Well, you've read the notes, the notes were short, sweet and contained thoughts of coming home, and now it is time for you post until the cows come home. Maybe they'll be there when I get there.
-
Here's something I never get to do - first post of the "day."
-
And the word of the day is: OMNIFIC!
-
Traveling home vibes to BK - wave when you fly over Ohio!
-
For some reason, yesterday's "New" button must have taken me to page 2, thus I had missed the pics that were posted.
-
Morning all.
That is all.
No, wait !?!
-
We went to a restaurant last night and had perhaps the most ghastly service (if you can call it that--close to 2 hours to have dinner) we had ever had. The food was great, the waiter was simply brain dead. I emailed the restaurant and to their credit the owner himself apologized profusely, is sending me a gift certificate, and promises top flight service next time.
-
No oatmeal since it's only 9:39pm on Saturday night.
We just watched another disc of Jeeves and Wooster and we shall go to bed soon.
I'm going to the BCEFA Flea Market tomorrow morning.
Night all.
-
I see the original release of this Complete Works of Bach is available at Amazon for a mere $1,800.00. The new release is considerably less than that, though still pricey.
-
And... I believe the day is catching up with me....
We shall see....
-
And the word of the day is: OMNIFIC!
And The Song Of The Day Is: PUTTING IT TOGETHER
-
For some reason, yesterday's "New" button must have taken me to page 2, thus I had missed the pics that were posted.
I was very baffled by how you missed them.
-
I was also startled to see two "new" pages to click on this early in the evening.
Bruce, SAVE AND EASY TRAVELS TOMORROW!!!
-
I'm so used to two flights everywhere from here. I hope you are only traveling once. ;)
-

Good for the restaurant. Where did you go?
-
Hello, everyone.
I've been listening to BILLY BARNES' LA. I'm so glad to have this. LA IS was used by a friend during a Bluth Brothers Theatre audition many moons ago. I've always liked it. In fact, I mentioned it to BK when we reconnected several years ago. He recalled the song, of course.
-
Bruce, where's Bill Hunt? Sooo much talent went through Bluth.
-
Wow! It's Sunday already.
DR Jose, I am suspecting that the singer is having what I'll call lesbophobia but since it's something for her to work out internally and I neither want to see her flip out nor let her marriage fall apart, I am respecting her wishes. She's a wonderful lady and a phenomonal singer and I want her to be happy. The musical director said she got very emphatic about singing it.

Until the next crisis.

This morning I went for a walk ...
No, wait!?!
-
This morning I went for a walk ...
No, wait!?!
You didn't go for a walk?
-
Wow, I took a nap and when I woke up it was a new day, on HHW at least. So strange to have the day change so early
-
DR TCB, if you want to hear Steve LaBrie sing, here's a youtube link for you:

Mikey might even enjoy it!
-
I am heating up a tv dinner and then I will finish watching HOLD THAT LINE, a 1952 Bowery Boys movie.
I have never been a great fan of the Bowery Boys, but on occasion they will make me chuckle. I watching this one maily because John Bromfield is starring in it as a college football hero. He's dreamy!

I'm off to bed. Good night, all!

For some reason, yesterday's "New" button must have taken me to page 2, thus I had missed the pics that were posted.
I was very baffled by how you missed them.
Every so often that "New" button skips pages for me. I'm not quite sure what the issue is.
-
I have had a very busy day writing three (count 'em) reviews. so I must toddle off to bed.
-
Had a fun evening. I went to an art walk and ended up buying a huge cat head sculpture. At the moment I don't really know what I was thinking. It's pretty cool, but there are so many other things I could have spent the money on. I may go out tomorrow and take a picture of it. It's going to be on display until the end of October. Haven't decided if it will be an inside or outside sculpture.
-
I'm glad I bought it...I will admit it
-
There's a little male cat who rode on the engine of a truck from Beresford SD to Sioux City before he was discovered. He's 16 weeks old and the person who has him now really wants me to adopt him. Boy, I'm not sure what i want to do. They said I can try it for awhile and if it doesnt' work they'll take him back. I guess he's a real lover and has the loudest purr. I just don't know if it would be worth upsetting the apple cart
-
from yesterday
RE: OLIVER!
