Well, you've read the notes, the notes had a churro vibe and also a Charo vibe, and now it is time for you to post until the coochie coochie cows come home.
-
And the word of the day is: SPAVINED!
-
And a very happy haineshisway.com birthday to former dear reader Hisaka.
-
TOTD:
Nat - The Ties That Bind
Smile
The Song From Raintree County
A Portrait Of Jenny
Steve: More (Mondo Cane)
Going Steady
Portrait Of My Love
My Claire De Lune
Jack: The First Night Of The Full Moon
Wives And Lovers
Where Love Has Gone
A Day In The Life Of A Fool
(I could certainly list many more!)
-
My favorite Steve Lawrence track will forever and always be Go Away Little Girl.
My favorite Jack Jones track will forever and always be Lollipops and Roses, with Love with the Proper Stranger a very close second, followed by Wives and Lovers.
My favorite Nat King Cole track might be Smile, but there are many others that I adore.
-
Listening to The Happy Ending by Michel Legrand - wonderful score and sound.
-
However, I shall have to resume in the morning, as I'm quite tired.
-
A Very Happy Birthday to (former) DR Hisaka!! ;D
-
Topic of the Day: the only songs that I can think of for each singer is:
Nat "King" Cole: Unforgettable
Jack Jones: The Theme from "The Love Boat"
Steve Lawrence: "Las Vegas" from Jerry Herman's Miss Spectacular...the lyrics even refer to Steve and Edie!

Friday was an odd day off.
My mom called me in the morning, primarily because I had not responded to an e-mail she sent to my office. She never sends me anything requiring a response, so I immediately knew she had some bad news.
The last sibling of my father passed away Friday morning at 11 a.m. edt. My Aunt Fanny, who lived in Roanoke VA, was 93 years old and had been in assisted living for several years. While she always knew her daughters, other family members and friends when they visited, she had memory lapses and mild dementia. They declared cause of death as congestive heart failure. Of course, "something" must be a cause of death even when the body wears slam out.
I am not writing this to solicit vibes of sympathy. My Aunt Fanny lived a long, productive life and she was a very good woman -- as a sister, as a wife, as a mother and as an aunt.
I wasn't much in the mood to chat on any forums today, so I tackled some chores I've been avoiding forever, and I put a couple of DVDs on -- "'Follies' in Concert", "Sondheim at Carnegie Hall" and the "Candide" in concert with Paul Groves and Kristen Chenoweth. I also watched "Enchanted" on HBO in HD.
It's tough watching the "Follies" concert DVD...so many folks are now gone -- Comden and Green and the lovely Lee Remick. And seeing Dorothy Loudon performing so remarkably at the Sondheim "do" was both a joy and a sadness.
A milestone is approaching for me. One that I don't much want. But I can't stop it. Each year seems to be full of people passing on...many more people I've known or heard of than was true in my first several decades. Sigh.
At any rate, it is time I retired for the evening and gave this tired body a rest.

It's slow around these parts.
Happy Birthday to DR HISAKA.

TOD:
I like all three of these singers, but finding a favorite for each of them - not sure that I could. I certainly like all of the songs mentioned.
Jack Jones over the opening titles of WHERE LOVE HAS GONE and WIVES AND LOVERS...didn't he sing for that movie?...
Steve his hit song GO AWAY LITTLE GIRL, of course....but I also like some of his songs on the GOLDEN RAINBOW cast album, especially his version of I'VE GOTTA BE ME.
Nat King Cole...."Lazy Hazy Crazy Days of Summer" and his songs alone and with Stubby Kaye in "Cat Ballou."
-
Today is a work day....oh well.
-
Loving the pictures from the NYC gatherings!
I have not heard the LuPone GYPSY, probably never will.
Faith Dane was so wonderful....and of course playing Miss Electra in the movie version of GYPSY is a girl who can be seen almost nightly on the Game Show Network....it's the Sylvania girl from Beat The Clock, Roxanne Arlen.

August 30: Venus enters Libra
Venus loves being in her own sign, so this transit brings sweetness to all of your encounters. It's time to focus on your similarities with others and put your differences to the side. With Venus joining Mercury in a social air sign, you won't want to be alone! Make plans ahead of time. What a great transit to get together with friends or call the babysitter and schedule a date-night. Since both Venus and Libra have an eye for what's beautiful, this is a perfect time to visit your local art museum, plant flowers in your garden or even join an anti-graffiti campaign and paint a mural!
August 30: New Moon in Virgo
A new Moon in practical yet idealistic Virgo gives you plenty of energy to accomplish something that's meaningful and inspiring. All new Moons represent a fresh cycle, so this is a good time to hone in on what you want to achieve. As you think of a project, dream or goal that you want to infuse with this lunar energy, allow it to help you organize and implement those projects that are the most important to you.

Off to work oh well
-
Last night I went to see Liz Callaway with Alex Ryback at the Colony Hotel. Her program was culled from all three of her albums produced by BK plus new material. Her patter was funny and even handle some unexpected comments from an audience member. She still can sing beautifully and she is one of my favorite singers. As always Alex is one of the best musical directors there is and my mother who has seen many cabaret shows with me considers Alex to be the pianist there is. She calls him the "gold standard"
Alex and I schmoozed after the show. Liz was busy selling her cds and we chatted for a while. If I can scan the CD cover for the show she did with her sister Ann Hampton. Liz wrote an amusing little tidbit that she told me I could show her sister when I see her in a few months.
The only negative thing I have to say (and I didn't say this to Liz or Alex) was ever since I joined Toastmasters I am very aware of people who use "Umm" or "Ahh" as a cover while the next thought comes into their heads. Not always an easy thing to do, but there was far too many of them. Someone should there during rehersal with a bell or a buzzer and sound it every time an "Umm" or "Ahh" is uttered. This will cure anyone when they realize how often they use it.
-
I've never been much of a Steve Lawrence or Jack Jones fan, but picking my favorite Nat "King" Cole recording is easy.
"When I Fall In Love"
:)
-
Good Morning!
I'm up, I'm up... And now I'm wondering why I thought DR FJL was going to be in Row F last night?!?!? Hmm..
-
On the other hand, I did enjoy Steve Lawrence in the Original Cast recording of WHAT MAKES SAMMY RUN?
-
OH!!!
Victor Hawks was on last night!?!!? Awwww... Another one of my CUA alums/students. :)
-
As for Churros... The Doughnut Plant actually makes good Chrurros too. :)
-
And, for what it's worth, I DO like Allen Jones.
[For the benefit of any uninformed youngsters who prowl this board, Allen was Jack's father.]
;)
-
As for Charo... Coochie, Coochie!
-
It's funny that you guys were mentioning the sing-along MAMMA MIA movie. My mom is begging me to go with her. :)
I actually did not even realize it was playing here.
-
And now 'tis time for me to head on down to the D train in order to meet up with some fellow DRs...
Laters...
-
Speaking of Allen Jones, wouldn't it be nice if they finally released the 1936 version of SHOW BOAT onto DVD?
Jones stars in that, along with Irene Dunne, Helen Morgan, Paul Robeson and Charles Winninger.
I have a good copy that was released legally in Brazil (no subtitles), under the title MAGNOLIA.

