George, if the bulk of the audience last night was Jewish, that would probably account for the lack of liquor sales.  Most Jews I know (and Betsy and I are among them) are not heavy drinkers.

We're depressed enough genetically not to need an alcohol "aid."  ;)

I'm still thinking about THE PEOPLE IN THE PICTURE, and how much I enjoyed and was moved by the score.

Actually, I'd never even heard of the show before BK offered the CD.

How long did it run?  Anybody know?

I ordered PEOPLE IN THE PICTURE yesterday and it still has not arrived, so I must go file a PayPal dispute.

The host is the guy from CASH CAB....Ben.....and he is okay....he looks a bit uncomfortable standing up, but he does okay.

Ben Bailey, the host of Cash Cab and now Still Standing, according to a friend of ours, has a very bad back. That could explain the uncomfortable look. I wonder why he would take a job where he has to stand for a long time if he has a bad back.

JR, no, nothing yet, and it's run of the mill stuff, but I didn't want to seem churlish by refusing his offer.

Well....there may be a gem in there.

bk - It's good to know that the Taylor's will all be on one coast. Let's hope that the Broadway transfer of Once is just as successful as its current off-Broadway run.

That would explain it....and he is VERY TALL.  It is a NETWORK opportunity for him, I guess - and it's on EVERY NIGHT this week...not sure if it has a regular place on the schedule.

On a related note, I hope that the ticket sales for Lysistrata Jones pick up this week after their glowing NY Times review.

Ben Bailey is quite a funny stand up comedian.  He has a great routine about getting stuck in traffic at the Lincoln Tunnel and some guy screaming at him and flipping him off.  He (Bailey) lost it and jumped out of his truck and accosted the guy, whereupon two things happened.  The guy instantly recognized him, and then Bailey remembered he was with his filming crew, who had all simultaneously jumped out of the truck, so that Bailey was surrounded by a gaggle of big, brutish guys, all of them heading toward the guy who had screamed.  It's a very funny bit.

When I spoke to Andy before the show, he said "there might be a move east," and I'm hoping the show has a long run and life. One caveat is that Dame Ben Brantley did not give ONCE the rave they were hoping for in the TIMES.

I'm thinking I'll order tickets for the early part of the run and take Charlotte.

I finally managed to dispose of my collection of non-working electrical and electronic items, including broken DVD and BD players. I took them to the recycle depot which is only 2 miles from me. Trouble is, almost everyone is now on holiday and the local roads are chock-a-block. So what should be a few minutes journey ends up an hour or more there and back.

Where do you live, Doug?

I am outraged that the Playbill Vault only has one of the Farmer-Adler covers for GOLDEN BOY uploaded and will be filing a dispute with PayPal about it.

It's amazing how much one can accomplish by leaving the house before 9am!  I stopped at the bank and our local Target, where I was able to replace the birthday gloves that I lost the other night.  Headed south and arrived at Rob and Mary Linda's apartment right on time.  ML gave me a tour of their digs, which I like a lot, and then we came back to Middletown.  Made a couple of quick stops and went to pick up her car.  She stopped here to get some things Rob had forgotten yesterday and she's headed back to Cincinnati.  I'm contemplating lunch and my afternoon agenda.

One dream I had was about a bunch of people (me included) trying to get out of some iced in place - very weird.  Another was attending a screening of Evening Primrose at the Grauman's Chinese - and seeing the opening shot was filmed on Santa Monica Blvd.  That led to seeing footage of that taken from a car and then the car driving up various streets in that neighborhood.

I'm in east London. I don't think I've been to Gerard's Cross but I grew up not too far from there. It's a nice area.