David (Davey) Jones was not part of the original cast. He replaced the original actor who played the Artful Dodger. If memory serves without looking it up he was Michael Goodman. He's on the recording. Also one or two songs were dropped and later put back in by the time it got to Broadway. I think one was That's Your Funeral
-
Jeanne, Bill Hunt is still around, trodding the LA boards.
-
I'm up, and in about ten minutes I'll head downstairs. Thanks for all the strong and excellent vibes and xylophones for good weather and an on time, safe and stress-free flight back to LA - and keep 'em coming.
-
~~~Continued Travel Vibes for BK and Anyone Else Travelling!!~~~
-
Morning all.
That is all.
-
Yesterday's Topic of the Day: not too long after we moved here to Washington, when I was in high school, we (my family) went to see "The Pirates of Penzance" in Seattle at the Fifth Avenue Theatre. I don't remember too much about it, except that Peter Noone, formerly of The Herman's Hermits, played Frederic and James Belushi (then only known as John's younger brother) was the Pirate King. I think that that was the very first time that I had seen a national touring show. We all loved it!
-
Yesterday was a very long day and I'm tooooo tired to even write about it.
Today won't be as long a day, but it'll be eventful. My sister's birthday is tomorrow (Monday), but we're celebrating today, so I'll be over there in the afternoon.
-
I'm finally going to bed and when I get up, I'll write about seeing Ben Vereen in concert yesterday! He was FANTASTIC! :D
-
So,here I am at the airport. When I booked my car service yesterday I did as I always do, told them I was a nervous traveler and to please get the car there a liitle early so that it would be there when i came down. I came down at 4:40 to leave at 4:45. No car. At 4:43 I called and they told me the car was two blocks away. Good morning, all.
-
Travel vibes and xylophones for all in on the road or in the air.
-
I leave Massanutten today where I did next to nuttin' all week, except walk through woods that were rapidly changing color, take a ski lift, learn to zipline, visit wineries, etc. Guess it was a busier week than I remember.
-
Does/has anybody here watched the series Burn Notice?
Since we don't get USA it was never on here. But they've started showing the first season.
I watched the first episode and can't decide if it's something I'd like or not. I do tend to like the shows on USA (I love Royal Pains, White Collar and In Plain Sight). The lead guy is appealing. I was just curious if this is a must see show.
-
I wish wish wish I was at the Broadway flea market today. The few times I've gone I've loved it.
-
Lots of shows premiering tonight:
THE AMAZING RACE
DEXTER
DESPERATE HOUSEWIVES
BROTHERS & SISTERS.
btw, does anybody else think that BK might love DEXTER?
-
Dexter rules.
-
AMAZING RACE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
-
Loved reading all the posts yesterday....about Broadway shows, etc....
Oh....just a moment.......just a moment.....
-
Whew.....wanted to see - one more time - Gloria Wondrous go sailing out over the construction zone in her little red and black car to her demise......
-
Travel vibes for MR BK.....and for the car guy who is probably still driving around Chelsea looking for the hotel.
-
Next up CRITIC'S CHOICE.....a weak Hope/Ball vehicle.....I remember seeing it at the movies and wondering how Lucy could worry about having a baby at her age.
-
Nice new baritone, DR ELMORE.....the song will be improved by his singing it.
And it's strange that you mention Marilyn Horne singing "Jeanne With the Light Brown Hair"....night before last on CLASSIC ARTS SHOWCASE, there she was at La Scala....singing first "Beautiful Dreamer" and then "Jeanne" for a very appreciative audience....
-
Good morning, all! I slept late, catching up on sleep from the week, and now I'm bathed, dressed, and pondering today's events. I need to run down to Toyland, but with the MTA screwing up the weekend subway, i know there's probably no local service; I guess I'll make the trip tomorrow when regular service resumes. I'm trying to hold off on the laundry for a couple more days since, beginning this Saturday, I'm in a studio for five straight days,so I'll wait until Wednesday or Thursday to do it and mop the floors.
I guess I'll vacuum around 11am, and spend the day writing. I may see a movie tonight, depending on how the day goes and how I'm feeling.
BK, maybe you should just tell the car service to send the car 5-10 minutes earlier than you plan to arrive in the lobby? A couple of years ago, on a flight to London, I had the same problem: car would arrive at 4:45 am, we'd pick up Robert Kimball at 5 am, and then head to La Guardia. The car never arrived, because the driver never showed up to work, and the car service had to find someone else quick. The problem is, what do you do with all the luggage you've dragged down to the sidewalk when you need to run back upstairs to make phone calls? The answer is, you drag it all back cursing all the way, since leaving it unattended for the homeless to pick through at 4:30am is not a smart choice.
