Even though I'm Irish (with English thrown in as well) I have no memories of Saint Patrick's Day. I don't celebrate it as anything. I don't feel the need to do so.

The idiots in New York who claim to be Irish (many may well be) and use it as an excuse to drink themselves blind drunk and then puke all over the streets are revolting examples of Irish stock and I refuse to partake in the silliness.

Baseball??? As I said regarding camping a few weeks ago, are you crazy???

Actually, it's not as severe as that but I've never played baseball and I have no interest in watching it. Unlike football which I loathe, mainly because it's been turned into some kind of faux religious experience, I don't dislike baseball, I just have no interest in it. I also have no interest in most major sports. Hockey "I went to a fight last night, a hockey game broke out". Basketball, I'm 5' 3" tall now, I was shorter in junior high and high school. I was harassed in gym class because of basketball. I do not care for the game. I do not understand it and I do not care to learn anything more about it.

And that, ladies and germs, is the end of my rant.

I must go to the bank and open my 2006 IRA.

Bk, yes the play had mulitiple-narrations from Red Barber and Wendell Smith (doing the major part), Mrs Rickey, Jackie's mother, his wife, etc.  But since it was done as a memory play starting and ending with the Hall of Fame ceremony; I thought it worked effectively.  The scenes seemed to flow pretty quickly using only lighting changes on different parts of the stage.  The only set was the baseball diamond and the bleachers.

If you are interested, I would be happy to send you a DVD of our production.

I hope to get to SUPERNATURAL, ANDY BARKER, P.I. and THE PERILS OF PAULINE on the DVR this afternoon and early evening.

And if the Blu-ray of CASINO ROYALE comes in the mail today as I'm hoping, that's what I'll watch tonight. If not, I'll put in the Blu-ray of A HITCHHIKER'S GUIDE TO THE GALAXY to watch.

I should think you'd reserve today for Green-Rays only.

We only have street parking out here, and the car is walled in by the plows.

An interesting approach to having the streets ready for use after a storm - plow the surface and bury the cars!

TCB, I'd love to see the DVD.  It sounds like the play is the same and that the director might be the "pace" culprit.  The show was certainly done simply, with most of it done, as you say, through light changes.

We toured Ireland with the Dady Brothers, who are from New England but tour all over. After a day of sightseeing, they would playing in the clubs, and if no clubs were avaialbe, musicians from the area would gather at our hotels and they would have jam sessions.

The Dadys are extremely talented musicians and can play a variety of instruments...in a variety of ways!

I decided, several months ago, that I had no desire to see the Michael York's touring production of CAMELOT (not that there is anything wrong with it).  Yesterday, I found out that James Barbour is playing Lancelot.  So..... I am reviewing the situation.

Hmm...  I guess Mr. Barbour's legal problems have been taken care of then.

Good day to HHW!

Haven't caught up on the posts yet, but will reply to SINGDAW from yesterday regarding Leonard Bernstein's YOUNG PEOPLE'S CONCERTS:

I'm really enjoying the series. The name of the series is a misnomer--they were designed for kids, of course, but Bernstein assumes a very great deal from such young people. I find that the series works on many levels. I've been listening to classical music for 25 years or more, listen to it daily, etc, and I'm learning a great deal. I usually watch each lecture/concert twice. There's a book, too--did you know that? I haven't seen it, but it's available on Amazon.

And thanks again to DR ELMORE and DR JOSE for recommending the series to me (and to other DRs as well who made such fine recommendations).

I'm wondering if Leonard bernstein's "Omnibus" series episodes are available on DVD... Hmm...

(Time to head to Amazon...)

Jose, when you have a chance, could you explain again about this production?  Is it just going to be done at Westport, or does it hopefully have higher ambitions?  Is this the same show that was previously called OVER AND OVER?

I share your fears. I usually listen to the local classical music station each morning--wherever I'm living. We had a fairly good one here until recently--WGMS-FM--but it is no longer. National Public Radio has converted back to classical as a result, but without as much personality, IMHO. I liked hearing the latest Yoyo Ma and such; radio is a great way to hear new recordings.

...And I have to say it was kind of "cool" how WGMS stopped depending on "Classical Music's Greatest Hits" to fill their programming when WETA went to the all news format.  And they even picked up "From The Top"- which has to be my favorite NPR music program.  -Those are some talented kids!  -And I've always appreciated Christopher O'Riley's talent (and looks, truth be told).

-But now that WGMS is now long gone, and WETA has gone back to playing music... Well, I guess it's better than nothing.

And isn't the DC area, as a result of all the format changes, one of those "rare" major metropolitan areas that does not have a station that carries the weekly broadcasts from The Metropolitan Opera?

Back from the jog - easier today.  Shall now catch my breath, and then start writing - I got a good idea on the jog, and I have to go back, either to the last chapter or the chapter before and add it.  Then, as a result, I have a really good way to end this chapter.

Well, as I understand it...

All About Us started off originally at Over and Over when it premiered at Signature Theatre in Arlington, VA in 1998 (I think it was 1998).  The it became Skin of Our Teeth for a while (note the absence of the "The" in the title) for a while, and now it's All About Us.

Right now, it's simply a Westport Country Playhouse production.  Of course, people would love for it to come into New York, but as many people have learned over the years, sometimes treating an out-of-town production as simply an out-of-town production is the best way to get a show to get to The Broadway.  Otherwise, people's energies and focus are not truly on the work at hand.  -Counting your chickens and all that jazz...

*In fact, we don't say the "B-Word" in rehearsal.  ;)

Oh?

I'm sure if you Google "James Barbour" and "15 year old girl" you'll find the news I glossed at.

Of course, touring in CAMELOT could be considered a harsher punishment than prison.
