Well, you've read the notes, the notes were final, and now it is time for you to post until the final three cows come home.
-
And the word of the day is: GUSSY!
-
Good morning/afternoon.
-
First Second post after BK.
-
First post after BK.
Nope, Jane sneaked in
-
Fortunately I enjoy the smell of a good cigar. Even better is the aroma when I first walk into a humidor at a cigar store.

I imagine my reaction to walking in to a humidor would be similar to yours walking into a butcher shop
-
Now the smell of a grilling steak........
-
Gratuitous Post #9!
-
DR Vixmom though I only occassionaly smoked Newports I do have a craving if I smell one. They are the only cigarettes I can tolerate.
-
TOF
Last month the convention we attended was held in a local hotel and we ate lunch in the hotel restaurant one day. They had a short rib burger that was wonderful. Thick and juicy and it tasted like a perfectly done steak
-
DR Vixmom though I only occassionaly smoked Newports I do have a craving if I smell one. They are the only cigarettes I can tolerate.
Newport was my brand
-
I heard recently on NPR that there is a movement to ban menthol cigarettes.
-
My initial reaction was to be appalled and to think I should go and stock up on Newports and then I remembered I hadn't smoked for over 30 years
-
Now I want that burger
-
The cigar boxes here don't just carry a written warning of the dangers of smoking, they have photos. The little box Keith purchased has a woman lying in bed with oxygen tubes in her nose.
My "favorite" was the photo of a foot with all five toes completely black.
I was bad and kept looking at the various photos and laughing.
-
I heard recently on NPR that there is a movement to ban menthol cigarettes.
There probably should be ;D
-
Now I want that burger
I don't know about the fois gras, but otherwise it does look good.
-
Also when Elmore and I went to see Desperate Measures last year at St Peter's we went to a restaurant right down the block and where I also had a phenomenal short rib burger
-
Now I want that burger
Last night I shared a Beyond burger with Keith. He enjoyed it, I did not.
-
Tonight we are going out for Chinese food. I am excited, my first Chinese food in China.
-
What is a beyond burger?
-
What is a beyond burger?
Is that like the vegan Impossible Burger?
-

I thought you were in Japan
-
Hong Kong.
-
Did you see the map?
-
What is a beyond burger?
Is that like the vegan Impossible Burger?
I think so. You can buy it in some markets in the frozen section.
-
While googling to find the difference I read they are both very popular in Hong Kong.
-
The Beyond burger looked like a medium rare burger.

DR Vixmom wishing you super vibes on your first day at your new desk!

Our view of Hong Kong from the Kowloon side is pretty. I t would be even prettier if the sky was clear.
-
Topic of the Day:
Locally, Eagan's and Red Wagon have really good burgers. I also like Red Robin and Burger King and McDonald's. I'm sure I'll think of others later today.
-
Did you see the map?
I remembered wrong, are you going to Japan during this trip?
-
DR Vixmom wishing you super vibes on your first day at your new desk!
Thank you!

Nope. Did you look at the map ;)
-
Have fun in Hong Kong!!
Thank you.
Tomorrow we have an early tour to Macau and need to be in the lobby by 7:30.
-
Well, I'd better get to bed. I've got some sleeping in to do! 8)
-
I do want to go in to work today, but not to work, though. I want to scan some music using the photocopier. I can create a PDF file and e-mail it to myself. And since I'm not using any resources like paper or the toner ink, it's free.

