Last night I watched THEY DRIVE BY NIGHT on TCM, a strange little Warner Brothers' flick that starts out as a buddy movie with George Raft and Humphrey Bogart but then turns into a potboiler once Ida Lupino enters the scene.  What is truly bizarre is that the makers completely lifted a murder plot from an earlier Bette Davis movie (almost duplicated shot-by-shot) and plunked it into this film.  Has any other movie ever done this kind of thing?

a me update.

can't believe I'm still awake.

I went to work and I shouldn't have. it aggravated my condition  and it was back to the
 doctor.
i am also using a cane to help me move around. I feel so old,

Luckily I have the next two days off.

I do not like Mountain Dew at all!  I rarely drink soda/pop anymore.  It is very, very bad for us, especially for our bones.

The 1950s British series THE INVISIBLE MAN is lots of fun. Aside from that, THUNDERBIRDS, and ARE YOU BEING SERVED, I don't know from British tv shows.

I did not see any bears today, but this morning when I opened the door to grab my newspaper I came face to furry face with a racoon. He was very cute and seemed quite interested in me.

DVD:
TAXI NO:  9211 - gripping morality tale from Bollywood (only two real musical numbers, and one of those during the final credits), demonstrates without a doubt why John Abraham is a star.  Nana Patenkar is quite good, too.  It' nice to find a script that doesn't make excuses for its leading characters, both of whom are highly flawed.
NAKED FAME - Colton Ford goes from porn star to dance floor music star.
MENAGE - French farce with Gerard Depardieu, in the buff and in drag. . .
THE JUDY GARLAND SHOW EPISODE 9 - the one with Barbra, The Smothers Brothers, "Happy Days Are Here Again/Get Happy" and Ethel Merman.
...FOR THE RECORD - two dvd set of a vhs rip of the video which was supposed to be issued in conjunction with Barbra's four disc career encompassing cd set.
ADVENTURELAND - somber, yet, engaging teen comedy (not relying on the usual teen sex comedies issues) filmed right here in Pittsburgh, and Pittsburgh's great amusement park   Rockin' soundtrack.  The film does capture Pittsburgh in the 80s very well.

BOOKS:
FOR THE THRILL OF IT - outstanding look at the Leopold/Loeb murder case in Chicago in the 1920s.
THE DEFECTOR - the latest Gabriel Allon novel from Daniel Silva.  Compelling to say the least, a real page-turner.

I've never seen him in LEGALLY BLONDE, but after seeing him as H.G. Wells, I cannot imagine him as the humpy UPS man. He's such a nice guy, too! Oh, God, I sound like DR MBarnum!

DR singdaw, you should have come in and seen it with me. I love love love Lauren Kennedy; she makes difficult music sound effortless and heartbreaking, and, while her characterization was much different from Steenburgen, you just knew she and Wells were perfect for each other. And she's such a lovely lady offstage. I adore her.