Take your time, DR Jose. We're running a little behind - DR Elmore kept us out last night, doncha know!
-
Good morning, all! DR Jose, I suspect Victor will be in all weekend and that Danny, Rebecca and the boys are away on a long weekend.
Back to Christmas charts today; I have to finish them up and I no longer have the excuse of feeling too badly to work for a long period. I also got a new bookshelf that I need to assemble over the weekend, and if I prove inept at the assemblage, I may need to call DR Jose, Richard & Ginny to help me out.
DR vixmom, I can't believe you've delayed in getting tickets for SOUTH PACIFIC; I believe Tony winner Paulo Szot ileaves around Nov 1, so get your tickets ASAP.
Happy Birthday to DR Hisaka; I never quite figured out why she left is.

don't blame me; I just sat on a park bench with you till the 104 showed up!

Supposedly, there's a set coming out with all three film versions of SHOW BOAT, and I do wish they'd get a move on!

A muscle on the right side of my neck/shoulder is acting up. Last weekend before the circus it started hurting for some unknown reason. It has been hurting on and off all week. Last night it started hurting more. Then i went to bed and it was fine. but now it is hurting again. I have such bad luck with my back/neck!
Anybody know any remedies? Ice it? I have muscle relaxants which do help. But any type of medicine like this is almost too strong for my body. I took 1/2 of one last sunday and my whole body was out of it for more than 24 hours.
I wonder about those little pellets (homeopathic, i forget the exact name) that i took for my back all those months ago. I should probably ask the guy at that store if they could be used for this too.

It was SUPPOSED to come out this year in a box set combined with the other two versions of SHOW BOAT that Warners controls. The 1951 version was to receive Ultra-Resolution updating, and the others were to be remastered.
Alas, I've read not a word from Warner about why it didn't come out this year.
I just have to content myself with the SHOW BOAT laserdisc box and the Criterion laserdisc of the 1936 version which has Miles Krueger's enthusiastic commentary.

They are supposed to release it in a superset similar to the one released on Laser Disk many moons ago.
All three versions of the film. Silent, 30's and 50's.
Wouldn't it be great if they also add the Papermill version that was on PBS and the documentary on the making of the restored CD score that Elmore worked on.

RE: an NYC trip. No, my friends and I haven't gotten up to NYC in three years. Various conflicts and monitary conditions have continually postponed our trip. DR Ron Pulliam:
A lovely tribute to your late aunt. I felt similarly when my father passed away at 87. He had lived a VERY full life: gotten to do everything he ever wanted to do and wanted for nothing. I took great comfort in his having a long and very happy life with very little in the way of suffering or problems and felt very little remorse at his passing.

Thanks for noticing!

I've always been fond of Jack Jones' Wives & Lovers.
I realize I have been remiss in conveying some sad news. Tewkesbury, our foundling pup, that has been with us for several years had to be put down last week. About a year and a half ago, he had been diagnosed with incurable kidney disease. He defied the predictions and, for a long time, was the healthiest dying dog around...even though he was on a special diet and getting fluids twice a week (these last few months three times a week). But it was obvious, in these last weeks, he was slowing down. After a rather horrible night, where he was in great pain that no medication seem to quell, we made the fateful decision to spare him any further suffering. The doctor came to the house and gently spirited him away. The next day, we had him cremated and his ashes now reside in our pet shrine next to all our other beloved pets who've passed on. RIP, Tewkes!

Good morning!
Not so cool morning, and I shut things back up pretty quickly since the air wasn't quite cool enough to cool down the house. The A/C hasn't clicked back on yet, but it's only a matter of time.

Never been a Jack Jones or Steve Lawrence fan. Although I have on my IPOD I have three songs by Jones: Call Me Irresponsible, To Love and Be Loved, & Where Love Has Gone. I have one by Lawrence: More (Theme From Mondo Cane)

I admire all three singers in today's TOD, but I can't say that any one of them is a favorite.
Still:
Jack Jones - "Lollipops and Roses"
Nat King Cole - "Mona Lisa"
-
As for Steve Lawrence, of course I knew him from TV, but when I first heard to OCR of WHAT MAKES SAMMY RUN, I was sure he would be the next great Broadway leading man a la Alfred Drake. That is one fantastic performance on record, and I liked the show, too, and him in it.

Today I'll be watching as many episodes of GHOST WHISPERER as I can squeeze into the afternoon and evening. There are no more bonus features and no more commentaries that I noticed with a quick glance, so it will just be going through the rest of the season which will take some time.
-
Much as I like GHOST WHISPERER, I'm eager to get finished with it so I can begin with LIFE since I didn't see every episode of its half-season run. But I likely won't be getting to it until tomorrow, maybe not until tomorrow night.

Confused Woman Goes Down Baggage Chute at Swedish Airport
STOCKHOLM (AFP) - An elderly woman misunderstood instructions while checking in at Sweden's main airport and was whisked down a baggage shoot after she placed herself instead of her luggage on the belt, media reported Wednesday.
The 78-year-old woman, who was not named, was preparing to fly from Stockholm's Arlanda airport to Germany on Tuesday when she lay down on an unmanned baggage belt in the belief she was following check-in instructions, the Upsala Nya Tidning local daily reported on its website.
She was quickly swept off to the baggage handling centre, where staff members helped get her back on her feet.
The woman suffered no serious injury and caught her flight as planned.

That's not the one i have. I have (i'm pretty sure) rhus toxicodendron. I probably wouldn't use it unless i checked first to make sure this would be good for muscles.
As for seeing a doctor. I don't think i would at this point. It's not constant or terrible pain. It's just a bit inflamed. and it had almost gone away until last night when it was bugging me. But it felt find all night rested.
I am icing it now.

In "The Audacity of Deceit" you’ll learn how Obama:
• Blocked emergency medical aid for babies who survived abortion.
• Plans to ban the use of firearms by lawabiding citizens—even for self-defense.
• Was abandoned by his bigamist father and raised in a Muslim society—and
how this influences his values.
• Would raise tax rates to a Hoover-like 60 percent.
• Will transform the U.S. Treasury into the United Nations’ ATM.
• Wants fuel prices high and farmland taken out of production.
• Will grant federal medical insurance to 12 million illegal aliens and increase
emergency room costs alone by $15.4 billion annually.
• Would transfer child-rearing from parents to the federal government with his
secular “0 to 5” program.

