Ginny, lets see how small this world really is…when does your mother leave for her cruise?

Jane - I think she said she leaves on September 8.

Ginny, cool, your own blog.  What does the E. stand for?

TPunk when is your mother going to Alaska?

Cillaliz I’m sure you did the right thing following your instincts and canceling the trip.

Scariest:  Flight Deck during flight operations

Most exciting:  Any exit being used for "Liberty Call".

Well, I guess the Chief's Mess was pretty lively...best food on the ship...but "exciting"?  It eluded me.

Interesting.  Thanks!  ;D

CP some of the stream cruises look very nice.  I would like to try a short cruise on one.

There are a number of river cruises I find tempting, here and abroad.  If we have to go to Bucharest again, a cruise on the Danube or the Black Sea from Bucharest might be nice.

Anyone going to see the new POSEIDON movie?

Only if Keith wants to see it, which means if the reviews are good I expect so.

Summers I went to camp and enjoyed kayaking and canoeing.  A few summers ago our neighbor took us kayaking with him, once down a beautiful river on a bird sanctuary (have no idea where I was) and twice on the lake near our house.  We used his double person kayak so Keith could do the work when I was tired.  ;D

The problem with boats is they usually make me sick, cruises are okay for the most part.  The cruise we took from Anchorage to Vancouver 11 years ago was fantastic & the reason we are returning this summer with friends.  I don’t know if this trip will be as great since the ship doesn’t go as far up into Alaska, considering its Alaska it can’t be bad. :)

My best experience on a boat, in spite of the fact I was incredibly sea sick, was in Maui on a dolphin excursion.  It was absolutely incredible-hundreds of Spinning Dolphins.  Dolphins love to play in the wake of boats so if you want to have a nice long time with the dolphins the boat must spin continually to keep them there.  So round and round we went, at full speed,  :Pwhile up and around the dolphins went.  :D

Sunday we saw Akeelah and the Bee, my kind of movie.  :) We found Keke Palmer to be a delightful young actress.  It really is her movie yet she had third billing, under the movie title while the two stars were above it.

Did any LOST fan spot in their newspaper today an ad from The Hanso Foundation?  It's a very realistic looking ad, in the front news section, no less.  Basically, it decries a newly published novel called BAD TWIN (the manuscript that Sawyer had been reading) which conntains "misinformation" about the foundation.  The ad says that the truth about Th Hanso Foundation can be found at (of course) www.TheHansoFoundation.org .

I'm sure that this (along with the commercial on last week's episode) is all part of the contest DR Jennifer mentioned a week or so ago.  I don't think I like the show being promoted in this way.  The "reality" of the show seems cheapened when it's called attention to this way.

I was able to watch the first hour or so of FALLEN ANGEL. The DVD is GREAt looking, and except for an odd speck or two, is just wonderful. I'm thoroughly enjoying it. Look forward to seeing the conclusion tomorrow.

IDOL opinions - - - -

Well, my favorite Elliott pulled off two controlled, classy, passionate, and confident vocals. Definitely my favorite two songs of the night.

I thought Taylor had a very good night as well. I'd rank him second among the vocalists. He had fun with "Jailhouse Rock" and did a very soulful "In the Ghetto." His best overall night for quite a while, I thought.

Chris had an up and down night, but it was mostly fine. "Suspicious Minds" was mellow; "A Little More Conversation" was pretty good. The arrangement might have shifted the key upward a little earlier to give him more thrust into the song. The lower parts were rather bland while he did get in all the words and notes.

Sad to say, Katharine had a disastrous evening in my estimation. She not only forgot some words on her medley of "Hound Dog, "Don't Be Cruel" but when she got back the words, she was not on pitch and it ended badly. My favorite Elvis song "Can't Help Falling in Love With You" was just massacred to my ears. She took this sweet, simple ballad and embellished it to irritating and ineffectual degree. Again, by the end, her breathing was off, she lost her pitch, and lost the end of the song completely.

Everyone's lines were busy tonight, but I managed to get through at certain points to everyone (Taylor the least), so this may be close. Taylor alone is the only remaining vocalist who's never been in the bottom group. I think he'll stay that way tomorrow night, too.

For me, Elliott did more than enough to warrant a place in the final three, but I have a feeling that he'll go and Katharine will get to stay.

Well the important express mail did not arrive today. I've been feeling sick since i found out.  Tomorrow is the last possible day they have. BUt it should have arrived yesterday.  I can't believe that you pay extra and they take their time. I sent a regular parcel to the same address on the same day and it arrived 2 days ago! Argggggggggggg!!!!!!!!!!  I felt so bad for the person who was desperately needing the express package. :(

LAW & ORDER: SVU had a very unusual take on internet underage porn. And there was Gregg Edelmann right in the midst of it!

I noticed Mariska Hargitay's real-life husband Peter Hermann also guested on the show tonight playing an attorney representing the teenaged boy.

DR Dan re: LOST what was the commercial? I wish someone had mentioned it, because i specifically recorded the show on ABC in case they showed anything. But i did not see any commercials.

RE: that novel Bad Twins, i've read about that being an actual book that people can buy.

I'm not sure who I think will go on IDOL.

I guess it's not over yet on the West Coast, so i will leave some space.

.

.

.

I think katharine will definitely be in the bottom 2. ANd i actually think that the judges praise will mean elliot will not go.

I didn't really get to watch it as well as usual, because i was with a big group of people, and my little niece. So it was hard to concentrate.

But I think that what the judges say will make a big difference. It wouldn't surprise me if Elliot was not even in the bottom 2. All the judges really went to bat for him.

It made me all teary!
I cannot believe how emotionally wrenching some of these season finales have been!

Boats?  For being around so much water, I've sadly little experience on 'em.  Just a few ferries around Puget Sound and up to Victoria, B.C.

Well, I have had a lot of experience with cruising, and some of it did involve ferries.  In addition, I have taken about eight or nine major cruises in the last twenty years.  I love cruise ships.  It is my chance to get a taste of how the elite are pampered.  The cruise around the tip of South America was incredible (how many people can say they have been to the Falkland Islands?), the Bahamas cruise in the  middle of a hurricane was frightening; but for me, cruising the Caribbean is still the absolute best.

Next year I am hoping to either go back through the Panama Canal, or do a round trip cruise from LA to Hawaii.