I must say that I am loving all the space now that those 22 cartons are gone.
-
Thanks for the thoughts for the parents....a photo from the surprise party....cake says....Fenced In Together for 62 Years....my oldest brother stands in the background. ;D
-
Those Cartons Are Gone - that is the title of my new gay musical.
-
Nice picture, JRand.
Where are the pictures of the gathering at Joe Allen's???
Fly safely.
Where are the pictures of the gathering at Joe Allen's???
Be careful. . .questions like this tend to raise hackles. ;D
-
Wonderful anniversary snap JRand! 62 years...that is a lot of marriage!
Hmm...do you have a photo of your parent's wedding day?
-
I plan to spend the entire day (in between naps) unpacking. We shall see how that goes.
I do....hmmmmmmm...wonder where it is?
DR JMK, I assume it is the new Brilliant Classics Complete J.S. Bach you are reviewing. The complete Helmut Rilling set on Hanssler is OP in the US, and I would love to have it, since I like Rilling's work on a few of his recordings I own. I can't imagine anyone paying $1800 for it
The set is still in print in England, and Amazon.co.uk lists it for 863.99 pound sterling, which is $1,366.75
It's still available from amazon in Germany for 1430 euros ($1928) but they list a new copy from a vendor at 549 euros. Amazon.fr lists it new at 215.45 euros, about 1200 euros cheaper than the Germans. That's a hue difference I cannot explain.
-
Wonderful anniversary snap JRand! 62 years...that is a lot of marriage!
Watch out, DR JRand60! He's got eyes on your Dad.
Mikey, are you moved in to your new apartment and has anyone started eviction proceedings?
-
And I see that those two are getting about as much unpacking done as I am.
Is that an actual photo or something you picked up on line, like all your dates?
-
Cool and rainy this morning.....it's lovely.
-
Unpacking vibes for DR MBARNUM.
-
Good Morning!
I'm up, I'm up... And... Well...
From what I can gather, I passed out in front of the TV sometime around 11:20 last night. -I remember hearing the weather report... And then I woke up around 2:30 very surprised that I had slept through the season premiere of "SNL"... I puttered around for a few minutes putting some dishes in the sink and "organizing" the pile of stuff from The Vendys that I had taken out of my bag... And then I went into my bedroom, got into bed, and the next thing I knew it was 9:30. :) -Although, I did wake up briefly at 8:30 when my clock-radio went off so that I could listen to "The Puzzler" segment on NPR's "Weekend Edition". And now that I've had some coffee...
-
DR elmore - Yep, the MTA is working on 18 of their 19 subway lines today. However, even though the 1 Train is suspended this weekend, the 2 and 3 are running local in Manhattan between 96th and Chambers, so you could still hop on a train down to 18th or 23rd.
-
DR JRand - Great photos from your parents' celebration last night!
-
Where are the pictures of the gathering at Joe Allen's???
I believe the only camera that was "flashing" at Joe Allen was the one that DR the vixter had. I'm sure that she or DR vixmom will get those pics posted sometime.
-
Thanks for the photo, JRand! I love you dad's suit! What a fine couple.
DR Jennifer - If you go back and Search the Archives, I'm sure you'll find a DR or two or three who watched and enjoyed "Burn Notice".
-
And... It looks like I'll need a second cup of coffee...
-
Here is quite an interesting upcoming DVD release for fans of Lucille Ball (or fans of Debra Messing. I always have a hard time telling them apart).
No, Larry, it IS the Hanssler--it's being rereleased by Naxos for a "mere" $299 or $399 (look it up on Amazon, can't recall right now).
-
I've been mostly pleased with the Rilling, though I have to say some of his tempi are a bit lethargic.
-
Why would anyone want to hit a clam? That would make a bruised chowder.
-
Boy, a slow morning at HHW. You would think it was Sunday.
-
And especially for DR JRand (and maybe BK), and any other fans of Santo movies...a few more releases with subtitles!
Wow! It's Sunday already.
DR Jose, I am suspecting that the singer is having what I'll call lesbophobia but since it's something for her to work out internally and I neither want to see her flip out nor let her marriage fall apart, I am respecting her wishes. She's a wonderful lady and a phenomonal singer and I want her to be happy. The musical director said she got very emphatic about singing it.