Jennifer, it can be somewhat confusing.
ARNICA is the age-old remedy for sprains, strains, and bruises. It's also good for shock. But after several days, many homeopaths recommend one of the others.
RHUS TOX is known as the "rusty gate" remedy, ie, if you feel better with movement. It is seldom recommended for the initial injury.
I would use Arnica. Icing is good. You might want to try extra magnesium, by supplement (100 mg once or twice a day).
There are many remedies for muscular problems. I always recommend Arnica because it is usually the best choice for an initial injury. After several days it can be difficult to know which remedy is best and sometimes a homeopath is needed.
Also, drink a lot of water. I've been amazed at how I've reduced inflammation by simply drinking lots of water (2-4 qts/day). Do you take fish oils? Fish oils help with inflammation as well. If you take them by supplement, I'd recommend the top brands--Carlsen, Nordic Naturals, etc.

As an eual opportunity offender, let me submit this on Ms Palin:
Who is Sarah Palin? Here's some basic background:
* She was elected Alaska's governor a little over a year and a half ago. Her previous office was mayor of Wasilla, a small town outside Anchorage. She has no foreign policy experience.
* Palin is strongly anti-choice, opposing abortion even in the case of rape or incest.
* She supported right-wing extremist Pat Buchanan for president in 2000.
* Palin thinks creationism should be taught in public schools.
* She's doesn't think humans are the cause of climate change.
* She's solidly in line with John McCain's "Big Oil first" energy policy. She's pushed hard for more oil drilling and says renewables won't be ready for years. She also sued the Bush administration for listing polar bears as an endangered species—she was worried it would interfere with more oil drilling in Alaska.
* How closely did John McCain vet this choice? He met Sarah Palin once at a meeting. They spoke a second time, last Sunday, when he called her about being vice-president. Then he offered her the position.
I remember when abortions were illegal and a friend of mine almost bled to death in 1968 on a flight back from one, and I am very pro-choice. I also think Ms Palin sounds like the new campaign's answer to a moron like George W. McCain won't live long and we'll have another puppet to be controlled by something, I don't think the ones pushing W's string are human. Anne Coulter, p'raps?

Have walked the dogs (am dog sitting my niece's dog Piper).
Shortly I will be on my way to eat at Astro Burger and then see HAMLET 2 with friend Jim.
Now, Mikey, there may be some four letter words in HAMLET 2 that Jim will have to explain to you.

DR Elmore, there was a message from you on my cell phone..was that from today, or was this before I chatted with you yesterday (the battery was dead, so I didin't even notice until this morning).
-
Back from a medium-difficult long jog, and am listening to The Happy Ending and drinking nice cold water.
-
Arnold seems to be back on All That Chat, so hoping he's back posting here soon!

I am sorry that I have been mostly E&T since Thursday night. This was a week from Hell at work. On Monday afternoon we were forced (like good little drones) to box up everything in our cubicles; so that a crew could come in on Monday night and replace our carpet. Tuesday, we came in to find the most God-awful carpeting any of us had ever seen. We put all of our things back in our cubicles between visits from the powers to be that seemed confused by our new carpet. In the late afternoon, the word came down that they had installed the wrong carpet.
So, Wednesday afternoon we all had to pack up everything in our cubicles AGAIN; so that they could come in Wednesday night and install the correct carpet. Well the second carpet was a big improvement, but by the time I finished unpacking for the second time this week; my back was really hurting. So, yesterday after work, I cam home, took my pain pills and went to bed.

My favorite Charo memory was the time Merv Griffin insisted she perform a song on his show with Sergio Mendes & Brasil '77. Sergio did not look pleased to be sharing the stage with the cuchi cuchi girl. Ah, memories, pressed between the pages of a white spandex sequined pantsuit. :)

B.D. Wong seems to have been blogging about getting ready to do Skip's show HERRINGBONE at the McCarter. If you have a few spare hours, it's fun reading - a lot of info, but the details of the process are surely an interesting document for the McCarter.
http://www.mccarter.org/blog/index.php
It is a fine team on HERRINGBONE. I'm sure Bruce and Jose and Larry especially know some of these folk.

I am so very sorry, CP, it sounds like both sides benefited greatly by his presence in your home.

We are back "home" after a lovely brunch at Landmarc with DRs Jose and Singdaw. From there we visited some of Jose's sweet shops.
Now, I'm icing my foot and waiting for the Michigan game to start. I'll just get to see the first half or so, because we're going to Evening Prayer at St. Mary's at 5pm. We'll have a light supper somewhere nearby and see The 39 Steps this evening.
-
Ron P., thank you for the lovely tribute to your aunt. She sounded like a wonderful woman.
-
JMK, what have you done with Julie and her sister, Jane?
-
Now wait just a darned minute - Mr. Brockman is posting ELSEWHERE? Someone please drop him an e-mail and tell him to get his butt cheeks back here.
-
I suppose I shall mosey on over to Cinecon and see what's up. I shan't be there too long.
-
Good Afternoon!
So... In a nutshell...
Brunching and Other Activities in NYC
We ended up at landmarc (http://www.landmarc-restaurant.com/twc/) in the Time-Warner Center for brunch. It was a perfect day to brunch there: not at all crowded and we got seated by the windows overlooking Columbus Circle and Central Park.
We brunched on landmarc egg sandwiches, eggs florentine, omelettes and...

BACON!!
-
For dessert - yes, we had dessert with our brunch! - not only did we enjoy the complimentary housemade caramels - and our waitress even brought us some extras to take home! - but we also ended up with a complimentary "serving" of....

