Well, you've read the notes, the notes were the best, worst, and okayist, and now it is time for you to post until the best, worst, and okayist of cows come home.
-
And the word of the day is: STRAVAGE!
-
Morning all.
That is all.

We watched Gilda on Saturday. Having never seen it, I must say I was impressed. Miss Hayworth was great and both her numbers were dynamite. I didn't expect the ending.
Spoiler Alert.
I thought one of them (Glen or Rita) would end up sleeping with the fishes (metaphorically).
-
Last night we watched an AWFUL (IMHO) Doris Day movie I had never heard of called Caprice. The leading man was Richard Harris.
It was a spy spoof done in 1967. Her rat bastard husband, Marty Melcher was one of the producers. He must have owed somebody a favor. Boy, was it bad. It wasn't even funny bad or campy bad, it was just bad. I'm not surprised I never heard of it.
Drew Casper was in one of the talking heads section calling it an under appreciated movie. What a pile of bull. It's a bad movie.

The weather yesterday was gorgeous and it's supposed to be the same today.
Oatmeal, walnuts, a plum and cinnamon. And a cuppa coffee.
Bye for now.
-
Good morning all!
Well, I head from Angie at Angie's list. She said they are having a problem finding folks to donate to my cause. I asked a about Lowes and she said that they declined to help. Boo on Lowes. Maybe if someone needs to post something on their Facebook page they might change their mind.
No much else going on. Had another laugh at work yesterday if I told you about you would shake your head in wonder.
Vibes to all who need them. Lest we forget, today is 9-11. My thoughts and prayers go out to all who lost someone on this date, be it 2 legged or 4.
Have a wonder filled day.
-
Good morning, all.
Up too early, and it goes without saying: coffee!
May it be a GOOD day for all.
-
Good morning, all! Eleven years ago today, I was sitting in London's Henry Wood Hall, working on a recording of Victor Herbert's LADY OF THE SLIPPER with a great cast and chorus, the London Sinfonietta, and an insane conductor. When Maestro McGlinn got too irritable, to egocentric, George Dvorsky and Hugh Panaro, our leading men, went up to the manager's office to kill the time peacefully watching television. They shortly came down to report that a plane had hit the World Trade Center. Since McGlinn was raging at everyone, I decided to follow them back upstairs and watch the events. For all I knoew, some small aircraft had lost control and hit the building. I had no idea it was the end of an era.
I wasn't in Manhattan, but I imagine the day was a beautiful one, similar to today. I will shortly head down to Toyland. I hope I hear today about this crew showing up. I'm out Thursday, and I would like it it finished by Monday.
Also, no word on my apartment AC either. Frustration!
-
I am feeling under the weather, and perhaps it's thechange in the weather? When I went to bed, I thought I was getting sick and I slept poorly. I feel better now but I'm treading cautiously.
-
As I'm preparing to head out for Toyland, the roster of Trade Center victims began. They just mentioned my friend Myra Aronson, who lived in Boston, not Manhattan. She was a passenger on the first plane that hit the Trade Center. Myra was a Miami University student who lived for years with my college friend Matthew. When they broke up, Matthew moved to Brooklyn and I don't see him often enough. He was the principal heir in Myra's will. She was a good lady.

Because Fall SETC is scheduled for the week after Labor Day, I usually end up flying around the anniversary of 9/11, or, like today, right on it. In fact, I was in the air from DCA to MCO on the One Year Anniversary.
It still feels a little strange to be flying on a day like this. However, there's also a sense of resiliency and maybe even courage knowing that life has continued to go on, and that in some respects, it's business as usual at the airports.
-
In other news...
I will never order the HOT Chicken again from Holeman & Finch.
::)
-
Tuesday morning greetings! As I was 11 years ago today, I'll be in Dayton most of today. Noontime meeting with the grantwriters, then coffee with one of my favorite former co-workers. Sue and I were together in telephone reference when news of the first plane came across the wires, so it seems fitting to spend some time together today. She retired earlier this summer.
-
Travel vibes to DR Jose...