The song's been reassigned and I've redone the schedule so Steven can sing it on January 5 with his other lieder. All is good.
Until the next crisis.
January 5?
And speaking of Naxos, their online Naxos Music Library (http://www.naxosmusiclibrary.com/home.asp) is quite a great resource:
"Complete catalogues or selected recordings of over 250 independent labels such as ARC, Berlin Classics, BIS, Capriccio, Chandos, CPO, Haenssler, Hungaroton, Marco Polo, Naive, Naxos, Nimbus, Ondine and Vanguard Classics
Classical, Jazz, World, Classic Rock, Nostalgia music
Wide range of standard and specialist repertoire
More than 47,660 CD-length recordings equivalent to 684,800 tracks uploaded, with addition of over than 800 CD-length recordings every month
Music notes, cover artwork, tracklist, instrumentation and publisher information
Libretti and synopses of more than 700 operas
More than 10,000 composer and artist biographies..."
You can subscribe on a monthly or yearly basis. They also have Institutional subscriptions for schools and other organizations. -And if you happen to know someone at one of those institutions, well... ;)
-
I leave Massanutten today where I did next to nuttin' all week, except walk through woods that were rapidly changing color, take a ski lift, learn to zipline, visit wineries, etc. Guess it was a busier week than I remember.
AH! Massanutten! -When I was in college, one of my friend's parents had a place in Massanutten. I LOVED going there in the Fall and Spring. Beautiful and quiet and peaceful.
Wonderful! The voice is stunning, the camera work, not so good.
There was one moment (at around the four minute mark) that he had a momentary look on his face like What the Hell is that accompanist doing?
-
DR MBARNUM - I am more interested in the Santo releases than those Lucy "specials".
Although I must say that watching CRITIC'S CHOICE for the first time ALL THE WAY THROUGH, I found it much better than I remembered. And Bob Hope's drunk scene, which I thought at age 12 was the funniest thing in the movie, is actually pretty unfunny!
-
Rip Torn is most handsome as Dion Kapakos
He was also featured on Barihunks (http://barihunks.blogspot.com/2010/06/steven-labrie.html) earlier this summer. -And he's singing in English on the video posted there too. No subtitles needed. Although, something tells me his "language" is the least of your concerns.
I would have opted for a cab in the first place. Especially if I was staying in midtown where there are always lots of cab to be hailed - especially at that time of the day. *Most of them are finishing off their night shift at 5:00am or 6:00am, and would like to finish off their day with a nice fare. Anyhoo...
We watch it and have liked it from the very beginning. I suggest giving it another try. I remember some complaints about his mother. With time she becomes more endearing though still tough. :) I like her.
I won't make that mistake again in a busy city. I was talked into arranging for a cab ahead of time my last night in DC. While I was standing outside trying to contact the driver, who had given me his cell number, a cab circled a couple of times and then pulled into the hotel. He knew exactly who I was waiting for and said he often picks up stranded passengers.
Last night Keith & I saw this sundae, made with vanilla bean ice cream. on "Man VS Food". You have no idea how much we both want to try this.
BUTTERFIELD 8 was on this morning DR TCB.....with Elizabeth Taylor Hilton Wilding Todd Fisher as Gloria Wondrous....from the novel by John O'Hara.
Thank you, Jrand. I must have missed that post. Maybe I thought it was one of JMK's posts.
Rip Torn is most handsome as Dion Kapakos
That would be the role I played.
Thanks for the link, DR JOSE.....Mr LaBrie is most entertaining....
Is he the man they named the Tar Pits after?
Although, in the spirit of full disclosure, it was a group effort both times. :)
*Franklin Fountain does have some amazing treats. Although, another option is to head to Reading Terminal Market and combine some treats from Flying Monkey Patisserie (http://www.flyingmonkeyphilly.com/) and Bassetts Ice Cream (http://www.bassettsicecream.com/index.html) for a "Make Your Own" sundae. ;)
I'm glad it was a group effort!
I did go to the market place. I got a shoe-fly pie which my friend finished. I remembered one or two bites is all I can ever eat of those. I tasted a breakfast pretzel my friend got. I can remember what else I got though I remember it was good. It was still morning so I never thought to try the ice cream and we didn't have time to stop before taking the train home. I think I got some good candy too.