After browsing through the New York Running Store, and gazing fondly at the goodies in the case at Bouchon Bakery (this weekend's special donut: Raspberry Bavarian Creme!), singdaw and I posed for this pic...
I'm not sure whether to call it "Two Men and a...." or "Three...". ;D

After a brief cab ride up to 74th and Amsterdam, well... I think you can make out the writing on the window behind us... :)

Thank you very much DR Jeanne.
I called the homeopath and she said that she thought that what i had would work.
The weird thing is that as soon as i took it i fell asleep for 2 hours. Could it cause drowsiness?
Oy.
It didn't really happen because of something i did (i don't think). I just went into my sister's house. And something did not feel right. I took a muscle relexant that day. And it mostly felt better. But last night ( 5 days later) it started aching. But when i went to sleep and woke up it was fine. But then today it started aching again.
-
But TCB -- did you get a photo of the hideous carpet before they tore it out?
-
I am very sorry to hear the sad news about Tewkesbury, DR Charles Pogue. I know he brought much happiness to your home.
-
DR Ron Pulliam: Aunt Fanny sounds like a wonderful person. How wonderful that she lived such a long and happy life.
-
Happy Happy Birthday to DR Hisaka!!!
-
Then after leaving Levain, we stopped in Jacques Torres for some browsing, drooling and "wishing". Alas, no buying, but that store sure does smell something choco-licious! *And he's now selling milk-chocolate covered Cheerios (to go along with the dark chocolate covered corn flakes. :)
We then made our way back across Broadway in order to find the Van Leeuwen Artisan Ice Cream (http://vanleeuwenicecream.com/) truck. Alas, the truck was not there. However, since Grom[/color] (http://www.grom.it/eng/pages/gusti_mese.htm) was on the same block...
What was filling those cups included: (from the top right, clockwise) Cioccolata Extranoir, Pistacchio/Crema di Grom, Melone/Torroncino, Caramel/Crema di Grom. -For descriptions of those flavors, just click on the previous link. *Grom's website actually goes into some detail for each individual flavor.
*I also believe it may take Ginny's DH Richard a few days to recover the Cioccolata Extranoir. He had one of "those smiles" - a.k.a. one of "my food smiles". :D
-
The storm I wrote about on Thursday was a doozy. Lots of damage around town, although we didn't get hit hard where I live. Lots of rain, though.
It looks as though things are gearing up for another storm tonight.
-
But TCB -- did you get a photo of the hideous carpet before they tore it out?
No, but I can try to get a photo on Monday if there is any of it left.
-
Of course - as I had "feared" - as soon as we stepped back onto the sidewalk, there was the Van Leeuwen Ice Cream truck sitting right at the corner of 76th and Broadway! Since that was our original mission, I suggested to DR singdaw that he at least just ask for a sample of the Red Currants & Cream that I had waxed poetic about in/on my blog. Well, instead of asking for just a sample spoon, he came back with...
:)
-
We have a very dirty dog who is about to take a shower.
Laters.
-
So now I'm back at my apartment gearing up for the "Big Clean" - the long overdue Big Clean. I hope. DR Ginny and Richard are back at their temporary abode resting up for their evening of theatre, and, hopefully, DR singdaw should be back where he belongs by now too.
All in all, another wonderful day.
*And a Big Thank You to Ginny and David for "continuing" my Birthday Week. Truly means the world to me.
-
Oh...
P.S....
Ssssshhhh.....

Espresso and Mint Chocolate Chip. *Just two more flavors to go! ;D

So... Does that mean I should go back to the Van Leeuwen Artisan Ice Cream truck later tonight to try the Hazelnut and Giandujia? Or should I wait until tomorrow? Or just do a single scoop of one tonight, and another one tomorrow?
;D

The only negative thing I have to say (and I didn't say this to Liz or Alex) was ever since I joined Toastmasters I am very aware of people who use "Umm" or "Ahh" as a cover while the next thought comes into their heads. Not always an easy thing to do, but there was far too many of them. Someone should there during rehersal with a bell or a buzzer and sound it every time an "Umm" or "Ahh" is uttered. This will cure anyone when they realize how often they use it.
Was this her "Between Flights" show? If so... I saw her do this twice here in NYC at the Metropolitan Room, and I sort of noticed the same "issue". However, it became clear during the second time that some of those "Ummms" and "Ahhhs" were actually rehearsed. ;)
*I do love that "game" where you are given a minute to describe something without using "Ummm" or "Ahhh" or "Uhh". It's always so much harder to do than you think it will be.
-
Supposedly, there's a set coming out with all three film versions of SHOW BOAT, and I do wish they'd get a move on!
Well..
Nevermind.
Asked and answered (multiple times) by now.
-
DR Jose - you didn't!
Actually, DH Richard is holding up quite nicely. He hasn't, though, fallen asleep like he often does in the afternoons. Chocolate buzz, maybe?
At the top of the second quarter - Michigan 10, Utah 6
-
Jose - I was in Row F for the final perf of Skip's show at 59E59 on Thursday night, when Ginny and Richard were in row B. (Don't worry about it, mixing things up happens even to the best of us once we hit 40; it's kind of a line of demarcation. :) )
Hey?!?!? How come I didn't realize that Skip wrote South Pacific too?
:P
-

So that is how John Kerr got cast!

Well... I did. But purely for photographic reasons. -Yeah, that's the ticket.
*However, I did walk around for about an hour, window shopping and making some phone calls... When I suddenly realized I had walked in one big circle... And... ;D
As for the "chocolate buzz", it could very well be. The "Cioccolata Extranoir" is a Chocolate Sorbetto rather than a Gelato. So, no milk, no cream. Just cocoa, chocolate chips, spring water and sugar. Very "pure".
-
What an unexpected pleasure - "monetary" - ;D
der Brucer
Ah, well, you've provided me with some "unexpected pleasures" from time to time too, DR DERBRUCER. Merci buckets!
;)

When Charo eats a Churro, does she dance the Chimichanga?

TCB, you must. You simply MUST.
-
Boy, it got hot very quickly today. It's stifling outside right now. Argh!
-
I continued watching GHOST WHISPERER episodes this afternoon. There was that lovely Christmas episode with guest star Gordon Clapp thinking he's Santa Claus.
-
And I'm in the middle of the one with a lesbian themed plot that kind of comes from left field. Good, positive episode, though.
-
Boy, it got hot very quickly today. It's stifling outside right now. Argh!
I know just what you mean, DR MattH!
-
Still, I don't believe I'll be able to finish the rest of the box tonight. There are seven episodes left, and I don't think I can get more than five done in the time I'll have left.
-
I know just what you mean, DR MattH!
I am SO ready for summer to be over.
-
And as sort of an addendum to yesterday's Media Check, I'm currently listening to an album I picked up last night at Barnes & Noble ( ;) )...
An Invitation - Inara George with Van Dyke Parks (http://www.amazon.com/Invitation-Inara-George/dp/B001B0H7CM/ref=pd_bbs_sr_1?ie=UTF8&s=music&qid=1220128539&sr=8-1)
-What a perfect album for an (I'm-not-supposed-to-be-)lazy, summer afternoon!
-
Me too! Just another six weeks!
-
Boy, it got hot very quickly today. It's stifling outside right now. Argh!
The humidity has started to settle in this afternoon here in NYC. However, considering how glorious the weather has been this whole week, still no complaints. :)
-
We turned off the ringer on our landline phone a couple of weeks ago because it was ringing a lot and waking up our daysleeper. The handset still rings very quietly, so it is not a problem. ALL of the phone calls for the last week or so have been political junk calls. I don't even bother to get up any more.
-
We have a very dirty dog who is about to take a shower.
Laters.
I would love to see "Before" and "After" pics of DDD (Dear Dirty Dog) Sherlock sometime. Something tells me, he's still quite adorable when he's "smudged".
-
Boy, it got hot very quickly today. It's stifling outside right now. Argh!
I know what you mean, Matt H. I think it is supposed to reach 64 degrees today in Tacoma.
-
DR Richard must really love me, because he just offered to attend evening prayer alone, pick up dinner, and come back here to retrieve me for tonight's theater. That way I get to see the rest of the Michigan game (which we're losing at the moment :P )
-