Tonight, I'm ushering for Harlequin Productions' latest show, The 1940s Radio Hour. This is the second time that they've done the show, but the first time was back in the 1990s. I was in that first production. And it's the first Christmas show since Harlequin's founders left or were fired from the organization earlier this year. ::)
Have a good day, all!
-
Good morning, all!
-
Joshie has asked me to come into City Center this morning. I will leave in 2.5 hours. I have things to accomplish here before I do.
-
Last night I had my first solid meal in a week. Since last Friday, Dec. 20, I've had one meal a day: chicken soup with 10 cloves of fresh garlic. Last night I ordered takeout from Fred's, up the street: cheeseburger with Swiss and mushrooms, french fries, green salad, It was quite deelish, and just what I needed.
-
Annabelle and Thatch will not let me go out on New Year's Eve. It's the night when goblins eat cute little kittens who should be home in bed. I am grateful for their concern.
-
Good morning, all.
-
I’m supposed to go to the car place to have my snow tires put on. I have an hour before that happens.
-
DR Elmore, I love garlic, but is that ten cloves in one BOWL or in some greater quantity? Sounds really good, though.
-
My oh my, all of this talk about smoking.
I know Vixmom will be enchanted to hear that I enjoyed an annual cigar at my friend’s partay last week. It was delicious.
I never went near cigarettes. I “smoked” a couple in my twenties, but I couldn’t make myself inhale. Still wouldn’t know how to. Fortunately the habit never caught on.
Cigars and pipes, though, that’s a flavor thing, and I got into it to a small extent back around 2003. It still never became a regular thing, just an occasional pleasure. But walking into a store’s humidor? Heaven. It’s like certain drinks or foods, either you take to a thing and discover the appeal, or you don’t. Anyway, I enjoy two or three a year now, that’s about it.
-
Further on the garlic: If I find myself feeling, say, a scratchy throat coming on, and I feel that slight “chill” of a cold trying to catch me, I can often chase it right out by eating garlic cloves (really chewing on them), sipping red wine, and staying warm. For me that combination of flavors is a match made in heaven anyway, but it’s also warm and healing in a special way.
-
Is anyone lighting up a Camel?
-
Just wondered.
-
Good morning!
-
We’re going to the Original Pancake House this morning.
-
DR Elmore, I love garlic, but is that ten cloves in one BOWL or in some greater quantity? Sounds really good, though.
Ten cloves and one can of Progresso chicken soup. I prefer their chicken noodle, but I had Progresso chicken with wild rice, chicken with rice, chicken with rotini, and chicken with barley. I liked them all!
-
I don’t know why they don’t ban cigarettes completely.
-
Is anyone lighting up a Camel?
No, and I am not walking a mile for one, either!
-
I just paid my last bill for 2018. I hope the encores! work revs up soon; I need some income.
-
The largest percentage of people who smoke cigarettes are those who can least afford it.
-
Page 3 Dance!
-
An unhealthy percentage of smokers are the poor.
-
What the hell am I doing here at 5:15 in the morning?
-
Nick woke me up because he wanted hairball medicine.
-
And then, I had to use the bathroom.
-
And it is Sunday for Jane!
-
Good morning.
-
TOD: The Ultimate Cheeseburger at Jack in the Box. I see burgers as a fast-food item; I'd never order one in a fancy restaurant (a restaurant that has servers is fancy in my world).
-
I have never smoked. My dad smoked White Owl cigars, and now I think of my dad when I smell cigars.
-

I am glad you have another restaurant for take out with Artie's closed.

It is and I neec to sleep.

I was dreaming I was doing food stamp interviews at the welfare office.
-
It is funny that when I dream about past jobs, it is always the welfare office. I haven’t worked there in 25 years.
-
Greetings from the car place.
-
It is funny that when I dream about past jobs, it is always the welfare office. I haven’t worked there in 25 years.
Speaking of past jobs, I dreamed last night that I was working at the office supplies store in Ohio where I worked 1973-1978. We were doing some sort of murder mystery theme event, and everyone was being made up as shooting victims for the photo shoot.
-
I have two sausage burritos in my belly and a coffee at my side.
-
I think my dream was something fairly interesting (to me, at least), but it literally disappeared as I sat up in bed and has steadfastly refused to return.
-
Ah ha! Saturday.
I liked DR MICHAEL's poster!
-
Good show vibes for MR BK & Co.
DR VIXMOM now it's all YOU! You can do it. I have every confidence in you.
-
I like the cheddar bacon burger at O'Charley's, the Big Mac - but my favorite was the Brawny Lad burger at the now defunct Big Boy's!
-
Good morning, all.
-
Up after 9 hours of blessed sleep on a box spring mattress. It felt great.
My German bed was a tiny matt over a board. Not pliable. Not restful.
-
DR GEORGE's post reminded me - when I worked at the Indiana School for the Deaf - we worked 8 hours per day. ALL of the state employees who worked downtown and at various other offices only worked 7.5 hours per day. All of us who worked at institutions including prisons, etc, were paid the same, but worked 2.5 hours a week more.
It was contentious for years - and finally a law suit was filed and heard and found in our favor. I ended up with about $800 - and we all began working 7.5 hours per day. There was another settlement for us, but that stayed in the court for years (my settlement was in 1992).
Finally a judge ruled in our favor but found that we were only owed money from the time the lawsuit was decided to the time the hours were changed - which was about two weeks.
So I guess I'm owed $60 or so.....or something. Doubt we will ever see that.
Here is the decision.....the last paragraph of the 57 pages is the kicker:

