Why thank you, Ginny.  Did you hear about it on NBC Nightly News?

No, DR TCB, just from the posts of other DRs.  It'll probably be on the news tomorrow night  ;)

It's been quite a day. Not long after I got to work I got a call and ran back home for the delivery of my new freezer.  The cats were extremely interested in the change in their world and have been excited about it all day, lol.  Tonight I went for my first work out at Curves.  I took it slow, but made it through the entire thirty minute work out. I rushed home to be here for DWS, and when I tried to shut the garage door...the opener didn't work right. AWK! One more thing going wrong. I'll call the repair man tomorrow. Hopefully it's fixable. Otherwise I will be getting very strong, I really don't want to spring for a new opener.

Thanks Jane!  I have hopes the door can be fixed.  It took about half way around the circuit the first time before it started to feel good. It really is very easy to get to and quick to do, so I'm planning to keep up.  I barely looked at the measurments...yikes! At least there's lots of room to lose

Good Evening!

Back from dinner.  My friend Michael, who's a teacher at Columbia, called me up and asked if I wanted to head out for dinner, so...

We ended up down at Florent in the Meatpacking District, and one of my favorite places.  A fun, funky vibe, and a fun, funky clientele, and some very good food (basically French bistro).  I was in the mood for a burger, so I had a burger.  Michael had their Chicken Roulade which is stuffed with a couple of different cheeses and spinach.  It was gigantic!  It even surprised the server at how generous the portion was.  -And it surprised me too since that it's my usual stand-by there, and I've never been brought one that big.  In any case, we had some great meals.  We passed on dessert, but since we were by the West Village... ;)

As we were finishing up our meal, I noticed that conductor/music director Ted Sperling walked in.  He was seated at a table by himself.  I began to wonder who he was meeting for dinner, and I wondered if it was my friend Curtis - since I know Curtis likes Florent too.  Well, sure enough, a few minutes later, in walks Curtis.  :)

*DR elmore - Curtis says HI!  :)

So, as we walked through the West Village, we stopped at a couple of places:

Magnolia Bakery - Pumpkin Spice Cupcakes with Maple Cream Cheese Icing.  -And a box of their regular cupcakes for my roomies.

Birdbath (City Bakery) - Green Energy Cookies (sort of Mexican-style butter/sugar cookie, with bits of jalapeņo pepper in them - they're not "hot", they just a neat "bite"), Gingersnap Cookie.  -And I also found out that after 8:00, the cookies and other baked goods get marked down.  :)

L'Arte di Gelato - Two words: Butterscotch Gelato.  Sooooooo Good!

*And, yes, I will be heading back to the gym tomorrow.  ::)

You know JMK, everywhere I went, when I was looking at HD TVs they told me not to buy a Toshiba DVD player...the clerks liked Toshiba TVs, but thought they made crappy DVD players.

And I do recollect once owning a Toshiba DVD player...I think it lasted a few months.

Well, DR MBarnum, if you want an HD-DVD player, they're about the only game in town, at least for now. There IS a combination player that isn't able to do all the interactive features of a regulation HD-DVD player, but their price is prohibitive and functionality limited.

So sorry to read about the HD-DVD player troubles, DR JMK. Sounds like a faulty unit, and those do happen from time to time. I'm sure they will do right by you.

I began my evening with the Blu-ray disc of LIVE FREE AND DIE HARD. In the best DIE HARD tradition, it's an adrenaline rush from start to finish. True, no human body could withstand that much punishment and still be functional, but the action set pieces are just amazing, and in high def, well, it's knock your socks off cool.

This is another of Fox's DTS-Master Audio high def soundtracks, so my den was shaking from the surround sound effects.

BONES had a wonderful episode (mystery only fair and easy to guess the culprit, all other stuff excellent), and I recorded it so I could watch it again later in the week. The character interaction on this show is simply wonderful.

Ebay imponderable--my auction of The Real McCoys season 2 is currently up by several bucks over Project Runway season 3.  Who even remembers The Real McCoys?   ;D

I remember the Real McCoys. I was even on their set once. But that was a looong time ago.

SVU had a gripping hour of crime drama and personal drama.

Nice to see Mark Valley continuing to work, but get this man another series of his own!