DR Jose, I am suspecting that the singer is having what I'll call lesbophobia but since it's something for her to work out internally and I neither want to see her flip out nor let her marriage fall apart, I am respecting her wishes. She's a wonderful lady and a phenomonal singer and I want her to be happy. The musical director said she got very emphatic about singing it.
DR elmore - That's understandable. Of course, now I'm wondering if she would ever approach Strauss' "Ständchen". -And that's one song that was most definitely written for a woman's voice, even though the poem is from a man's point of view. -Although, I do get get a kick out of Fischer Dieskau's recording (transposed down a few steps, of course ;) )
Hmmm.... So there's the JapanTown Soul Food Festival (http://www.nyjapantown.org/soul.php) this afternoon, and the last night of the San Gennaro Festival (http://sangennaro.org/) in Little Italy tonight. Hmmm....
LOL, sounds about right. So how good were they? Did you have vanilla or chocolate in the Mt. Vesuvius? What else did you have? I also want to try a waffle sandwich.
The first time, I believe the three creations at Franklin Fountain (http://www.franklinfountain.com/menu.php?m=1) were: Mt. Vesuvius, Southern Sympathizer and Coney Island.
And the second time: The Franklin Mint, Cherries Jubilee and the Lightning Rod.
*Oh, I guess I should mention that the first sampling took place on a Friday evening. The second sampling took place the following Saturday afternoon. All in the name of research. ;)
January 5?
Because of the demand to record in the Academy of Arts & Letters and the available dates of 17 singers, we had to take the dates we could get, so this recording is taking 3 days in September (18, 20, 21), then 9 days i October (Oct 2-6, 19-22), two days in November (Nov 11-12) and 3 days in January (Jan 5-7).
Seriously, I may have to investigate if "lesbophobia" is a common(?) issue with singers. -And by "investigate", I mean ask my fellow musical colleagues on Twitter.
Not mocking at all, DR TCB. Just confirming.
And I'm home. Even though we took off twenty minutes late (JFK is simply one of the worst run airports anywhere) we actually arrived in LA early. I want to once again thank everyone who came to the signing and then dinner and who made this such a fun trip!
I'm happy you are safely home.
Supposedly it will be 100 degrees today, but this is supposedly the last of it.
Is it JFK in general, or just Jet Blue at JFK that's the problem?
-
Does/has anybody here watched the series Burn Notice?
Since we don't get USA it was never on here. But they've started showing the first season.
I watched the first episode and can't decide if it's something I'd like or not. I do tend to like the shows on USA (I love Royal Pains, White Collar and In Plain Sight). The lead guy is appealing. I was just curious if this is a must see show.
We watch it and have liked it from the very beginning. I suggest giving it another try. I remember some complaints about his mother. With time she becomes more endearing though still tough. :) I like her.
And, like Jane, I have never missed an episode and enjoy it a great deal. With time you do appreciate that "mother" has to be an insufferable pain to put the added angst into Michael's life.
JFK, like many busy airports, schedules many more flights for a specific departure time than the runways can accommodate. A posted departure time of 8:00 AM simply means your flight is scheduled to be a part of the multi-plane cadre slotted for 8-8:30. Airlines routinly allow for up to thirty minute delays in depature in their posted schedules.
Sunday afternoon greetings! We are back from a smooth trip to Lima. I'm ready for a nap...
Great photos!
MR BK the new do is most becoming - you are ready for your big head closeup.
A TOD for Sunday.....favorite Shelley Winters performance.....
I certainly enjoy LOLITA and BLOODY MAMA
AMAZING RACE and MAD MEN tonight!
-
I'm back from the Flea Market (I've been back for a while but I napped). It was the usual madhouse. I saw some friends. I saw John Fricke across the crowd but it was so crowded that I couldn't get over to say hello. I don't really know him so much but he's a very good friend of a college friend of mine and he knows Anthony also.
I go each year to see a few friends and to get Christmas gifts for my niece and nephew who both like theatre. I buy them various theatre things which make them very happy on Christmas day. I got each of them a hat with logos from last year's season. I got each of them a 46th Annual Tony Awards t-shirt. I got my nephew a Phantom of the Opera bag (he LOVES Phantom) and my niece a Legally Blonde bag. I got them each a refrigerator magnet (niece Meet Me In Saint Louis, nephew Kiss Me Kate since they had no Phantom magnets) and I got 4 photos related to Phantom, a head shot of Mr. Lloyd-Weber, a head shot of Michael Crawford, a publicity shot of Sara Brightman and a shot of the 20th Anniversary cast of Phantom.