TOD:
Most any burger in front of me.
My friend Bob, who died earlier this year, had a 50/50 burger of his menu that's half burger meat, half bacon. Then he introduced the 50/50/50, which was half burger, half bacon, half brisket. You do the math, give me the burger. Chargrilled. Just amazing.
-
Welcome home DR JOHN G. Is JB speaking to you yet?
I havent picked him up yet. Or really gotten out of bet yet.

Hreat photo, Jane.

I know, ChasSmith. I know.
-
Off to fave the day. And the bird.
-
Fortunately I enjoy the smell of a good cigar. Even better is the aroma when I first walk into a humidor at a cigar store.
This shocks me. I can't even be near any type of smoke. And I guess spraying perfume in the big department store at the mall is the new thing because I could not even breathe. And the perfume department is right by the escalator that you need to go up to leave the store. It was horribl.
-
Long wait today. An hour and forty minutes, and they’re just now getting to my car. And that’s with having had an appointment.

I've finally decided on the subject for the 20th play in my collection, THE HOLLYWOOD LEGENDS.
I'll reveal the subject at a later date, but he is one of the following:
Burt Lancaster
Marlon Brando
Randolph Scott
Fredric March
Sal Mineo
Robert Mitchum
Robert Ryan
Abe Vigoda
Dick Powell
Ronald Colman
Tyrone Power
Victor Mature
Feel free to guess.
-
Two and a half hours later ..... HOME!
At least it didn't cost me anything. (I paid in time, not cash.)
I bought the tires there and also have a lifetime alignment deal, so the tire changeovers and alignments are free. And normally I'd be in and out of there in a half hour or less. But they had a full house today.
-
Good show vibes for MR BK & Co.
DR VIXMOM now it's all YOU! You can do it. I have every confidence in you.
Thank you, Jack!

I don't know about curing colds but I am confident you are safe from vampire attack

I have just finished a breakfast of white toast with cream cheese, fried leftover Boxing Day ham, a sausage and two eggs over easy with a little Penzeys Foxpoint seasoning
-
I'm up, I'm up - five hours of sleep.
-
And a nice pot of hot British tea
-
Not quite enough sleep so perhaps later I'll be able to doze for an hour.
-
A Carol Christmas arrived in Indiana this morning.
-
I am not sure how I cooked before I discovered Penzeys , I have become an addict
-
A Carol Christmas arrived in Indiana this morning.
Ooh ooh! Maybe mine will arrive today
-
Anxious to hear reports on the Carol Christmas CD!
-
I like almost ALL Progresso soups....but the chicken/noodle and chicken/wild rice and chicken & dumplings are my favorite.
-
Laura's mention of White Owl took me back to the 1964/65 World's Fair... White Owl had a magic show , I remember a slogan, meet under the smoke ring.....
-
When I was in Alexandria there was a Scottish shop I was interested in as my maternal grandfather was born in Aberdeen, unfortunately it was also a cigar shop and the smell was so overwhelming that I coukd only spend a few moments there, sadly I realized anything I bought there would reek of cigar tobacco
-
Saturday morning greetings! I’m all suited up to watch Michigan in the Peach Bowl. Go, Blue!
-
I like almost ALL Progresso soups....but the chicken/noodle and chicken/wild rice and chicken & dumplings are my favorite.
Chicken wild rice is my favorite Progresso soup but I rarely buy canned soup, except for campbells tomato which I do love on a rainy day, accompanied by a grilled cheese sandwich
-
My go to chicken soup when I am sick is liptons with extra noodles. I usually will add a can of sliced carrots and a liberal quantity of black pepper
-
Enjoy your game, Ginny
-
I am glad you are feeling better Elmore
-
I need to iron the church linens and get up to the church at dome point today
-
It's a beautiful sunny day, which is a nice change after yesterday
-
At least it wasn't snow

