Even though our very own bk will not be in town this coming weekend, should WE try to set up an HHW Get Together on Saturday "between shows"? DR Ben? DR elmore? DR FJL? DR KevinH? ;) -And the previously mentioned DR vixmom, of course.

I might be able!

Sounds great!

I just finished a delicious pastrami and corned beef sandwich from Jason's Deli.

It's not a NY-style deli, but they do serve the best corned beef and pastrami I've yet to find in Austin.

The one thing I miss most about Los Angeles is Canter's.

I watched the first five minutes of the GGA last night and turned it off when what's his name started on Justin Bieber......then switched back for a few minutes at 10 o'clock to see Jean DuJardin and Meryl Streep win....then turned it off again.   :P

I am thinking about borrowing Tllda Swinton's rug.....going for the natural look.  What do YOU think?   ;D

I am sorry that you missed Debra Messing.

DR TCB, et al - there are a LOT of interesting Titanic books coming out in the next couple of months......  If you haven't checked on Amazon.com lately for titles - you may be pleased/surprised/appalled.....or ALL three.

Any new books comparing Titanic to this dreadful mishap in Italy? I read one passenger compare what happened to that. Sounds like the captain was on a mind-altering substance or two.

Yes, Tilda looked quite bizarre last night.  OTOH, several older women looked faboo, including Jane Fonda and especially Michelle Pfeiffer, who doesn't seem to have had even an ounce of work done, and is much better for it.

About half-way thru, Tlda looked half swacked.  Too much champagne or ............

Thanks for the head's up Jrand.  I had better go exploring the Amazon.  Most likely I will be appalled.

The news media seems to keep comparing it to the Titanic.  I have no idea why.  Perhaps because memberrs of the crew stated, "Women and children first." Oh, and both events happened on the water.

It certainly mirrors, more closely, the Andrea Doria than anything to do with the Titanic.

The Andrea Doria.

From what I understand, the captain was one of the first to leave the ship. That was real chivalrous. Oh, well, there will probably be an opera version in a few years. I'll wait for that.

A great many crew members left the Andrea Doria, before the passengers.  I believe the first lifeboat to reach the Stockholm was almost completely crew members.  Also the ship listed so quickly that half of the lifeboats were not able to launch.

But then again, "Here's to The Ladies Who Launch."

Yes......I forgot to mention when you posted that I have read the Andrea Doria book you got DR TCB.....most interesting.

I also read a book about a lake ship that capsized at the dock on the morning of a company picnic.....can't find the book right now, but it was also very good.

I read several books last year about ship disasters....for some reason.

I am looking forward to ON A SEA OF GLASS: The Life and Loss of the RMS Titanic, but it isn't going to be released until June.  And the advanced price is still $50.