We are about to go out for tea with friends which will serve as dinner.
Later, gaters.
-
We're also looking forward to the Killer Clergy Law & Order: SVU marathon on USA.
-
Welcome Home, BK!
-
Nice finds, DR BEN. I was wondering how the Broadway fleas were doing.
-
...And then I started washing the dishes.
...And backing up my iPhone.
...And setting up my DVR.
...And answering some emails.
...And returning some phone calls...
Hello, everyone.
Report from LA: it is HOT!! Ugh!!
Bruce, each time I've checked the weather forecast during the last few days the temps have been raised. Now Google is saying no break from the heat until Wed.
-
Ugh! Ugh! That's all I can say.
TTFN while I try to cool off.
-
I am thinking of ordering The Patty Duke SHow Season Three and The Mothers In Law, the complete series, but I don't know why.
So, before I try to leave my apartment - again...
And this just in via The Twitter:
"Two people just paidi $1,000 each @bcefa #BwayFlea2010 to be licked by @titleofshow's Susan Blackwell. Gotta love Broadway fans!"
I wonder just how much DR MBarnum would bid to lick and/or be licked by Tom Wopat?
And what would be Tom Wopat's counter-bid?
Yesterday's CD announcement reminded me that every time I used to hear the name of composer, Les Baxter; I would picture in my mind Tarzan (Lex Barker) conducting a symphony orchestra in his loincloth.
Have a good time, elmore, whatever you decide to do this evening.
I forgot to mention that I also found the original London cast recording of Cabaret with Judi Dench on LP for $1.00. I snatched it up (I've heard tracks from it but never the entire recording) and Anthony will transfer it to CD for me.
So,here I am at the airport. When I booked my car service yesterday I did as I always do, told them I was a nervous traveler and to please get the car there a liitle early so that it would be there when i came down. I came down at 4:40 to leave at 4:45. No car. At 4:43 I called and they told me the car was two blocks away. At 4:48 I called back, told them the car was still not there and that I was getting in a cab, which is exactly what I did. Had a great cab driver who got to the airport in twenty five minutes. Line wasn't bad at all and I was through security in ten minutes. I'm now at the gate. The car service will be getting a call from me when I get home.
I hate when that happens especially in the wee hours of the morning. Thank goodness for cabs.
I wonder if the car service was just a block away. I agree with DR Elmore to tell the car service to come 10-15 minutes before you want. Because to me 3 minutes late is not really late. And the guy could have been around the corner.
Btw, i have watched the first 2 episodes of the new Nikita. ANd I really like it.
Actually the car was eight minutes late when BK told them he was taking a cab. At four-thirty in the morning, I could walk two blocks in eight minutes - even in NYC.
I hope not. I think we are going to have a very ugly ending to this game.
Welcome Two Guests!
I am looking forward to watching NO ORDINARY FAMILY on Tuesday night.
First Jennifer left, and now Matthew.
But we did pick up a third guest.
The Seahawks game may delay the start of 60 MINUTES in some parts of the country.
I like the mother much better now. I always understood where she was coming from and didn't have the same complaints about her as most people.
We watched the Event & will give it one more try. I'm so so on it. This type of series really isn't my thing.
Yes, he requested the car arrive early, however, I still call that only 3 minutes late. He should have simply given them the time he wanted the car to arrive without additional info.
Finished the second movie and I guess I'll try to do a short jog.
Welcome eight GUESTS.
BK, glad you made it home safe and sound, or at least safe.
When coming to or leaving NYC always request driver Guda. You will never be disappointed. Best driver I ever had.
Desperately in need of AC, I was pleased to find a movie I wanted to see playing near me. I saw GENIUS WITHIN: the Inner Life of Glenn Gould. I loved it. I believe it will air on PBS, if not cable, if it hasn't already. I then had an early dinner at one of BK's former faves, Delores'.
Did my jog and started a third movie, but I think I'll choose a shorter one, as I'll probably go to bed early tonight.
