Well, you've read the notes, the notes were written in a very nice hotel, and now it is time for you to post until the cows come home - they're currently staying in a very nice MOOtel.

bk and company - "ABC News Now: What's the Buzz" is part of ABC's 24-hour news service which is available "cable, broadband & mobile".  "What's the Buzz" runs at 1:00pm Weekdays, and I'm guessing it's available "on demand" after that.  For more info, CLICK HERE (http://abcnews.go.com/abcnewsnow/whats-the-buzz/story?id=6444026).

Well I will be winging my way to the west coast in less than 5hrs.

It will be the first time I will be flying a Virgin.
Airlines that is.

Looking forward to going to San Francisco for the first time.

The only media plan that I have is to go to the Castro Theater to see the restored version of Fritz Lang's Metropolis.

So  I will have this evening, Saturday, Sunday, Monday and Tuesday in SF.

Then I will flying back to the east cost, but I will be in another country for an additional week/

I am saying this incase my B & B in SF doesn't have WiFi and I will be E & T until I get to MTL

Hope everyone has a great weekend and everything goes well.

Great vibes to BK for the rest of his stay in NYC.

Good morning, all! I have 22 cartons sitting in my hall, waiting for Fed Ex to arrive. I scheduled the pickup on Wednesday, because I knew I would be out and about yesterday but when i came back last night, there was a Fed Ex "we tried to pick up" note waiting for me so I called Fed Ex, clarified matters and, hopefully, they will be picked up today. As soon as they're gone, I'm off to NYPL for some research.

I was wide awake at 5 am this morning, listening to the Oaf movng about. I think he's back; he's noisier than his father.

BK, I'll miss the reading but I will see you at Joe Allen's. Break a leg!

I find it somewhat amusing that readers of my reviews get so up in arms when my opinion doesn't jibe exactly with theirs.  Several people called me out for NOT loving the Crowe-Blanchett ROBIN HOOD, and some of those same people are now calling me out FOR loving GET HIM TO THE GREEK.  :)

bk - You're just staying in a different part of town, that's all.  If you were closer to Times Square, you'd have at least three Gap's to choose from.  -I'm actually trying to remember if any locations of the Gap have closed recently. I don't seem to recall walking past any shuttered storefronts.  I do know that some Banana Republic locations closed, but, in fact, they just moved to larger quarters a block or two away.  In any case...

Did you end up at the one on 34th caddy-corner to Macy's?

*And if you present your out-of-town driver's license to the Customer Service desk in Macy's, you get a coupon for 11%-off your total purchase.

If you don't have your tickets yet, and if you don't mind signing up on a new social-media driven ticket service, 1iota (http://www.1iota.com/ticketing.aspx) has FREE tickets for various dates throughout the preview period.  And from what I gather, all you really have to do is sign up and say that you'll spread the word out via Twitter, Facebook, etc.

It wasn't live after all - taped and will air next week - I'll know in advance.  Taping was okay - it's one of those things where the subject is in a room talking to someone in the studio so I was looking at a monitor and had an earpiece for the audio.  But I don't like looking at the monitor so I was probably a little ill at ease.   I made a big mistake and walked forty blocks back to the hotel.  A mistake because from the time I left till after the taping it got VERY hot.  I was sweating like a pig by the time I got back here.  I'm cooling off the room and waiting for housekeeping to come clean the room.

I took BoltBus--my first experience on a bus to NY --it wasn't bad--it took about 4 1/2 hours from DC.

Looking forward to the reading/signing and get-together afterwards!
About the same if you drove.  No wonder people take the train. ;)

I'm not sure the ABC thing is NY only - I think it goes everywhere.

Went downstairs and had a Diet Coke and figured out what sections I'll be reading.  Basically the same as I've done twice before, although this time if it starts to feel long I won't do the third section.

The way they've got it mapped out is that we do an hour for the reading and discussion - it takes me about thirty minutes to read all three sections, which leaves thirty minutes for the questions and discussion, so that seems good to me.

I may have to eat some sort of sweet for a little energy boost.  I guess I can pop open the chocolate Twizzlers and just have two.

Hypothetically only - if one is running a little late, is there a way of joining the audience without disturbing the reading, or will they make one wait until that section of the reading is over?
Title: Re: HOTEL

It better not be you who's late.  I'd assume that anyone can join the reading in process - I don't mind - unless it's YOU.

Hello, everyone.

Glad BK had a smooth trip.

VIBES FOR A GREAT READING, BRUCE!

(I don't need to send vibes for the gathering at Joe Allen, because we all know that'll be fun.)

Where did you see eight guests, Bruce? It reads two. Maybe BK has access to additional information about the site.

Will whoever--Jose, I think--recently posted the info for the ONLINE ABC show please repeat it, so we catch BK's interview that way.

