Well, you've read the notes, the notes had some discoveries of the musical kind, and now it is time for you to post until the musical cows come home.
-
And the word of the day is: CAVALCADE!

~~~Vibes for a Hugely Huge Modern Major Miracle in the Key of C!!~~~
-
Good morning, friends.
-
~~~STRONGEST FEEL BETTER PRONTO VIBES~~~ for the likes of DR Ron Pulliam!!!!!!!
-
I don't know, DR ChasSmith - between the witch and the accidentals, I think the accidentals are the more scary.
-
That Elliot Carter Elegy is really lovely. And I'm now listening to his First Symphony. Thanks for the discoveries, BK.
-
~~~HUGELY HUGE MODERN MAJOR MIRACLE IN THE KEY OF C VIBES~~~ for the likes of BK!!!!!!!!
-
As in, no accidentals.
-
Which are scary.
-
Good morning, all!
-
Notes viewed. Envisioned.
-
Good morning! Why am I awake though?
-
Well, every night my daughter hops into bed with us at some point. Which is cozy, but sometimes I can’t fall back asleep.
-
I slept rather well, but this weather is really working my last nerve. Yesterday was a chilly, wet, ugly day and today the temperature is predicted to go into the 60s.
-
I am feeling very lazy at the moment and I would not mind going back to bed for a while.
Yesterday was our big shopping day. Where we had to travel down over the proper US border and stock up at Home Depot, Costco, Target, and I finally experienced Fred Meier. What an enormous store that is. We stopped for Thai in Blaine, Wash. Then back over all the borders to get home at 7 and unload. Exhausting but productive.
-
I’d hoped our home renovation would be closer to done when we returned from our vacation, but these things never work like that. We have only one working sink at the moment. Getting a plumber or electrician here is like capturing a unicorn. The ones who live here are in high demand so they don’t need the work. Ones nearby in Canada are not allowed to work here, and ones from down in Washington proper have no incentive to come up here.
-
Briefly saw DR Jane’s name appear up top, which hopefully means she has safely arrived someplace.
-
Now like DR Elmore I shall try to go back to sleep.
-
Good morning, all.
Up too early. Playing bells.
Good morning, all.
Got “just” enough solid sleep to feel rested.
Drinking coffee with a Stew Leonard’s cinnamon roll which is surprisingly good. I do believe I’ll have another in a little bit.
-
I also need to practice (even though I’m not trying to get to Carnegie Hall) for a couple of hours this morning before I go out to see that pee show.
-
Thank GAWD yesterday’s weather is outta here. What a miserable day. Our town is reported to have enjoyed at least a few minutes each of every kind of precipitation. We need this dry sunny day.
-
We played well. Short piece. On to next Sunday, which is longer.
-
DR CHAS SMITH don't be the bunny.
Page Dos.
-
Miracle vibes for MR BK.
-
A couple of more games today and then we will head for the final four next week.
-
Lovely sunny day here - blue skies and sunshine.
I'll take it.
-
Feel better vibes for DR Ron Pulliam.
State-approved.
Ballet break! I just got an email from the friend in LA, who showed up in a dream Thursday night. I am very happy he is okay.
That is good, DR elmore3003.
I guess it's time to do something about lunch.
Hello, everyone.
-
It is a beautiful sunny day here, but windy. Chilly. But lovely.
I am studying Feldenkrais online. Feldenkrais, for the uninitiated, is a form of exercise that is designed to release body tension and reeducate the body so you stop those bad habits. I've taken Feldenkrais in the past, in person instead of online, and I can't say I got much out of it. But I am newly motivated! I am tired of being in pain so much and have yet to find any pills that wipe it out. I stretch for an hour every morning, which helps quite a bit, but isn't enough. So we try again. I found a Feldenkrais instructor on YouTube (what isn't on YouTube?) who I like. His name is Taro and I am learning his exercises.
Did I mention that my doctor suggested a rehab doctor who would do horrible things like shaving part of my nerves? EWWWWW!! The patients said it really changed their lives. Right. I'll stick with exercise. There are some changes I don't need.
I read the first 8 chapters and had to return this to the library, but now I’m next in line to get another copy so I can finish it. Meanwhile, I’m reading the memoir of the marine biologist who studies bioluminescence.
Yesterday I went with some AAUW friends to the Voice of America museum. Between that and the book we’re talking about, I’ve recently decided I’m very un-scienced. Most of it goes over my head.
The reviews of the new Sweeney Todd are coming in. Most are good. Some fing Groban not scary enough, some find Ashford too light and comical. Then others are totally in love.
-
The pie came out well. It didn’t taste too sweet. Had good peach flavor and everyone ate it. Can’t ask for more.
-
I guess it was just underbaked before.
A little bit of Monica in my life.
Had enough mambo, no. 5 or not, to last me through the day.
-
Oh boy. I survived Phenomena. The chimp with a razor was actually a fun touch.
-
Then I started Benney’s Video, an Austrian movie in German.
-
It opens with the slaughter of a pig.
-
The back of the disc describes it as “a coolly postmodern, metacinematic labyrinth in which the boundaries between actual and mediated violence become terrifyingly indistinguishable.”
Oy.
-
And for 110 minutes.
-
Needless to say, it’s a Criterion release. Thankfully from the library.
