I have auditions to play in the morning.

But, I guess the best thing for me to say at this point, and this will undoubtedly lead to many more questions for me... I really shouldn't be saying anything until the show is up and running.  I've been fortunate to be a part of the initial casting of this upcoming production - and I think I will continue to be.  I've simply been a pianist for some of the auditions.  But that also means I've been "in the room". And I personally know some of the contestants and finalists.  I am very much coming from a totally subjective - and judgmental - point of view.

And I guess I should just leave it at that for now.

And since I do have some auditions to play for tomorrow - final callbacks, in fact...

Goodnight.

Just kidding.  If there's stuff you can't talk about, that's easy to understand.  But it's also clear that Jacobs has or had control over what gets done in this revival, and if he signed that control away, he must have done it of his own free will.

"Pet" in French means "fart" so your sentence could end with a gas! :o

Good casting but.... GYPSY again?!?!?

What about a drag version of it for a change?!
