DRMATTH I remember you liking the CD so much - I am very happy to get it!  I encouraged the guy I bought it from to come to HHW and check it out!

Yes, I should have added the glow to EYFC!!!

One of the actresses TOOK my video tape.....but DR GEORGE if you have a video of the show, I would love to have a copy!  Maybe someday mine will resurface!  I will always remember the night the girl playing the girlfriend of the club owner came out after a quick change with her sweater wrong side out.....shoulderpads and all.  And she was the last person in the theatre to know!!!

I can certainly look for my Angry Housewives video.  I think I know where some of my local production videos are.  I'll let you know if I do (or don't) find it.  But I have to warn you, it's just a camcorder in the back of the theater, not a professional quality job at all.

Well, I have to sign off for now.  I won't be able to be at chat tonight.  I have some "necessary evil" (in other words, I don't wanna do them) errands to run.  Have a good chat!

As we were discussing this duo not long ago here on HHW...

Dick St. John of the duo Dick and Dee Dee died Saturday at his home in Pacific Palisades from a fall off of a ladder. He was 63. Very sad.

If you like, Jane, I can post a couple of the receipes I found or I can send them to you if you like.  Thanks for looking anyway.

Sorry Jason but I liked Mr. C's look.  Maybe not the pictures of what I saw in the previews (I thought he looked like the Joker to be honest  and held my breath hoping that would be changed) but the final costume looked just fine to my eyes.

I can't imagine him sounding bad doing a song either.   I might like someone else's version better--that's true--but I've never outright hated any song I've heard him do.

I don't know anything about a wig fight or I don't remember it.

Danise I saw the recipes, thanks.  I was more interested in what gobs are.  I couldn’t find a history of them, however, I did find recipes for pumpkin whoopee pies (gobs).  Seems they are the same thing.  I have heard of whoopie pies and my curiosity is satisfied.

We must have posted at the same time MBarnum.  Thanks.  I didn't realize that old picture could be turned into a "dress up" doll but it seems to work!  As long as I can find the right "Accessories", I'm ready for any occasion.  LOL!

It is too late now for the guy with the snow plow to come and finish our driveway.  I think we did enough that I can take our 4Runner with the studded tires out tomorrow.  (I think I just set myself up for some interesting comments).  We shoveled snow for at least three hours.  I have had Tylenol, wine and some hot soup I made.  Now I’m going to take a nice long hot shower.

My Gosh, Jane, I think you may have come up with the ultimate 21st century product -- Tylenol wine!

I realize the invention came about as a result of my poor reading skills, but we just might have something here.

Sorry to hear about Dick.  I saw him quite often at Varese, and he gave me his cookbooks last time I saw him.  We knew each other casually from the sixties.

Re Dick & DeeDee. Appropriate (almost) title for today's notes. "The Mountain's High". Loved their version of John D Loudermilk's "Thou Shalt Not Steal" also.

Just one note of "It Only Takes a Moment" in that nasally squeak he called a singing voice back then is enough to send my eardrums screaming in pain.

To be fair, his maturity has given his voice a much more sonically pleasing timbre.

Good evening!

I haven't read today's posts - well, the ones since I posted since this morning.. yet... But I did want to post at least once while I was still semi-awake...

What a wonderful way to spend my "day off" -> in rehearsal!  Truly, it was.

I started today on a new play by Craig Wright called Melissa Arctic.  It is being presented by the Folger Shakespeare Library in Washington, DC - what an amazing organization/space/cultural depository.  I don't want to give away too much about the play at this point and time, but I will say that:
-It's an adaptation of Shakespeare's A Winter's Tale.
-It has some music in it - which is why I'm on the team - duh!
-Craig Wright has had his work produced in DC and NYC - among other places.  His most recent piece being Recent Tragic Events, about 9/11.  He's also one of the staff writers for HBO's "Six Feet Under".
-It's an amazing cast.
-The whole "vibe" today was very fun and "functional" and open.
-I'm finally working with some of the "other" actors in town - the ones that do primarily straight plays.  It's so cool to be working with people I've only read about in articles and reviews.
-And there is definitely a sense of magic in the air. :)

I feel so fortunate to be a part of the process - and I'm basically just helping out the first two weeks of rehearsals as the assistant musical director.  And I'll be the "understudy" musician during the run.

But, really, it was an unexpected treat, pleasure and privilege to be in that rehearsal hall today.  Yes, I will have some long days ahead of me this week with rehearsals during the day and a show at night, but I have a feeling one process will just energize the other!

If any DRs want to check it out, the website for the Folger is http://www.folger.edu.  You'll find all the links to all their programs, including the theatre - and the play.

OH!  And I have a date for New Year's Eve!!!

A reminder that my New Year's Eve date is with Paul Mecurio. I'll just have to get used to the idea of sharing him with a theatre full of strangers.
Good to hear about both your day and your date Jose. Dates, figs what's next? Ah Raisons.

Good for you, DR Jose! Some of us will be dateless but happy for those who will have "escorts." Of course, you will HAVE to kiss and tell. That is the rule here at HHW, isn't it?  :D

I get to "Drop a name" for a change. Give some credit to Mr Crawford's singing teacher Ian Adam who "took him in hand" for "Billy", "Barnum" and "Phantom". According to Ian, Michael did not even sing a few lines at a time for "Dolly" or "Forum". He could not "sing" and knew it.

MattH: The hula-dancing Cosette's arms are hooked up to a motor so she dances and Annie is on hinges, so she swings back and forth like a door. It's quite imaginative.

Whew!  What a lovely number of lovely posts to catch up on!  Now for a few more of my own before getting ready for bed... I have rehearsal at 10:00AM... and after not having to be up until Noon-ish for the past couple of weeks... Oy Vey!

DR Jason - Shall we assume those pics were taken with your new digital camera?

*And remind the GoldDiggers that it is a little bit of a hike from Ollie's to The Gerswin - at least I think it is - well, it's more than two blocks, and during "theatre rush hour".  -If they pick up their tickets earlier in the day...

Sorry to hear about your mail woes.  I had a minor one this week myself.  I mailed a Christmas present to a friend in Richmond from Fairfax, VA - from the nice big post office right by my parents house.  This is the post office that gets my letters to Richmond overnight automatically - and that's even if I drop my mail off at 11:45PM the night before!  Well, I sent this package off Monday afternoon via Priority Mail.  Well, it did not get there Tuesday... It did not get there Wednesday... It got there Saturday!?!?!  Well, it was delivered on Saturday.  The worst part was that I told the recipient that I had sent him something, so... It was frustrating for both of us.  -At least he knew that his local branch is not the most dependable... However, he did call to complain about the package not arriving Friday afternoon, and, lo and behold, it shows up Saturday, hmm....

But, still 11 packages?!?!?!?  May they all turn up sooner or later.  Or maybe a package meant for someone else will accidentally get delivered to your address!  Could be fun!?!?!