Let’s get off this page.
Page FIVE???
Better do something about that right now.
That is an old phase - we are in a NEW phase and page five does NOT figure into it.
So, no rabbit holes tonight, Josephine.
None.
Nada.
Get to work.
No TCB.
George has made one post at 9:03.
And then deserted the jernt.
-
Not how it works.
-
Not going to have it.
Cannot be.
Turn the damn page already.
Good. Only three pages to go.
-
It was very loud.
-
Everyone off their ASS and let's have some action.
-
Today, I saw Broadway Olympia's "passion project" production of The Last Five Years, by Jason Robert Brown.
-
They call it a "passion project" because the director and actors put this together and asked BOP if they could perform it at their space.
-
Nothing was being performed there, yet, so it was a go.
-
It was also really well done.
-
The two actors were quite good, and the single piano accompanist was also very good.
-
It was interesting, though...the guy is supposed to be Jewish and the girl not.
-
However, the guy was actually Hispanic and the girl seemed like she was Jewish.
-
It didn't matter, because they both performed very well.
-
This is the second weekend of their four-weekend run, so I might go see it again.
-
I'll ask Shelly and/or Margo if they want to go.
-
I went today on a whim.
-
Page six is not going to cut the mustard or the ketchup or the mayo, I'm afraid. Not happening. I'll be back in a few after I finish the notes.
-
Let's keep going.
-
Well, this sucks.
-
I, of course, would like to get the cast recording to the new version of Some Like It Hot.
-
I know that the new score has its detractors. ::)
-
But I like Shaiman and Wittman, so I plan on getting it.
-
The digital MP3s are available now, which is fine.
-
HOWEVER, according to Amazon.com listing (https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0BYVT5G7K/), the physical CD won't be released until August 18, 2023! :o
George! Hello!!
Someday I shall make it down to your part of the state.
Had lunch in Semiahmoo yesterday on our grocery journey.
That's a good thing.
Our house had some hideous paint, color schemes, and wallpaper choices when we bought it. Oddly, not the previous owner, but the one before that, was an actress from Battlestar Galactica. Katee Sackhoff. I don’t think she did much to care for the house.
-
Semiahmoo is a resort area between Blaine and Bellingham. Nothing too exciting.
-
One interesting thing about the SLIT vinyl album release is that the Amazon listing (https://www.amazon.com/Some-Original-Broadway-Recording-Tangerine/dp/B0BYVXCGPS/) (which I assume is the "standard" vinyl release) shows that it'll be made with tangerine vinyl:
(https://m.media-amazon.com/images/I/811MRImIlxL._SL1500_.jpg)
-
Looks pretty cool, if you ask me. :)
-
But the Barnes & Noble (https://www.barnesandnoble.com/w/some-like-it-hot-scott-wittman/39684722?ean=0888072530966) exclusive release will be made with blue vinyl:
I loved that reboot Battlestar Galactica! Do you know if she actually lived in the house, or just owned it, like James Marsden owned the house that BK used to live in?
-
Tangerine or blue? Choices, choices…
And only a $2.00 difference in price.
(The B&N blue version is more expensive.)
And now...
Due to painting, we did not watch episode 1 of Succession tonight. Now I must avoid all news until I see it.
Due to painting, we did not watch episode 1 of Succession tonight. Now I must avoid all news until I see it.
Good luck with that!
Oops I accidentally stepped on a gratuitous post! I shall will it back to you.
This is a new thing, the withholding the CD for endless months so they can get all the streaming people to buy it. I find it reprehensible and actually incredibly ignorant, as they miss all those lobby sales. It used to be the other way - CD as fast as possible, and then streaming at the same time. No one knows what they're doing anymore.
-
Get me off this damn page.
-
Off I say.
-
Let's off this page.
-
Let's on the next page.
I blame Jane, who takes far too many vacations.
I blame Michael Barnum for deserting us.
I blame Jose for deserting us.
But really, I put the blame on Mame.
-
Let the record show, I have deeded post #200 to George for use as his Gratuitous Post. My post which appears as 200 shall henceforth be acknowledged as actual post #201.
-
I think the Sweeney reviews, mostly raves, were very predictable. I think it would have gotten these reviews if it were the worst production - no one's giving any Sondheim show a bad review right now, witness Sunday in the Park out here.
-
The record has shown.
-
I blame Mame for my corn having no husks!
-
Where'd George get to?
-
I blame it on Rio, I blame it on my youth.
-
George actually had the temerity to leave the room.
-
That simply isn't done.
-
We don't leave the room.
-
We stay in the damn room.
-
Have we seen photographic evidence of the Rodzinski clan?
-
I wonder if Rodzinski purchased the marvelous Rodzinsky box on Sony.
-
I did.
-
Are you saying in death, Sondheim has become a guaranteed good review?
-
George left the damn room.
-
Yes, for now anyway.
-
George went down some damn rabbit hole.
-
I gotta figure out how to post photos on here.
-
And that is hole-ly unacceptable.
-
Oops I accidentally stepped on a gratuitous post! I shall will it back to you.
Not a problem...happens all the time. ;)
-
Don't use the quick reply box. Hit reply on any post and you'll see a box to attach photographs.
George has returned from the living dead.