-
DR Jennifer - If you did pull something in your neck, shoulder, regardless of what you end up taking for it, common sense would dictate that you try to avoid any activities that may exacerbate the problem. Be careful as you're cooking, shopping and playing with you niece this weekend.
-

Well... The still new-ish Brasserie Cognac de Monsieur Ballon (http://www.cognacrestaurant.com/) up at 55th and Broadway has a decent selection of sandwiches, salads, quiches and pastries at their Take Out counter. ;)
*Although, the Europa Café (http://www.europacafe.com/) across the street from your digs is actually one of the better locations of the franchise in the city.
-
The next time someone says, "Be still my beating heart", offer them one of these:
Krispy Kreme cheddar bacon cheeseburgers at the Google cafeteria (NYC)
Hmm... I'd have to think a bit before ordering one of those. Just a bit. ;)
*Although, I can already tell that if I did have one of those, I'd immediately get one of those "you've had too much fat in your meal" headaches. So... :-\
-
Yup, he's gonna call from Europa.
-
DR Ron Pulliam - I hope you have a weekend filled with delicious mouthfuls of Chocolate Cake (and Vanilla Ice Cream), and wonderful memories of your Aunt Fanny.
-
I'm heading back down now to continue working with the residents of Grandview.
WBBL.
-
Back in the spring I reconnected through Facebook with a long-lost college friend. I learned on FB last night that she was coming to NYC for the weekend. I just called her and we're going to try to meet up after she and her friends wave on The Today Show Monday morning. I haven't see her for something like 30-35 years.
-
Yup, he's gonna call from Europa.
Well, if you click on that link, you can start looking at the menu now, and even pre-order (if it's not past their cut-off time) your dinner so that it will be ready for Richard to pick-up.

Just remember to avoid the Dean & Deluca at Rockefeller Center... Unless you want to be "ambushed" by Kathie Lee Gifford during the fourth hour of "The Today Show". ;)
-
DR Charles Pogue - I'm sure that Tewkes is happy to be Home now in your Home in Kentucky.
-
Jose - Re your reply #128 - What did Skip do to deserve that???
-
I'm back from my second round at the market and I do believe DR MBarnum would be pleased at how his advice is being followed.
I've only accomplished two of my three goals for today, so I think I'll be a bit busy this evening. I did assemble my new bookcase and it's now in place and filled with miniature scores. and I worked on my PHI project for a couple of hours. Tomorrow is invoice day and I gotta pay estimated taxes next month.
I could blame DR TCB for his phone call, but it was the highlight of my day.
I'm sorry I missed DR singdaw but that saved him a round of 20 questions concerning a CD. I look forward to seeing lots of fantastic people tomorow night.
-
I would love to see "Before" and "After" pics of DDD (Dear Dirty Dog) Sherlock sometime. Something tells me, he's still quite adorable when he's "smudged".
;D He looked fine, it was the trail of dirt he was leaving behind that was a clue to bathe him.
That dog has many faults but what a perfect boy walking into the shower. Today he did two new things...first he waited for an "ok" from me to walk out of the shower. Then while Keith was using the professional dog blower on him, he tilted his head up to have Keith blow it on the side of his neck, below his ears. Oh so cute. Unfortunately we still haven't taken the time to purchase a new camera.
The fact Sherlock holds still for the dryer amazes me. What our professional dog dryer does is blast air that is just above cold & blows out all the water.
-
DR Richard must really love me, because he just offered to attend evening prayer alone, pick up dinner, and come back here to retrieve me for tonight's theater. That way I get to see the rest of the Michigan game (which we're losing at the moment :P )
I was hoping you would stay home & keep your ankle elevated & rested. :) Enjoy the game. I bet my brother is also home watching it.
-
Jose - Re your reply #128 - What did Skip do to deserve that???
I'm sorry, I didn't hear that. I didn't have my glasses on.
;)
-
OH!
DR FJL - My parental units have decided to go with their original plan, and not head into the city until Wednesday morning, so I should be able to join the par-tay tomorrow afternoon.
-
Well, if you click on that link, you can start looking at the menu now, and even pre-order (if it's not past their cut-off time) your dinner so that it will be ready for Richard to pick-up.
Hmm, the only menu that comes up is Breakfast and the site also says that the Broadway/53rd location is closed on Saturday and Sunday. I just looked out the window and wonder if the people going in and coming out know that...
-
And then, after that partay, it looks like I shall be heading to another partay - the one for the "launch" of the next episode of The Battery's Down (http://www.thebatterysdown.com). They managed to secure a VIP room at a bar in Hell's Kitchen for the event. Cool! I've missed the last two monthly launches, but I figured I should show up for this one since I may have some camera time in this episode (depending on how things were edited) in addition to recording the track for the featured song.
-
I was hoping you would stay home & keep your ankle elevated & rested. :) Enjoy the game. I bet my brother is also home watching it.
Well, DR Jane, the way the game is going at the half makes me think I should have gone to church and prayed - HARD!
-
Hmm, the only menu that comes up is Breakfast and the site also says that the Broadway/53rd location is closed on Saturday and Sunday. I just looked out the window and wonder if the people going in and coming out know that...
Ah, the site is in "weekend" mode for ordering. However, if you click on the PDF link for the Menu, you can download the 20-page menu for your reference. -Or you could just wait for Richard to call later. ;)
-
Looking forward to seeing you, Jose!
And continuing a lack of sense of humor about certain things on my part, Jake Wilson certainly is one of the bad ones IMHO and from his interviews about this process, he probably doesn't think he did anything wrong. His behavior in initially approaching people about composing for The Battery's Down was to say the least appalling. He sent out personalized, individualized emails to lots of composers, giving them the impression that he specifically was burning to work with them in particular and without letting them know that he was sending the same phonily-personal email to fifteen other composers. This seems to me like offering a job to fifteen people and then seeing which among them is the biggest name that responds. Rotten behavior, and he's so young to be pulling crap like that IMHO.

Those Krispy Kreame Cheddar Bacon Cheesburgers look disgusting. Of course, I feel the same way about those McGridle Sandwiches from McDonald's. Don't add suger to my bacon and eggs.

