I would mail you a tomato, but I don't think it would do well in the mail

Maybe you could use one of BK's super-duper mailing envelopes.

I never knew you could trade in frequent flyer miles for a mixer. Neat!

Most frequent flyer or hotel rewards programs have websites where you can redeem your points or miles for all sorts of things.  In the past I've gotten gift cards to restaurants, hotel rooms, flights and now a food processor!   The cool thing was with the United miles, I didn't even have to pay shipping

It's also a good way to use up points when you realize that it will take a few more trips - over a few more years - to actually earn a free flight.

My nose won't stop running. Does anyone know anything to take that makes your nose stop running (and sinuses stop hurting).

It can't make you drowsy. So it can't be something like sudafed. Because things that cause drowsiness make me unable to function for like 24 hours.

So far i've been doing advil cold and sinus. Only it doesn't really make my nose stop running. :(

Jennifer, there are several homeopathic sinus remedies available. I am currently taking one by Gripp-Heel. I used to take on by Natura-Bio, which I swore by. Both are very good--effective and no side-effects. You should be able to find one under $10 (US).

Thanks for reminding me of the homeopathic alternatives. For some reason i never remember to think of that!

You writing this reminded me that i have rhus toxicodendron, which i'm pretty sure is what i got for my lower back last year.  It has been acting up again (not terribly). But it has been bothering me for a couple of weeks enough so that when i lift anything it hurts. Do you think it would help (what i have)?

Thanks.

Plus a lot of them are starting to expire if you don't use them or earn more in a certain time period.  So, if you aren't taking a trip, you may as well chop food

I am not accruing my frequent flyer miles very quickly. I only go to LA and back a couple times a year.

The points I cashed in have been accruing for at least 10-12 years.

DR Jennifer - It all depends what it cause your nose to run. Do you think you're coming down with a cold? Is it allergies?  Taking a "cold" medicine for an allergy-related condition is just over-medicating yourself.

As for a non-drowsy formula, most non-drowsy medications are simply the "drowsy" versions with caffeine added to the formula.  So, if something like Sudafed does work for you, just take it with a cup of coffee or some diet Coke.  Otherwise, see if you can find one of the Coricidin medicines.  Those are formulated for people with high blood pressure, and the antihistamines they use do not cause "excitement", and they tend to be a little gentler than regular formulas.

A runny nose means that your body is working something out of it.  Just keep a box of Kleenex nearby.

Don't know if I mentioned it yet, but my KitchenAid food processor arrived today!!! It's the one I cashed in my frequent flyer miles to get.  It's even nicer than I thought it would be. I'm very excited to start using it.  I will wait, however, until I get back from my reunion

DR Cillaliz - Speaking from experience: Those blades are sharp. Very sharp.  If you do find yourself hand-washing them, you may want to invest in some of those "Orca" gloves to protect your fingers and hands.

My DH still thinks leisure suits are great. In fact, when we needed to go to a fancy soiree a couple of months ago, he was planning on wearing his. "Honestly, Dear, I don't know where it is."

Seasons three and four of Lost will be here tomorrow.  I'm taking a break from viewing anything this evening - just listening to CDs and I'll probably start on the liner notes later.

DR TCB - I can't print what I'd do to you in a public forum.           :-*

DR DAW - Could you Google for a graphic instead?  Or at least hyperlink to one.

If you'd do it to him in a public forum, why couldn't you print it?

It's the stuff you'd do to him in private the world doesn't want to know about.

DAW, I think you could find steady employment with that Tosh guy on Comedy Central (is that right?) who finds weird and wonderful websites and videos.

DR JMK - Have you ever seen Tosh and DAW in the same room at the same time?

DR TCB - ;D

I did see that one, but somehow it doesn't quite communicate the fabulosity of a leisure suit's true potential.      :)

Needs socks.

Unless something comes in the mail tomorrow for review purposes, I am beginning tonight a two and a half day vacation. I have only KAGAMUSHA on Blu-ray left in my pile, and it doesn't come out until August 18th, so I'm going to take a little "me" time the next couple of days and not feel compelled to work.

I want to be able to concentrate on doing my new exercise regimen and continue rehabilitation on these injured muscles. Of course, I'll be doing plenty of viewing, just not having to write up anything in depth.

Here is the website for Stephen Schwartz's opera, Séance on a Wet Afternoon.   There are a few sound clips scattered around the site.

And there are videos on Facebook.

My friend, Michael Marcotte, is a part of the "Séance" cast.  He's looking forward to the full presentation they'll be doing in Santa Barbara this fall.

-Ain't he got a nice punim?

Tonight I watched two more MURDER SHE WROTE episodes. One of them had Jessica being sued for using a real life crime event as the plot for one of her fictional works. George Segal, Morgan Fairchild, and Herb Edelman were guest starring.

The second found Jessica in London assisting Anne Meara in adapting one of her books for the stage. Jean March and Norman Lloyd were other guest stars involved in the murder.

Next I watched last night's LEVERAGE. A good caper and Eliot got drawn into a child abuse situation which took his focus away from the mission.

I finished my evening viewing with tonight's BURN NOTICE. Another excellent outing for the show with some real conflict developing with Michael and Fi. Bruce Campbell is SO entertaining with his offhanded way of bantering with his lines. He really increases the entertainment value of the show.

Oh, Amy!  You must, simply MUST see the series finale of NEWHART!  (not THE BOB NEWHART SHOW, though Emily Hartley's appearance makes it that finale as well in a post-modern way)!  It's one of the most humorous episodes of any television series, what with the Japanese coming into Vermont to build a golf course and of course, the "Japanese food before bed" routine.

Yes, Mark says it's one of the most famous finales ever. He thinks I might be able to find it on YouTube or something like that. I'll try. Hmmmm..."Japanese food before bed"...sounds like a BRUCE KIMMEL song. No wait...that's "Chinese Food in Bed." Sorry.

I still remembering watching this with some friends, and truly laughing out loud during the final scene...

And then I had to explain to my friends why the ending was so funny.