DR Danise - I really hope everything works out for you.
-
Tuesday morning greetings! As I was 11 years ago today,
I'm a little groggy from grabbing an extra bit of sleep, and read that as "I was 11 years old today..."
-
I was riding a bus to the county courthouse when I noticed that the flags were flying half-staff at the Army reserve. I watched the events the rest of the morning on the jury assembly room television.
-
I don't know about the movie, Arnold Brockman. But you've come to the right place! I'm sure someone here will know the answer.
-
Otherwise...
It's a very slow and quiet morning here at ATL. I guess it a combination of a Tuesday and the anniversary of 9/11. I made from check-in, through TSA to my gate in under 10 minutes.
-
PAGE TWO!!
-
And... Boarding will be starting soon
Laters....
-
That sounds familiar, Arnold M. Brockman. I remember seeing it as a kid because that was how I learned about that legal concept. Hopefully someone has the answer. I'd like to know, too.

Rebecca Luker singing "All the Things You Are." A great mid-morning treat.
-
FJL, I think have you thank/blame for getting me to download "The Sex Is in the Heel" from "Kinky Boots." What an addiction. Hard to sit still at work while it's playing. I can see why it's a dance hit. Very 1990s, "Vogue"-esque. Yet I can see it working in a theater.
-
Yes, the movie sounds familiar.....but no title from me.....

This sounds like it. Could this be a remake of the original?

I didn't look at all of them, but here's a list of "wrongly accused" movies:

I'd written about that song charting in the Times comment box under this article

Was that where you heard about it? (I may have mentioned it on ATC also.)
(The recent incidents that tease at a bridging of the gap between show music and the Billboard charts have been fascinating to me, though I know we'll likely never get back to the old days. it's more like spotting when it happens than anything. And this seemed like the first time in 30 years, so it felt wworth noting at least.)

From DR Jose:
Oh...
I read that first sentence as...
"I just baked brownies for my book discussion group pot lunch tomorrow."
I saw this & quickly double checked I had typed pot-luck lunch. ;D
-
DR Jose every month we have a different hostess, who also picks the book & leads the discussion. I have been the coordinator of the group. This means I keep all the info up to date, contact everyone if there are problems, send reminders, find substitute hostesses, get flowers for those who have life altering events, etc. This year was an unusually complicated year. Hopefully this upcoming year will be free of incidents.
-
Eleven years ago the pot-luck lunch was at my house. You can bet I was not about to volunteer to host September's meeting this year.

And...
I got my two boxes packed up, taped up, labeled and shipped via UPS down to my brother's place in Fairfax, VA. I had originally planned to take care of that stuff in the morning, but when I checked the UPS for shipping estimates, I noticed that's it's no longer automatically one day shipping via ground from NYC to Fairfax. -It just goes from one hub to another (NYC to Dulles). So, I bought two boxes and get them prepped, packed and shipped.
Which means that I can take it easy tomorrow morning before I head to JFK to fly down to IAD. I'll most likely end up at City Bakery for breakfast - especially since I brought back some Made In Atlanta Chocolates for the owner, Maury Rubin. It's become sort of a tradition: I bring him back chocolates from the cities I visit. In turn, he gives a wonderful pat on my hands and free food. :)

I was hoping to see my friend, Brendan, tonight or tomorrow before I left. Alas, he's stuck out in Vegas taking care of some stuff for his new job. He just got hired by Hawaiian Airlines, and he starts training out in Honolulu in two weeks. He thought that if he did get hired, he wouldn't be starting until sometime in January based on their past hiring cycles, but... Surprise! I'm very happy for him especially since his current airline, Colgan - which was a regional carrier for United/Continental - officially closed up shop last Monday. I was hoping to see him to give him a great big hug before he heads west. I'm gonna miss him. He's been a great friend.
*At least now I can get buddy passes to Honolulu. ;)

That is hysterically funny. I love how one of the women is wearing a "Company" shirt.
I'm glad you liked it, DR John G.
I still remember thinking when it originally aired, "Who the hell is gonna get the true "in" joke in this short film?" And it's obvious that Chris Elliott has a fondness for the original source material. :)

And speaking of Elaine Stritch and David Letterman...
There's THIS (http://youtu.be/mmU2dt2TbU4).
:)

And now I need to get ready to head down to 54 Below for tonight's concert by Jason Robert Brown.
Laters...