My chat with DR elmore was the highlight of my day, also.

So, what are your thoughts about pancake syrup "slipping" over on to the bacon side of your breakfast plate?
-Which, apparently, was the inspiration for this:

Gag. That would only look good if I were pregnant.

That is why I only use a divided child's plate for breakfast! >:(

CHILD'S PLATE - wasn't that the horror film with Chucky?
-
Time to get ready for our evening at the thee-ay-tuh!
Bye for now!

CHILD'S PLATE - wasn't that the horror film with Chucky?
I thought that was the original working title of "The French Chef"?

Kerry, why are there all those straight people in your hallway?

Imagine, if you will. a producer saying the following in emails to fifteen different directors, or pianists, or lighting designers, or costume designers, orchoreographers, or music directors:
"So, here's where you come in! I would love nothing more than to work

I don't usually wear a cup.

I don't usually wear a cup.
Can't find one big enough?
-
DR FJL - I had no idea. I just got a call and/or e-mail or two, and since I was available...
-
Jose - Nothing to do with you, of course, or anyone besides Wilson himself.
And he seems proud of how he went about this process. In an interview with ny1, he said:
“I actually got the idea back in November and sent a mass e-mail to about 15 composers that I had in mind for the show and surprisingly half of them wrote back and said that they were interested - and from there I got other writers on board,” said Wilson. “For example, the writer of ÎHigh School Musical’ and ÎHigh School Musical 2’ is actually going to do an episode in the summer.”
-
Kerry, why are there all those straight people in your hallway?
Well they're hanging straight anyway (for the moment). Ahem. Jason Graae, however, keeps inching toward George Nader. John Gielgud inches toward Tab Hunter, too. And I inch toward Guy Madison. Who can explain it; who can tell you why?
-
I don't usually wear a cup.
Protective gear is very important and can be most intriguing at times! :o
-
Can't find one big enough?
Nope, small enough.
-
Of course, I'm really not the one who should be bothered by this, but it's weird to see a young actor, who knows what it's like to be out there hoping for opportunities, to offer opportunities without meaning them.
-
DR Charles Pogue, I was saddened to read about Tewkesbury. My condolences to you and La Jolie Femme.
-
I'm in such a mood. I need a mini-HHW gathering to snap out of it! :) :) :)
So far, it looks like the attendees will be: Ginny, Richard, Larry, Jose, vixmom, vixter, Skip, me (and of course Toby and Dylan)

The First Moody Musical - that's the title of...oh, wait -

The First Moody Musical - that's the title of...oh, wait -
Well, how about "The First Doody Musical"?

FJL, don't worry -- I expect that it will end up biting him in the butt. Everyone will find out about it.

And now, Ladies and Gentlemen, tonight's monsoon storm is about to begin!

More TOD: Jack Jones-- so many good ones--
"Wives and Lovers"
"Lollipops and Roses"
Yes even the theme from "The Love Boat" (just because he was so perfect for that)
I believe on one of his later albums, he did a version of "With One More Look At You" that was dynamite.

Hmm... Currently on "Paula's Party", Paula Deen is featuring "Deep-Fried NYC Foods". So... coming up on this show: deep-fried bagels and deep-fried cannollis. I'm actually a bit scared. Intrigued, but scared.
-
Well, how about "The First Doody Musical"?
Not another revival of GREASE, please!
-
And now, Ladies and Gentlemen, tonight's monsoon storm is about to begin!
Can you set up your camera to take time-lapse pics?
-
TOD:
Jack Jones: difficult to say since I have five complete Jack Jones albums, or is it six?, in my ITunes...I do love the way he sings Michel Legrand, though.
Nat King Cole: Easy. "Route 66." And I've never caught up with his theme from Alfred Hitchcock's MARNIE, and I would like to.
Steve Lawrence: Even easier. "I Gotta Be Me."
-
This morning, our family all went to breakfast at a local restaurant (Budd Bay Cafe). I had the biscuits and gravy with scrambled eggs. It was all very good. I'm still kind of tired from getting up much too early on a Saturday, but the upside was that I came to work early enough to make up the time that I needed to...well, most of it. :)
And now, I'm leaving work. Until later!
-
Not another revival of GREASE, please!
No. That would be the sequel.
-
Can you set up your camera to take time-lapse pics?
No, it's not that good a camera.
-
DR Kerry took me to see Steve and Edyie once. I gotta say, Steve has still got it.
-
And I still can't believe that I forgot my camera yesterday. I could have taken a picture of exactly where Doris peed.
-
DR Kerry took me to see Steve and Edyie once. I gotta say, Steve has still got it.
Eydie did too. They were fantastic!
-
Sincerest of vibes to DRs Pogue and Ron for their losses.
-
Well, DR Jane, the way the game is going at the half makes me think I should have gone to church and prayed - HARD!
;D
-
Well, since I haven't done any cleaning yet, I guess it's time for me to head out for dinner.
;)
Laters...
-
Those Krispy Kreame Cheddar Bacon Cheesburgers look disgusting.
An understatement :P
-
My chat with DR elmore was the highlight of my day, also.
Mine too :D
-
For DR Kerry:
-
Gag. That would only look good if I were pregnant.
Goodness, I would have lost it for sure.
-
Thanks, DRs JoseSPiano and Ginny and DH Richard for a delightful eating and walking and talking tour! :)
Thanks, also, DR JoseSPiano, for the photo documentation.
THE ENABLER does indeed strike again!!!
-
Jose - Any word on ACE at the signature? I'm planning to see it while I'm in D.C. next weekend.
-
And I think that an Amazon Kindle may soon be arriving at a certain home in Ohio! ;)
-
I truly regret that I shall be unable to attend the gathering at DR FJL and Skip's tomorrow evening.
-
We'll be watching "Send Me No Flowers" in your honor. :)
-
And playing a certain Babs/Neil Diamond duet? ;)
-
Is anyone else seeing a weird split screen in the "quick reply" box at the bottom of their HHW screen?
-
Back from errands and a visit to the dealer rooms at Cinecon. But first, let me add myself to those who find those Krispy Kreme egg sandwiches gross-looking beyond belief. Krispy Kreme is so yesterday anyway - aren't most of them out of business?
-
Is anyone else seeing a weird split screen in the "quick reply" box at the bottom of their HHW screen?
It's just you -- you are ill at the thought of those Krispy Kreme bacon monstrosities.
-
The Cinecon dealer rooms were quite devoid of buyers - just a handful of people wandering around. I did see a couple of dealer pals, and bought a couple of really cheap DVDs and three weekly Varietys from 1969 - one of the headlines was particularly funny to me
BIG QUIZ: WHEN WILL SEX PIX END?
This in 1969, two years before actual porno hit theaters.
-
One of the cheap DVDs I bought was a home-grown DVD of The First Farewell Jack Benny Show, which I'm very anxious to see. I also got a Spanish import of Five Fingers with James Mason and a score by Herrmann, and not available in the States. And the Criterion Naked Prey - for fifteen bucks, which is about sixty percent less than its asking price.
-
Watching Project Runway, and something confuses me which I don't THINK is a spoiler, but jut in case:
PROJECT RUNWAY POSSIBLE SPOILER
What is the point of an outfit that a model can't sit down in? Is there any practical value in such an outfit that is not wearable in real life?
-
DR Kerry took me to see Steve and Edyie once. I gotta say, Steve has still got it.
Lordy, Miss Laura! You sound like DR MBarnum.
-
After Cinecon, since I was right there, I stopped in at the adjacent California Pizza Kitchen and had a roasted garlic chicken pizza - very filling, very good, and, I think with the four-mile jog, just fine for my meal o' the day.
-
I may go back to Cinecon briefly tomorrow because one of the dealers wanted to get some Scent Of Mystery CDs.
-
Is anyone else seeing a weird split screen in the "quick reply" box at the bottom of their HHW screen?
I did earlier, but it went away. As did I.
-
For DR Kerry:
This is great! Perhaps on another drive. I only want "Brand New" dead things-- not used ones!
-
And I still can't believe that I forgot my camera yesterday. I could have taken a picture of exactly where Doris peed.
Doris Day?
-
Doris Day?
No, Wee Baby Doris (my angelic neurotic brilliant stubborn Basset Hound--- can't imagine how she'd get so neurotic with me raising her since she was a puppy ::). But it was during the day that Doris peed there if that helps you.
-
My quick-reply box is normal.
-
And how many of us can say THAT?
-
Listening to William Alwyn's score to Shake Hands With The Devil, and then I think I'll check out this Jack Benny special.
-
My quick-reply box is normal.
Ah, and now so is mine!
Everything is now right with the world.
-
T.O.D.
Steve Lawrence - I loved just about everything he sang (GO AWAY LITTLE GIRL, I'VE GOTTA BE ME). I thought he was incredible. I am very glad that he and Edyie had such a wonderful marriage, but I couldn't stand her on stage. My feelings were not helped by reading William Goldman's THE SEASON.
Nat King Cole - MONA LISA, NATURE BOY, UNFORGETTABLE
Jack Jones - Well, I never met his wives, but when I was in high school and college, I certainly would have liked to be one of his lovers.
-
And how many of us can say THAT?
Not me!

