Well, you've read the notes, the notes had a good run-through, and now it is time for you to post until the run-through cows come home.

Last night I fired up the old VCR and watched a video of Patrice Munsel's early TV appearances, mainly from "The Voice of Firestone.".  The Fledermaus Laughing Song was televised as early as 1952 or 1953, since the announcer made reference to her just playing the role at the Metropolitan Opera.

While I loved her singing, which was glorious, I found the musical staging for everything a lot of kitsch and silliness. Her Jaspanese drag for "Un bel di" from Madama Butterfly was so silly I couldn't watch.  Following that, she and Richard Tucker, both in evening clothes, sang the Butterfly finale to Act One, and it was just glorious. I'd like this broadcast a lot more if it were on CD and could only listen to her.

Tonight, I'll watch a movie from the late 1990s, Judas Kiss, with Emma Thompson, Alan Rickman, abd Gil Bellows. Whatever happened to him? I don't recall seeing him in ages.

As for Gil Bellows he has worked a lot since then. Mixing TV and movies appearances. None of the movies well known, but the TV work had a lot of popular series.

Play; ROSALINDA.  I think Cyril Ritchard was in it.  It was presented at the Los Angeles Music Center.  (Actually, we left during intermission.)
Movie: GONE WITH THE WIND or DR. ZHIVAGO (Which is longer?)
Book: I'm currently reading a biography of John Wayne, which is pretty long (over 500 pages)

TOD 2:

In college, I remember going to a marathon screening of Bondarchuk's War and Peace, which is about 9 1/2 hours, if I remember correctly.

Watching the unedited Geaven's Gate during a snowstorm felt longer.

TOD3: Peer Gynt with Richard Thomas was about six hours long and staged in two parts. I did not see both on the same day.

One of these days, I'd like to do the Ring Cycle.

TOD:

I really don't know what's the longest play I've ever sat through, but I can say that "Hedda Gabler" certainly FELT like the longest play. I only saw it because it starred Annette Benning and I always really liked her.
The longest movie I ever saw was "Reds". It was so long it had an intermission. Nonetheless, I LOVED that movie and I saw it twice in the theater. It was my all time favorite movie for many years.

Remember a while back when we had to skip the dress rehearsal for Dayton Opera's Otello because of my cough?  Well, the same friend just offered her tickets for their Carmina Burana dress rehearsal on May 18 and we said YES!  It'll be fun because they're combining with the Dayton Philharmonic Chorus and I have 2 friends in that, too.

We've had entertainment in our backyard all day today.  Our neighbors are having a dead tree removed that's just over the fence, so the guys are having to work some from our yard.  This crew has done similar work for us, so we trust them.  But we don't understand them, because they speak Spanish.  Only the boss speaks English.

TOD3: Peer Gynt with Richard Thomas was about six hours long and staged in two parts. I did not see both on the same day.

One of these days, I'd like to do the Ring Cycle.

I watched the entire Ring Cycle that I had recorded on PBS a few years ago...not all in one (or even four) settings, but I got through them all and thoroughly enjoyed the productions. :)

Otherwise, I've seen several theater shows that are close to or around three hours long.  That's about the longest of any that I've seen live.  As for movies, I did watch the entire "Gone With the Wind (http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0031381/reference)."  That was pretty much all in one setting, but with appropriate breaks, though.

As for other movies, "Reds (http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0082979/reference)" (195 minutes) and "Titanic (http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0120338/reference)" (194 minutes) are probably the next longest movies that I've seen all the way through.  I bought the DVD to "1900 (http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0074084/reference)," but I don't remember which cut it is, and I haven't watch all of it...most of it, but not all.

Listening to Willie Nelson's Gershwin album. Very mellow and easy on the ear so far.

I'm holding out for The Statler Brothers' "Ring Cycle" by Wagner!

;)

In the meantime, there is "Das Barbecü (http://castalbums.org/recordings/Barbecu-Das-1994-Original-Off-Broadway-Cast/2519/)!"

;D

Cataloging them would be much too cumbersome for me.  I'm just too lazy. ;) But I don't mind duplicates.  And it's such a rare occurrence.  Most of the key chains that I have are so unique that I doubt that you even could duplicate something that I already have.

I loved 1900 when I first saw it. I saw it when I was 14 or 15, snuck into the theater and it was a hard R rating with plenty of sex, violence and bad dubbing. I tried watching it a few years ago, but it wasn't the same.

DR VIXMOM thanks so much for the 1776 package that arrived today!!!!  It is most excellent and will add so much to the lobby display!!!!

DR Jrand65, it sounds like vixmom has you covered with Encores! materials.

I am sending you programs for the 1997 Roundabout revival and a 2008 Goodspeed, and any other artifact I can find.  I seem to be down to one copy of each program, so please forgive if I make you good color copies for display purposes.

I should also be updating my resume now, but I find doing that to be borderline emotional trauma. So, I go back and forth between the movie and the work, the movie and posting here, the movie and playing with the bird, etc..
