How nice it was not to have to get up at 5:30 in the a.m. to hit the road by 6:30!

Vibes that they're helpful!

One, Two, Three was absolutely incredible last night.

I know I appreciated many of the lines and "bits" WAY more than ever before. Every little thing is etched to perfection, Cagney is a force of nature, and the movie couldn't possibly look any better than it did projected in 4K on the 38-foot-wide screen.

(Not everything shown there is "in" 4K, but this theater is fine-tuned to perfection and 2K stuff is positively gorgeous as well.)

Kevin Ayers, impossibly deep of voice, sings, “May I?”

I'd forgotten this yesterday, but part of the nice memory of seeing the movie when it opened is that it was a good friend's dad who took my friend and me to see it. (Their mom was out doing something that night. They were a family I really liked, in an interesting house I really liked, and unfortunately I foolishly lost touch with them when we moved across town some months later.) After the movie his dad explained to us boys what that then-new Berlin Wall thing was all about -- and to the best of my memory, at that tender age, that was my first ever awareness of the Wall.

I remember in Cagney’s autobiography he said maybe the only actor he couldn’t stand in all his years of making films was Horst Bucholz.

Yes indeed. The gentleman introducing the film mentioned that. Does Cagney also state that the making of the film was so exhausting (and not a totally pleasant experience) that that mostly accounts for his then-retirement?

It's interesting, too, because Bucholz is, himself, something of a "force of nature" in the film.

I never understood any of the hoopla over Horst Buchholz.  Oh, yes, there was "hoopla" or he would not have made a bunch of films, including "The Magnificent Seven" and "One, Two, Three."   Of course, he missed out on a few roles, such as Tony in "West Side Story" and the Omar Sharif role in "Lawrence of Arabia."

He came to Hollywood in the 50s and was labeled the "German James Dean".  Meh.

I slept.

I awakened.

I arose from bed.

I ambled into the den.

And here I sit, awaiting the motivation to do more.

For some very odd reason, it "feels" like Friday.

I know it's not.  I have much to do before Friday, but there it is.

Next week, my calendar is a blur.  Five appointments in the first four days.

It could not be helped, of course.  The Stemwave appointments are two of them.

My head is still reeling from finding no mail (zilch, zero, nada) in my post office box yesterday

On the up side, I did have two deliveries to my home:  Autographed copies of "Wicked" (Easton Press special edition signed by Gregory Maguire) and Judi Dench's "Shakespeare - The Man Who Pays the Rent".

Meanwhile, the cicadas continue their noise which can be heard everywhere I go, although they are noisier in rural areas where there isn't a lot of activity otherwise.