Goodness, page 5 and it's only 11 pastnoon on the east coast

Listening to the new recording of Something for the Boys, a show I have a special fondness for. I don't like the album at all. Sounds like it was recorded on quaaludes and the singing is average at best. For an Ethel Merman show, Danny Burstein in a comedic role should not have the most distinctive voice on the record.
-
At least it wasn't snow
My mantra these days.
Sometimes I follow it with a little "Amen".
-

Chicken wild rice is my favorite Progresso soup but I rarely buy canned soup, except for campbells tomato which I do love on a rainy day, accompanied by a grilled cheese sandwich
Isn't it amazing how universal that is?

It truly is the perfect rainy day lunch

No Carol Christmas in San Antonio.
-
I did get the new soundtrack to Star Is Born from the library. But it's not the same.
-
Bought groceries and restocked a few necessities.
-
It's not rainy here, but it is gray and cold. More bitter than all but one day I remember in Germany.
-
Instead of soup, I recharged with a plate of enchiladas mexicanas, cotija cheese-filled enchiladas with a deep red sauce. Carne asada on the side. A warming cup of fideo as a snack. Some salsa with bite and a creamy avocado salsa made for a real San Antonio welcome back lunch.
-
Surprised to find The Favourite is playing at three theaters in town. I may try to get to the movies tomorrow night.
-
The mailman came but no Carol Christmas did he bring

I got four hours of proofreading (45 pages of piano part for Call Me Madam) at City Center, went to the market, fed the cats, and I'm settled in for the evening. I brought work home so I will work here tomorrow, then go in Monday to check what I need to look over in the full score. Joshie was in a good mood, and we had a lot of fun, although several people in our line of work were viciously raked over the coals.

It was recorded in bits and pieces since 2014 or 2015, piggybacked onto other recordings, I understand, so I'm surprised only two (?) conductors are mentioned. The casting looks bad, but their bad casting goes back to the Roxbury-Gershwin shows, and I'm not sure I have any urge to ever hear it. In 2014 or 15, I turned over to the Cole Porter Trust for the beginning of this recording all of the Something For The Boys material in the John McGlinn estate.

Thanks. Our first reaction to the this lovely area was "Rodeo Drive".

Thanks. Short jet lag vibes to you.

The By the Mississississin-eeewah is truly weird, beyond the pronunciation. They don't trust the material. And I think that's probably indicative of what's wrong with the whole thing.

DR Jennifer I feel the same way about perfume as you do.
-
Plus, the liner notes are strange. I've never confused a song from Let's Face It with one from Mexican Hayride, and the only things in common between Du Barry Was a Lady and Panama Hattie is that both were written by Cole Porter for Ethel Merman. I don't get those scores confused, either.

Listening to John Kander's lovely collection of waltzes for The Beast in the Jungle. Some of the work here is really lovely. It's also divorced from the production, which I gather wasn't up to snuff. But the score sure is.
-
I just got a whopping Christmas surprise in today's post!

Six!