I ended up going to my friend Chris' apartment and we watched the Disney animated ALICE IN WONDERLAND, which always makes me laugh. Chris had never seen it so we had a good time. I've got a whole lsit of films I want to see at the moment, aso perhaps later in the week we will go see a movie.
Whew! What a day. Busy busy busy....laundry, company for coffee, cleaning up a mess of dirt that let water get in the basement, off to home depot, off to the store, cooking a great vegetable beef soup, making apple crisp...yum yum yum
So our Lima congregation welcomed a new baby last December and Fr. Richard performed her dedication ceremony on Easter Sunday. Today she walked up the aisle after church and right into my arms.
I've become convinced that the Katy perry - Sesame Street thing is a concoction of some publicist's mind. :)
Have I shared my quickie one-minute-each parodies here yet?
"Katy Perry & Sesame Street" parody theme song - She Brought "Sex" to Sesame Street
"Rainbow Connection" parody - "Cash Flow Connection" - about how they seem to be capitalizing on whatever the Katy Perry controversy is when appearing on all the talk shows hawking the new season of Sesame Street; when's the last time "everyone" cared about a new Sesame Street season starting?
tonight our church hosted a barbeque and concert with Christian Hip Hop singer Agape - the vixter belongs to a youth group at a church other than our own so she wrangled an invitation for her group tto attend - several other churches came and there wewre proabbaly about 100 - 125 kids
the singer was inspirational, uplifting and fun - he held the kids in the palm of his hand - and all the adult chaperones as well
I am so glad I went along
Well, she's pretty wobbly so her parents have a few weeks before they really have to batten down the hatches!
I doubt I'll be here tomorrow. After my morning walk with Sherlock I'll barely have time to call and wish DS Craig a happy birthday before heading out to PT, followed by errands & a doctor's appointment.
Nice picture, JRand.
So far we have been a little disappointed in the returning shows we like. I hope THE GOOD WIFE doesn't let us down.
Did you like Medium and The Mentalist?
I forgot to mention that I also found the original London cast recording of Cabaret with Judi Dench on LP for $1.00. I snatched it up (I've heard tracks from it but never the entire recording) and Anthony will transfer it to CD for me.
What a great find! Was that ever released in this country on CD?
After my nap I watched several Killer Clergy episodes and fixed dinner for the family. Now that I've seen Mad Men for the first time since Sept. 5, I'm going to crash - 'night!
I think I'll take a shower, write some notes, prep for our new announcement (announced here Saturday, of course), and then get to bed.
It's been really hot here for 2 days. Even the ocean is no relief. Only went to the swap meet. Boy am I glad I do not have room for anything. And I do mean no room for anything. Money saved. ;D
I am looking forward to watching NO ORDINARY FAMILY on Tuesday night.
Me, too. It looks like it's just another X-Men-type-knock-off, but I'll watch the first episode, at least.
It was, of course, released on CD briefly - I have it.
I have a copy...not an actual purchased CD. I love it.
Good Evening!
Well, it's currently a very cool and misty 63 degrees here in NYC. Practically chilly. Brrrrrrrrr... ;)
Yesterday, I ushered for the Washington Center for the Performance Art's 25th Anniversary CenterFest celebration. Ben Vereen was the performer and he was fantastic! It was just him with a piano, bass, drums and another percussion player. The second percussion player was his very own son. All the players were very, very good! After his show, they had a live auction and they raised a lot of money for the Washington Center. At one point during the auction, Ben came out wearing a plaid shirt and jeans and started encouraging the crowd to bid more money and was being quite the auction cheerleader when someone from the audience yelled for him to auction off his shoes! For his performance, he wore a black suit and shirt with a red tie and red tennis shoes. He yelled off stage, "Get my shoes!" They got his red shoes and they auctioned them...they sold for $1,050!! He signed them right then:
DR George - Thanks for the "Vereen Report". -Did he perform "On Broadway"? -When he toured in Pippin during the late 1980's, his "curtain call" was a 30-minute mini-concert. I liked that version/tour of the show, but I loved his extended bow.
He did do a mini-Broadway medley, but I can't remember if he sang the song, "On Broadway." He also did some songs from his tribute show to Sammy Davis, Jr. They also showed a clip of Ben on The Mike Douglas Show (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vfxSMympEgg), when Sammy showed up unexpectedly. Mike said that Ben was Sammy's understudy during Golden Boy and they then sang a bit of "This Is the Life" from the show. It was a very nice moment.
