My question for ASK BK day....

Which stage musical has been the most successfully transferred to film?

Truest to the way the show was done onstage - The Music Man.

Best adaptation to film - West Side Story and The Sound of Music.

I like Dave and Lori....and don't care much for the Glamazons or the dentist and his wife.  Everyone else is kind of a blur.

Second question for ASK BK day:

Which character in which George Bernard Shaw play would you like to portray?  How about a character by Mr Oscar Wilde?

Henry Higgins.  Dorian Gray.

What do you think is the BEST original movie musical?

bk, I will agree with you on both West Side Story (loved it and I still do) and The Music Man!

discussion about last night's TAR.

Who are dave and lori, the dating nerds?

I know the glamazons are the older sisters.

Are the dentist and his wife the married couple who did the motorcycle challenge (and who booked the flight over the phone by mistake?).

I know this is a "sore" subject for some DRs here, but I also have great love/admiration/respect for Bob Fosse's "Cabaret".

I know it's not "like" the Broadway musical, but it's a brilliant film, IMO.

I like it, too, DRRLP....I miss some of the songs from the stage play, but Liza is in top form!   ;D

Before I go off and write for a bit I have a question or perhaps two...  ;D

What musical on broadway would make a great film adaptation?

Have any of the DRs that perform on stage, have any of you done Grease or Johnny Come Back to the Five and Dime?

Question for DR Jane... Can you share your pictures please?

DRPennyO  Any word from you auditions?

Another college in the area did Chorus Line. They did a fantastic job!

George , I bought the DVD set at Costco, maybe they can look up the transaction by my membership number! Thanks for the idea!

Costco??  You don't even need a receipt to return something to Costco!  They have a totally-no-hassle return policy.  Just take it back with your card and they'll just give you your money back.  Easy as pie!  My friend Margo took back a lawnmower that didn't work TWO YEARS after she bought it!  She had to renew her membership, but they took it back. ;D

Just received this and thought it might give FJL a chuckle.....

Enclosed is my 2005 tax return showing that I owe $3,407.00 in taxes.
Please note the attached article from USA Today, wherein you will see the Pentagon is paying $171.50 for hammers and NASA has paid $600.00 for a toilet seat.
I am enclosing four toilet seats (value $2400) and six hammers (value $1029), bringing my total remitted to $3429.00.
Please apply the overpayment of $22.00 to the "Presidential Election Fund," as noted on my return.
You can do this inexpensively by sending them one 1.5" Phillips Head screw (article from USA Today detailing how HUD pays $22.00 each for 1.5" Phillips Head Screws is enclosed for your convenience.)
It has been a pleasure to pay my tax bill this year, and I look forward to paying it again next year.

Sincerely,
A Satisfied Taxpayer

What we really want is just a replacement for the disc that's not working...  I am not sure if the Costco's here are quite do flexible on their return policy... store personnel are nicer in Florida!!

My question for ASK BK DAY:

BK, did you get the two pieces of mail we sent your way last week?   We sent them by just plain regular mail (the regular-size envelope on Wed. night and the larger envelope on Thurs. night), and were wondering how long regular mail takes to get from NY to CA.

Last night's AMAZING RACE SPOILERS (since not sure if everybody watched).

.
.
.

.
.
.

I'm curious to know what everybody thought. I loved it.  And have some favorites.

As the teams were being introduced last night, I was shaking my head because it seemed to me that there were clear Alpha teams (the frat boys, Ken and Barbie, the dentists and the lawyers) with all the rest as easily eliminated fodder.  But as the show went on, it became a constant upset as teams gained and lost ground.  Except for the frat boys, I was surprised by the other top finishers.  This should be an interesting race.

No one has particularly grabbed my fancy yet.  I don't mind the frat boys, the hippies and the nerds.  Definitely don't like the old folks, the dentists and the Glamazons.

And as for the losers, all I can say is (in my best Simpsons' Comic Book Guy voice):  Worst...gay...couple...ever!