Is that the airline that used the slogan, "Colgan take me away!" That could be why they went out of business. LOL!

I'm close to breaking one of my personal rules... don't quit your job unless you have another to go to.
Hang in there DR Matthew!!!!
-
DR Danise I agree with DR TCB. Contact the AC show.
DR Danise - I went ahead and Twitter'd @Anderson and @AndersonCooper as well as cc:'d @AngiesList. You never know who just might be checking their social media accounts.
:)

Gotta love those posters, MBarnum. Thanks.
Ditto.

Matthew, life is too short to hang on to a bad work environment. It is best to find another job first, but you have to take your mental health into consideration!

This is hilarious, isn't it, Jose? I watched it recently with my sister when I was visiting. We both thought it was great!

No packages, can you believe it?
-
...and speaking of AC (not air conditioning)....there is this amusing video (I wonder how Anderson feels about bears?)

Congrats on the review, BK!

Have you guys seen this parody of "Call ME Maybe".
It is set in a bookstore and called "Read It Maybe". Very funny.

BK, did things get back to normal on the web site today now that the host is back to normal?

Well, I'm off to a TAO Board meeting. I think we'll find out if our fund raiser actually raised some funds...I'm sure that it did. :)
Be back later.

JohnG, there have been no further problems on the Kritzerland site. The host is now saying it was not hacked at all but that the problems were a combination of internal things going wrong - they say they've implemented safeguards from it happening again. So apparently the jerk who was taking credit for it was an even bigger jerk than we thought. I still think he should be exposed and ridiculed to the world.

Yes, he should be verbally strung up.

Caught up with Noel Coward's "This Happy Breed" tonight and the Ronald Neale interview also on the disc. Highly enjoyable. And what a cast: Stanley Holloway, John Mills, Kay Walsh, Celia Johnson.
Night, all.
-
And...
Jason Robert Brown, Shoshana Bean, The Caucasian Rhythm Kings and special guest(!), Tony Danza, put on a great show tonight at 54 Below. And there were a couple of notables in the audience tonight too: Hal Prince, Daisy Prince, Ted Chapin, etc., etc...
And the food was pretty good too... And it turned out that the Head Chef at 54 Below is Andre Marrero who is a fellow alum of VCU.

He gets along with bears very well. Or so I've seen heard.
-
DR Matthew - I say "Move on". Don't hold on to something "not good" when the "good" comes along.
-
And...
Frankly...
I'm tired. Very tired. It's been a long week, and tomorrow will be a sort of long day.
So...
Goodnight.

ATTENTION PLEASE! BREAKING NEWS IN THE GARDEN TODAY!!!
1. I saw my first monarch of the 2012 Fall Migration.
2. My saguaro cactus in the front yard has the beginnings of its first arm. (This happens at about age 75. I have been watching for almost 32 years since we moved into this house.)

Back from seeing RAIDERS OF THE LOST ARK in what is fake IMAX but a glorious presentation nonetheless.

Trying to get through a big piece of southern fried cheese called Steel Magnolias on Blu and Ray.

Southern fried cheese actaully sounded really good until I realized it wasn;t foodstuffs.

We did! We did make money! We now have a nice little pot o' dough and our up-coming production will be an evening of one-acts, co-produced with another local group, Prodigal Son Productions. We'll have eight performances over two weekends. :)