Our monsoon storm seems to be delayed. It sure looked like it was about to strike.
-
It is very windy here, however it doesn't appear it will rain.
I was lazy & drove to the mail box. I'm still doing laundry & putting stuff away from our trip, and pre-trip, as well as washing towels from Sherlock's shower. He uses two loads worth.

Iowa College President Quits Over Beer Photo Scandal, Gets $400G
FORT DODGE, Iowa — An Iowa community college president resigned less than a week after a photo was published appearing to show him pouring beer into a young woman's mouth.
The school's board of trustees on Thursday unanimously approved Robert Paxton's resignation. It also approved a severance package that officials said was valued at about $400,000.
A lousy 440K - that'll teach him!

HAMLET 2 was one of the funniest movies I have ever seen.

That is a very frightening path!
Indeed!
The Mayor of New Orleans has ordered a mandatory evacuation.
The issue is not will their be victims, but rather, where will the victims be.
The Republicans have tough choices to make, To hold a celebratory convention while people are running for their lives is not a good idea.
One of the prime reasons for a convention is to get PR - and now all eyes will be on the Gulf Coast, not the Twin Cities.
The logistics of postponing the convention are horrendous - in fact it is well neigh impossible; rearranging thousands of hotel accommodations and convention space on short notice just can't be done.
One way or another, the Republican Party must meet in convention to conduct the business of the company.
I suspect the convention will proceed on schedule with a re-arrangement of activities and a radical very definite change in tone.

I have a question for the foodies regarding prime rib:
I know it is a standing rib roast, and I only see it around the holidays in the store. What do they sell it as the rest of the year?

You get get the bone in variety if you ask your butcher; otherwise, they usually sell rolled rib roasts (the ones tied up with butcher twine).
Only a real purist would notive the difference in flavor bewteen the bone-in standing roast and the bone-out rolled roast - and the rolled roast is a bit easier to prepare and serve.

I'm very logey - I was watching a film and kept shutting my eyes, finally stopped the DVD, slept for thirty minutes and I'm now groggy but shall go back to the film.

If you have a BIG LOTS near you, check it out...tons, and I mean tons, of DVDs for just $3.
I bought a double feature of THE GIANT GILA MONSTER and THE KILLER SHREWS.

Good Evening!
I'm back from dinner. I met up with my friend, Michael - who was also at La Cocina the other night - and dined on Thai food at Pam Real Thai Encore. (Yes, that's the real name of the restaurant.) We had tried to get into the "real" Pam Real Thai, but they were quite busy, and I've learned over the course of a some visits that when they are crazy-busy there, the service and kitchen begins to "lack", so... "Encore" was busy, but not too busy, and I also noticed that there was a huge Thai family having some sort of celebration dinner there, so...
The food was very good, and the portions were quite generous too. I also think the prices may have been lowered since the last time I was there; Michael and I got out of there for just $18.00 - and that included a rather generous tip! -Well, Michael got out of there for just $18.00 since he ended up treating me for my ever-continuing Birthday week. :)
-I'm lovin' my 40s so far! ;D

DR FJL - Real models don't sit down.

Hamburger.
;D
But, as other DRs have already stated, you can buy prime rib throughout the year as just "prime rib". -Usually it is cryovac'd "off the bone".
*I still remember going to Faneuil Hall in Boston with my godparents, and they encouraged me to order the Prime Rib at Durgin Park (http://www.durgin-park.com/web/). WOW! It was the first time I had had Prime Rib served on the bone. I felt like Fred Flintstone!

