RE: CATCHER IN THE RYE

I also do not remember it. The problem here is that it has been many years since most here have read it.

I think if you want a list of current actors, just describe the character to us. Then we can say which current actors fit the role.

And OMG! a 28 lb turkey!

I am loving the cook from frozen ones. It took only 5 1/2 hours to do mine last week (and it came with stuffing in it, which makes it even better!).

Actually, I think we are better at bad-casting.

I did enjoy last night's show, even though i was praying the frats would go. They really are not good at this race. And i want them gone now. It is hard to believe that they can make mistake after mistake and still stick around. I was really hoping (but not really thinking) that they would be last.  I never really cared for sarah and terrence. But i was very impressed with him last night. In the beginning of the season he was sort of mean and always yelling. But he seems to have changed. He was actually supportive and nice. I just wish they had left as soon as they saw the fast forward was eating meat. I wonder if that would have made a difference. It seems like it would have. I was happy that nick and starr won the ff. That was very risky. I am also starting to appreciate the mother and son. I never thought he was that bright, or her that physically capable. But they are good. I think they are doing great!

TOD:

Firsts:

THAT CERTAIN SUMMER
STEAMBATH (PBS (or was it still NET?) broadcast)
The incredibly gay older gentleman who did a how-to sewing show on PBS (again, maybe it was still NET) in the late 60's or early 70's.  I remember the guy wore shirts with lace cuffs and that my sister and I would roar with laughter (we were younger then.)

Good morning!

No rain for the next five days, but highs aren't going out of the 50s, so we're going to have typical November weather for awhile.

I'll be continuing to work on STAR TREK today. Other than the two NBC show which I'll watch off the DVR speeding through commercials, I don't think I'll have time today for anything else.

OK.  I'm sorry, I just don't get it...     WHY?    :)

Because they can, and also because it solves the problem most people have with using the machines -- it's BORING when the scenery doesn't change.

How could I forget one of my most favorite TV movies of the past few years, THE BLACKWATER LIGHTSHIP, a Hallmark Hall of Fame presentation that had me uncontrollably sobbing at its ending.

The machine is less dangerous than running on the road or stepping off onto a shoulder.  The stable surface makes ALL the difference.  :D

TOD:  The first film I remember seeing that had "gay" anything referenced was, I think, "The Detective" with Frank Sinatra.  Of course, in that film, "gay" was treated by others as "deserves to die" and by Sinatra's character as "sick creatures deserving pity", and possibly institutionalization.

I, too, recall "The Gay Deceivers" as probably the first gay-themed movie I saw.

After that came "Making Love", "Partners", "The Ritz," "The Boys in the Band", and "Victor, Victoria".

I also recall the Perry King-Meg Foster "A Different Story" that Dan (the Man) mentioned.  I was confused by his comment about Foster being the 2nd actress to play Detective Lacey.  Foster, of course, played the part on the TV series and was summarily replaced after six episodes by Sharon Gless because, "they say", they wanted someone "more feminine" in the role.  I still scratch my head over that one because Gless was about as butch as they come in that part.  I feel certain it was Foster's eyes that gave her a steely look that unsettled "the men folk" in charge and made them feel less-than-remotely-adequate that engendered the change.

I've seen only one play with a gay theme:  "Jeffrey".

Yes.  You only have to worry about getting hit by a car.     :D

Weird!  Just now, as I was looking at the DeepDiscount.com page, I received a recorded message on my cell phone from them about the sale.  They gave me another discount sale code of BLUE.

Yes.  You only have to worry about getting hit by a car.     :D

If one were running sans machine, the danger is the car, motorcycles, things being thrown from windows, potholes, dogs and other beasties, etc., etc., etc.,   At least on the machine, there is "some" protection.  If something hits or side swipes the machine, you stand a better chance of suffering only a few scrapes from being bumped off it.

Additionally, one can hang a bag from the hand bar...a bag that could include sprays to fend off animals, a stun-gun to remove runners in your path, tacks to throw into the road to keep cars from tailgating you.  ;)

Ah ha!  Trivia question time!  Without looking it up on IMDB, who can name the actress that originated the role of Lt. Cagney?
