And now I'm back and Sing has left.

We had a very good time. There were many couples in attendance. Hedda asked how many couples there were and many, many hands went up. One couple has been together for 17 years and another for 14 years. In honor of VD Miss Hedda had a new wig with a big red bow and a green dress with red highlights. Her monolouge was very sharp and funny. We didn't win any door prizes but we had a good time nonetheless, though we did miss getting a red swag bag with fortune cookies and a reformulated formula of KY (that's the personal lubricant, not the state of Kentucky)

I forgot how attractive Mr. Ryan O'Neal used to be before the vagaries of life took over. Miss Madeline Kahn was a hoot (as usual). She was "introduced" in this movie. I didn't realize this was her first major role. Miss Barbra was very good and the car chase at the end was just as much fun as I remember.

There will be an article in the City Section of Sunday's Times about the Chelsea Classics experience. They have some great films lined up for the Spring. They aren't listed on the Web site but things like Valley of the Dolls, Auntie Mame, The Women, Sunset Boulevard and more. I might be spending Thursday nights in May at Chelsea Clearview Cinemas.

Good morning, all! I'm a bit down today; this is the anniversary of my dad's death. He died a year ago today, around 12:50 am, and I awoke this morning at 12:50 am, wondering if he'd stopped by to check on me. I'd wanted to bein Ohio today to stop by his grave, but the finances of the apartment have kept me here. So, perhaps on March 15 I'll return to visit him.

Today's mostly domestic: a stop at the bank for some notarized signatures, a trip to the pharmacy, some writing here, and possibly a movie after I scrub another section of the floor with Steri-Fab.

DVD: Everything's still in storage, but I have a couple of Netflix titles and the new JANE AUSTEN BOOK CLUB and BECOMING JANE

Laundry tonight, then dinner.

Ant has dance class tomorrow and he might go to an audition. He also might go to an audition on Sunday though he hasn't decided yet.

We still have some Noel Coward to watch. We have also been watching some old movies from the 30s, 40s and 50s. Years ago Ant bought a set of 10 videotapes called

Hollywood Legends Glamorous Ladies

They are listed as "10 Hollywood Classics From the Golden Age of the Silver Screen"

Well it is marketing after all. Some of them are quite good. Some of them...are not. We haven't yet watched them all. The films include:

Elizabeth Taylor in Father's Little Dividend (watched and enjoyed)

Carole Lombard in Nothing Sacred (watched and enjoyed, the Jule Styne musical Hazel Flagg is based on this film)

Betty Davis in Of Human Bondage (watched and enjoyed)

Ginger Rogers in Heartbeat (watched and enjoyed by Ant but not by me)

Lana Turner in Mr. Imperium (not yet watched)

Greta Garbo in Joyless Street (not yet watched)

Rita Hayworth in The Dancing Pirate (watched and enjoyed by Ant but not by me; this is marketing run amok; it's NOT a Rita Hayworth movie. She has a very, very, very small role, in fact she's not even listed in the credits, you only see her if you know what she looked like in 1936 and can pick her out in one of the dancing sequences; I thought the movie was painful to watch)

Marlene Dietrich in The Blue Angel (not yet watched)

Dorothy Lamour in My Favorite Brunette (watched and sort of enjoyed by Ant; again, I found this painful to watch; I found it not remotely funny; the story was irritating and Bob Hope was DREADFULLY bad (IMHO); Dorthy Lamour was Dorthy Lamour, beautiful but not much else)

Marilyn Monroe in Hometown Story (watched and sort of enjoyed; not as bad as the Rita Hayworth marketing but still, this is not a Marilyn Monroe movie; she has a small role (she does get screen credit) as a secretary; it's 61 minutes of hype about how business is good for America and how profits are more than just money)

Well, it is almost 8:30 so I should get back to work.