And I hope that DR Ginny and Richard didnt/don't have a hard time making their way back across Times Square after seeing The 39 Steps tonight. Times Square was very, very, very busy and crowded when I was down there about an hour ago. -Which was quite a change from earlier today.
-
OH!
And on my way into my building, I ran into the landlord's assistant, and asked him if he knew if there was any sort of time-table in place for the work on the new water heaters and boilers. It turns out the landlord is having all of the water heater and boilers in all three of her buildings replaced. They are already running two weeks behind on the first building. And we're in the "third" building. So.. Guess I can rearrange my room after I get back from Charlotte next weekend. :)
-
I only see it at Christmas time, and it is called standing rib roast and it has no bones.
-
It looks as though tonight's monsoon storm missed us. It looked all day like we'd get one for sure. Such is life in the desert.
-
As for Hurricane Gustav... Let us just hope - and Pray! - that History does, indeed, NOT repeat itself.
-
My Box looks fine too.
Dare I even go there??!?!!? ;)
-
I only see it at Christmas time, and it is called standing rib roast and it has no bones.
Hmm.. A standing rib roast with no bones? Hmm...
So, if it has no bone, how does it "stand"? ;)
In any case...
I understand your confusion - and after Googling for some more information, I'm a bit confused right now too. However, after some of the Googling, I came across this informative article:
Cooking Perfect Prime Rib - Standing Rib Roast (http://whatscookingamerica.net/Beef/ClassicPrimeRib.htm)
-
Dare I even go there?!?!?!!?? ;)
Well, I'm sure this would be DR elmore's response:
"Why not? Half of New York City has."
:D
-
We will certainly pray that Gustav hits unoccupied land and "downsizes" quickly.
-
I had no idea as my mother purchased prime rib all year round. I didn't know it was the same thing as a standing rib roast.
Two separate issues:
"standing rib" refers to the cut of meat.
"prime" refers to the USDA grade of beef.
Unfortunately, most people confuse the two and refer to any grade of rib roast as "prime-rib". Very few butchers actually carry USDA Grade Prime beef - is is exported to Japan or reserved for hotels and restaurants.
Butcher shops selling beef that has not crossed state lines often market non USDA graded beef.
The regular cow sold in markets is USDA Select, or it's equivalent The better cuts are USDA Choice.
der Brucer
-
We will certainly pray that Gustav hits unoccupied land and "downsizes" quickly.
There is little unoccupied land in its path - Gulf Coast real estate is quite desireable. Also, even if it "downsizes" the giant wave surge it is generating will still continue on to shore and cause considerable damage. What the fat boy who just did a canonball gets out of the pool, the waves he created still cross the pool. Remember, the majority of the damage Katrina caused to New Orleans was not casued by the wind, but by the wave surge.

What is the point of an outfit that a model can't sit down in? Is there any practical value in such an outfit that is not wearable in real life?
I don't think that was the design, DR Fred. I think the designer just ran out of time to stitch it properly, so to keep the thing together before the show, he asked her not to sit down.

Tickets are now on sale to AmEx cardholders for the Broadway production of WHITE CHRISTMAS.
Does that count as a Christmas sale sighting?

Yes, DR Jose, it was mobbed when we left our show and we dove right into the thick of it by stopping at both M&M World and Hershey on the way back. At one point, I commented to DH Richard about the contrast between those crowds and the quietness of Time Warner Center and the UWS this morning. At least we now have treats to take home to people, plus a few items for ourselves.
Oh, and we had fun seeing The 39 Steps!

We had a sprinkling of rain, but I still plan to mow the front yard tomorrow morning.

I'm halfway through watching TROY: THE DIRECTOR'S CUT. Because I can.

I will be cooking a standing rib roast, bone-in of course, on Wednesday.

I did manage to watch all of the remaining GHOST WHISPERER episodes tonight with time to spare. I had forgotten some of those revelations from the season finale, so it was good to see them again. Very touching.

I'll be watching LIFE tomorrow. There are eleven episodes in the box plus a fair number of bonus features on the three discs. I should be in good shape to get it watched and written up before its street date on Tuesday.
-
While I'm cooking and eating lunch tomorrow, however, I think I'll put in the 1936 SHOW BOAT on laserdisc since we were talking about it earlier today. Haven't watched it in awhile, and I'm sure I can watch the first side before getting back to work.

Brave or stupid! Although, on DR MBarnum's test I just scored 24, so I must be brave. At least my foot didn't get stepped on.
And, we noticed that once we got above 50th on our walk home along Broadway, it calmed down a lot. I was glad to see our porchlight the marquis on the Ed Sullivan Theatre.

I am in the midst ofwatching a very fun old Bollywood film...SAAZISH (1975) starring Dharmendra, Saira Banu, Helen, David, and Rajendranath.
It is quite kitschy and very James Bondian. I like that in a movie.

DRLaura is picking me up for church tomorrow, and when I get home, DRMusicGuy will be bringing Sugar over to see me. I'll take off my glasses, let her lick my face and give her lots of healthy ttreats (Sugar, that is-- not DRLaura). He'd been without power for two days from the last storm.
Off to bed. Good night Jon-Boy.
-
I think I will have to finish the movie tomorrow.
I see by the scores of a few other DRs that they rated higher on the intelligence quiz then I did. Thus I think it would be prudent for me to retire to bed with some reading material, don't you?
Thank goodness my latest issue of Bollywood Filmfare magazine arrived today.

Perhaps dear reader Kerry can find out why MusicGuy hasn't responded to my e-mail of two weeks ago.

I do hope the roasted garlic chicken pizza wasn't harmful - I just think after a four-mile run you can eat one excellent meal a day, and that was mine.

Listening to one of my all-time favorite movie theme albums - Ray Heindorf's Top Hit Film Themes 64 - what sound, what arrangements, what playing. Tom Jones, The Cardinal, Toys In The Attic, The Prize, etc.

I would like to state that I have never licked DR Kerry's face, with or without his glasses.

bk - Just enjoy the food. Stressing and worrying about your food isn't going to do you much help, in fact, it could be harmful. One has to eat to live, so just eat. The more you "worry" about it - and share that "worry", the more you're liable to lapse.

Finished viewing and shall now listen to music prior to writing the notes in a few minutes.
-
AARRGGHH!! Today after work, I came home and took a little nap. I then decided to go to Borders, because I had a coupon that expired today to get 40% off up to three single-disc CDs. I went to Barnes & Noble first because it was on the way and I bought the Planet Earth Monopoly (this was a good thing):
-
I also got the B&N exclusive, 2-disc special edition of Patti LuPone's Gypsy (http://music.barnesandnoble.com/search/product.asp?EAN=610583244625) (I thought that I had pre-ordered it, but I only realized yesterday that I hadn't) and a Stephen King book for $6.95 (originally $28!) but I forget the title.
-
These were also good purchases. :D
-
So then I go to Borders. It took me a while, but I eventually found three (and only three) CDs that I wanted to get but two of them were actually 2-disc sets, so the coupon couldn't be used for those. But for some reason (and here's the AARRGGHH!! part), I was thinking that I had to get three single-disc CDs to get 40% off all three CDs, but I only had one single-disc CD, so I didn't get any of them. :P
I could've at least gotten one CD. :-\
-
Oh, well...I got some stuff at Barnes & Noble, so I did get some impulse shopping done. ;)
-
And that was my day. :)