In Cincinnati entertainment news, the South Pacific tour is here and getting rave reviews.  Also, Idina Menzel is performing with the Cincinnati Pops this weekend and our niece/goddaughter and I are bummed because we can't go together.  Lauren's in Missouri with the Miami football team for tomorrow's game and won't be back until too late on Sunday.

bk and company - "ABC News Now: What's the Buzz" is part of ABC's 24-hour news service which is available "cable, broadband & mobile".  "What's the Buzz" runs at 1:00pm Weekdays, and I'm guessing it's available "on demand" after that.  For more info, CLICK HERE (http://abcnews.go.com/abcnewsnow/whats-the-buzz/story?id=6444026).

Well, I didn't find BK, but I got to watch a great interview with Nathan Fillion.

Eddie Fisher....I guess for me that comes under the category of .... "I thought he was....."

I only saw Eddie Fisher live once.  In March of 1969 I was in the audience for a taping of the MERV GRIFFIN SHOW in New York.  This was the show with Arthur Treacher as his sidekick.  The first guest was this almost total unknown named Malcolm McDowell and he was promoting his film IF.

Then came Eddie Fisher.  He was so drunk that I kept expecting him to fall out of his chair.  He rambled on and on about nothing important, and then Merv asked him to sing.   He staggered over to the orchestra and I kept thinking that this was going to be a trainwreck.  All of a sudden the orchestra, or rather an orchestra, starts playing and old Eddie tries very unsuccessfully to lip sync to this great new song.  It was a total embarrassment. He couldn't remember the words, he wasn't even close to coming in on the right note.  It was awful.

But when I watched the show when it was broadcast, that director had done wonders.  The song looked to be the only good thing about his appearance.  They cut in and out with the cameras.  They faded out with one caemra and came up behind him with another.  It was amazing.  You would think that he never missed a word.

DR TCB "only once"!!  I don't think I have ever seen a major performer more than once, and felt darn lucky for the once. ;D

Sad about the drugs & alcohol.  I always thought ditching Debby was the cause of his decline though it didn't seem to hurt Liz.  I enjoy listening to him on the radio.

Didn't like the sweater, so it's all black for me today - nice black t-shirt and pants.  I guess gone are the days when there was a Gap on every block in NY.

The only Gap in mid-town Manhattan now days is the one between David Letterman's teeth.

I just received an exciting email.  The Dog Whisperer program donated $500 dollars to the Romanian Animal Rescue.  In honor of our daughter-in-law's birthday (9/22) those funds will be used next month to spay and neuter the dogs in her home town of Tecuci. :D

Thanks Laura.  They rescue group just trained one of the local vets to spay & neuter properly.  When Craig lived there he couldn't/wouldn't take his cat to be spayed.  The group has trained a number of vets in various towns throughout Romania.  They find the ones with the best abilities and the desire to learn.  I've heard many vets in some of the small towns don't/didn't use anesthesia.

Well, I'm now off to see Lord Franzannian's Royal Olympian Spectacular Vaudeville Show!  A local storyteller/actress created this local vaudeville (it's more burlesque, though ;)) and it'll be a lot of fun.  This is the fourth year and I've seen them all.

Until later!

I am the first one back from the HHW gathering this evening.

A wonderful time was had by all and I'm sure that the others are still playing at Joe Allen's.

The reading was funny and informative and quite good. There was a small, but appreciative turnout. There were some folks I don't know but Bruce did (Crista Moore being one of them).

After the reading we moseyed on over to Joe Allen's on 46th Street and 9th Avenue (from 40th Street and 8th Avenue). The group consisted of Deb (VixMom), Vixter, Anthony, Jose, Bruce, Julie, Fred (FJL), Larry, Kevin and Me. We all had wonderful meals and some even had dessert. Bruce got a wonderful ice cream thing for the table and we all tried it. Vixter and Jose and Kevin took pictures so something should be posted at some point.

Mr. Kimmel was exceedingly generous and took us all out for dinner, unbeknownst to us until the check came! Thank you Bruce for your amazing generosity. It is much appreciated.

All in all, it was a wonderful evening and now I must go to bed. I'm an old man and it's past my bedtime.

Before I go, congrats TCB on the medical report!

Back from Joe Allen.  What a lovelier than lovely time!  There were about twenty people at the signing with many people who said they were coming not showing up, and a few that I didn't know were coming showing up, like my pals Jessica Rush and Crista Moore.  I read the usual sections, talked for a bit and then signed books.  Then some of us went to Joe Allen for our meal.  I'll write more in the notes.

I'm back! I stayed behind to visit with Alx Rybeck.

What a fabulous group of folk this site has accumulated. I wish everyone could get to New York for a gathering so I could meet you all! I hadn't seen DR Jose, FJL or Julie for some time so it was great to see them, as well as our beautiful vixmom and her lovely daughter. It was great to see one of our newest members, Kevin H, again. I think our last visit was last December, and DR Ben and Anthony are two of my favorite people and i'm always happy to spend time with them.

Thank you, BK, for your generosity and for hosting this fantastic party every day.

Good Evening!

I, too, am back from Joe Allen. -And from the looks of things, I'm guessing that DR elmore got back home before I did, even though I left before him. -I waited for about 20 minutes at Columbus Circle for a train thanks to the weekend track work. Ugh!. In any case...
