And a very happy haineshisway.com birthday to occasional dear reader Elan!  Did you know Elan left a post here on the very first day of this site's existence?  As did a few others.

Who were the others that posted on the very first day of this site's existence?

My timing was a few days late, but then I had to wait for Bruce's request to meet Susan. ;)

I took a Carnival cruise and liked it (although it was like 12 years ago).

I did not mean to imply last ngiht that all Carnival Cruises end up as drunken brawls.

Betsy is skiing with our niece today.  Our niece is finishing her last semester at Reed, which means she soon won't be able to say "no" when we ask her to housesit.  ;)

Skiing?  You must have gotten a lot more snow than we did.

You've given me a true love
And every day I thank you, love,
For a feeling that's so new,
So inviting, so exciting.

Whenever you are near
I hear epiphany!
A tender melody,
Pulling me closer
Closer to your arms...

I'm a bit achy in the bones today because yesterday I decided to show off and shovel not only my own sidewalk but my neighbor lady's as well.  There really wasn't much to shovel but in quite a few spots the surface of the snow had frozen to ice and I to slam the snow shovel against it.  But I've been feeling better as the wore on so I think I'll survive.

Back from the get-together, which was a card-making workshop and sales party.  Not sure how much of this I want to get into, but will probably order something to help out my friend who hosted the event.  Richard and I were going to go out to eat, but it's very foggy and likely to get worse as it gets dark.  Think we'll stay home and eat tuna glop for dinner.

I finally started cracking on my VHS-to-DVD project this weekend, though it's been a slow start.  So far I've got Bill Irwin's THE REGARD OF FLIGHT, a PBS showing of A.R. Gurney's THE DINING ROOM and a broadcast of A MIDSUMMER'S NIGHT DREAM that was done at the Delacourt in 1982 (my gawd--has it really been thirty years since I've seen it?!?).

I'm hoping I can get into the habit of throwing on a tape at least every other day and burning the DVD (with menu chapters in needed) immediately afterwards.  This might become tedious when I get to having to convert the Tony Awards broadcasts, but we shall try to continue to be ambitious...

And yet, there were some who told you that you would love your Kindle!

I love to read, but i really did not think i would love my kindle this much.  Because I love covers. And I love actual books.

I really thought that i would only use it to get books that i could not read in hardcopy.

I still don't like or want to pay the prices of new ebooks (i'm sorry but $13 seems like way too much when you can buy the book in hardcover on the bookdepository for less).  But I had no idea there were so many free books.

I do like it for books i can't get otherwise. And i had no idea that i could check my email or update my goodreads account. So i like that part.

And I have had mine for over two years, and I still don't know how to do that.

Well, up until last year, we never had any real appreciatable snowfall.  I planned on getting one this year but because we had no snow all November and December, saw no need.  Even with this weekend's storm, I doubt I would have used it.

DR Dan (the Man), where do you live again?  I thought you get more snow.

In Pennsauken, just across the river from Northeast Philly.

Lots of snow last year, next to nothing this year.

OK, that is what I thought.  I remember having lots of know when we lived outside of Philly.  One of my best experiences was sledding under a full moon.

I always love it when the skies clear up the day after a snowstorm.  The sunsets are beautiful!

I don't remember sledding under a full moon but I have gone skiing under one.  With the snow reflecting it it's almost like daytime.

I have been trying to add my maiden name to my Facebook page.  I don't know if it took between the site stating there are difficulties & the request for a user name (haven't a clue what the original one was) & not accepting anything I put in.
