ONE FOR THE BOOKS

Well, you've read the notes, the notes were one for the books, and now it is time for you to post until the unfeeling and callous cows come home.

I went to my sister's house to discuss what we're doing for his birthday.  Tonight, we're all meeting at my sister's house for dessert.  She made some vegan chocolate cupcakes...and they are good! :D

This Saturday, we're going to have breakfast at Budd Bay Cafe, on the waterfront in downtown Olympia.  Good eatin'. ;D

And now for something COMPLETELY different...when I got home from my sister's house last night, there was some paper stuck to my door.  It was a Sex Offender Registration notice! :o

Evidently, a convicted sex offender who "pled guilty to Sexual Abuse 2nd Degree in...Oregon and was sentenced to 8 days which was suspended at the discretion of the probation department...has registered with the Thurston County Sheriff's Office indicating he will be residing in the area...."  The details of his case are described and it also says that he is no longer under supervision.  Then, several pages of Sex Offender Information and the history of the law are included.

I've never heard of anyone I know getting something like this. :-\

I know that I personally don't have much to worry about, but there are quite a few children who live here in the condo complex and in the many apartment buildings on this street...AND only about a quarter mile away from where I live is a high school.

Sounds like the start of a vigilante campaign. In some jurisdictions "watering" a tree in a park (if kids are present) or flicking a girls rump with a towel at a public pool are "registerable" sex offenses. Your neighbors need to worry less about the registered sex-offender down the block and worry more about Uncle Jake - most sex offenses against minors are committed by relatives!

IRONY 101"

Mark Spitz left amatuer swimming after the 1972 Olympics to earn a decent living. It wasn't until 1998 that Olympians were allowed to pocket endorsement bucks. Michael Phelps has been made a millionaire as an Olympic swimmer between 2004 and today - and can keep on training (and earning) for the 2012 Olympics.

Good morning, all! I slept very poorly and my stomach is in an uproar this morning, so I'm very glad I made the appointment with my doctor.

I've got my notes on both breakins to refresh my memory and at 9:30 I have a meeting with ADA Helen Ahn before the grand jury session . I have no idea how long this will take,

Morning all.

Well, I'm in here without problem and I got in last night without problem. Things seem to be back to normal.

Work continues apace. Annie E. Casey nears finish and I have a meeting at 11am. I also have to review a report.

I also must go uptown to the Credit Union. After work I'm visiting with a friend for a while and then I'm meeting a different friend (she's in NYC from DC for business). We're having dinner at Angus McIndoe before she goes to see Gypsy.

And I'm the only one here but I won't take us to Page 2. I'll leave that to some other poster.

And the word of the day is: REPREHENSIBLE!

Vote for song of the day: "I'm a Bad, Bad, Man"
Alternate: "Mr. Horrible" by They Might be Giants, which actually has the word in the lyric.

RE: the olympics.

Interestingly right after i posted about yesterday morning's 100m women's hurdles i went upstairs and noticed they were showing it on NBC.  It was interesting because of how different the coverage was on NBC vs CBC (in canada).

Now i get why the focus would be on the favored american athlete (CBC usually features any canadians in the finals and also features the lead contenders). But it was just so odd. It reminded me of the posts that mentioned the cameras only focusing on michael phelps during the award presentation.

It wasn't even exciting watching the canadian athlete because she was not in the screen at all. Not even at the finish.