Randy's second Christmas envelope for Thatch has never shown up. I suspect it has been mangled in the US Postal machine. I want to let Annabelle open her envelope, but I don't want Thatch to be unhappy. Mybe it will show up in Monday's post.
-
I just got a whopping Christmas surprise in today's post!
Excellent!
-
While searching for a New Years brunch place ( in which search I have been unsuccessful) I ran across an ad fur a creperie abiut 20 minutes away
-
Vixdad and I went over fora looksee and a late lunch/early dinner...Linner? Lupper?
-
Vixdad had the classic... ham and Swiss s served with a side salad which he declared delicious
-
I had the Thanksgiving crepe...turkey, stuffing, gravy and cranberry sauce, instead of salad I substituted the home made potato soup
-
It was amazing, we will be returning
-
Then we drove around looking at some Christmas lights
-
Had an omelet for breakfast, did some errands and whatnot and banking, then came home and made two batches of tuna pasta salad, so that's done. Listening to music, including several composers new to me - Louis Aubade (fantastic), Edgar Bainton (my kind of composer), and Henri Dutilleux, which is coming up.
-
I shall now be on my way to sup and then to the theater.
-
My jet lag is fine thanks. I just need more sleep to stay up later.
We are on the boat waiting to go to Macau. It is like a big bus with individual seats and seatbelts.
I have taken a Bonine and checked there is a barf bag. Traveling with me is so much fun 😊
-
What is a beyond burger?
I'd read Beyonce Burger, and thought if you like it, you can put onion rings on it.
-
I feel like I'm never going to catch up on HHW before the end of the year.
I'll make that my New Years resolution.
-

No-barf vibes for Jane.

I just realized I haven't checked my email in quite a while
-
I have hundreds of emails to delete but I did find lovely ecards from Elmore and TCB, thank you fellas!!
-
A night of dancing. It was okay, but I am still tired.
-
Nobody was there tonight. I guess everyone is going to be there Monday.
-
Starting to watch The Big Shot with Humphrey Bogart. Howard de Silva is good in a small role.
-
June Whitfield, who played the mother in Absolutely Fabulous, has died. Loved her on that show. She was always clueless to both her daughter and her granddaughter, but not to whatever the British version of QVC is.
-
Good night, all.
-
Page six? Really?
-
Back from a good performance, a great dinner, and seeing several good friends.
-
Good evening.
-
Page 6! I thought we were really on a roll.
-
Apparently, the roll ground to a halt, sometime ago.
-
I was about to ask where George was, but I believe he said he was ushering tonight.
-
THE 1830 RADIO HOUR, or something like that.
-
One more post.
-
Page 7
-
We had a nasty wind and rain storm today.
-
I forgot to pick up more cookies at the store yesterday.
-
I gave him the last of them this morning, but he wasn’t satisfied.
-
So, like a good daddy, I braved the storm to buy him some more.
-
I can’t remember the last time I got that soaked!
-
Every inch of me (and that is a lot of inches) was totally drenched.
-
I came home, got undressed, and turned on the bowl games.
-
I fell asleep during the Peach Bowl (I think) and woke up half way through the Orange Bowl.
-
Both games were fairly one-sided.
-
Then I watched Mickey Mouse’s 90th Birthday Celebration. I must say that he looks good for his age.
-
Speaking of looking good, Bobby Burgess was on the show, and he also looked pretty good.... for 90.
-
I don’t believe he has done anything since Lawrence Welk went off the air.
-
I guess he continues to teach dance (Those that can........)
-
I, also, went out to lunch with my friend Betzy.
-
Betzy said that I was magnificent in YES VIRGINIA. God, that woman knows talent!
-
I seem to be talking to myself.
-
So, goodnight.
-
Tonight, I'm ushering for Harlequin Productions' latest show, The 1940s Radio Hour. This is the second time that they've done the show, but the first time was back in the 1990s. I was in that first production. And it's the first Christmas show since Harlequin's founders left or were fired from the organization earlier this year. ::)
Have a good day, all!
It was a good show!

It was very well done with a nice set, good actors, good singers and a good band.

Gratuitous Post #200!

Wow...200+ posts! I've got a lot of ketchuping to do!

My friend Margo also ushered tonight.
-
I think she said that this was the fourth time that she'd seen it.

After the show, we went to McMenamin's for a bite to eat.
