I'm going straight home, and I will dose myself with my strongest cold med.

And then I'll "to sleep".

I take it Oakland condo living is not conducive to pulling up a cozy chair in front of the fire and sipping on some mulled wine.

Ooh ee ooh ah-ah
Ding Dang Walla-Walla Bing Bang!
Ooh-ee-ooh-AH-ah
Ding Dang Walla Walla Bing-Bang!

Actually, it's "ting tang":

I told the witch doctor I was in love with you
I told the witch doctor I was in love with you
And then the witch doctor, he told me what to do
He said that ....

(Chorus:)
Ooo eee, ooo ah ah ting tang
Walla walla, bing bang
Ooo eee, ooo ah ah ting tang
Walla walla, bing bang...
Ooo eee, ooo ah ah ting tang
Walla walla, bing bang
Ooo eee, ooo ah ah ting tang
Walla walla, bing bang

From David,  Barber of Seville.

I guess for people of my generation. "Witch Doctor" is always paired with "Purple People Eater"

-and both Ross Bagdasarian and Sheb Wooley enjoyed long careers as singers and actors.

and of course Parodies are almost topic of the day.

Sheb Wooley (as Ben Colder) wrote and performed some classics.

"Ballad of a Mean Old Queen" (Ballad of a Teenage Queen)  is one of my favourites.

"Harper Valley (Later that same day)" and "Son don't Go Near the Eskimos" were probably his most successful.

missing DR Rodzinski is a fan of the works of Homer & Jethro - known for their parodies of pop and country songs.

Hi DR ArnoldMBrockman.  I wish your alma matter, & Craig's, had a carrier center which actually helped graduates find jobs instead of dispensing hot air.

PEDANT!

I always heard "ding dang", so that's what it "is" in my head.

 ;D

But thanks for the correction, LarrySPiano!    ;)

You're welcome! I actually had a copy of the sheet music in the 1950s and my memory was that "ding dang" looked wrong to me.

I don't know if this would be considered a "parody" or a sequel, but there's the song, "Taylor, the Latte Boy" and the follow-up, "Taylor, a Response."

I've written seven pages, and will definitely write at least one to two more so I can finish the chapter I'm on.  I also did the long jog, and picked up quite a few lovely packages.

Trying to figure out what I might like to eat later.  I did a little research on my new favorite Subway foot-long sandwich, the spicy Eyetalian - not good news - the foot-long is close to 1000 calories and 50 grams of fat.  Once a week, maybe.  Can't do too many, though, that's clear.

Thanks, DR derBRUCER.....that stop motion still store you posted looks almost like a rear projection shot, with Granger standing in front of the screen showing the film of himself lying down.

I was only there about an hour.  I found out that with  -20 windchills, the U.S. Marshal's took my clients out of the jail, outside and to court in only t-shirts, light pants and open "jail" shoes.  No coat, no blanket, nothing.  The clients are both in the 60s. I was pretty disgusted about it.

I think I wrote eight pages today, which makes me happy.  No response to annoying e-mail - I gave them until Tuesday to respond.

I'm excited to report a new DVD of Bernstein's CANDIDE is being released in March. I believe it's conducted by my friend John deMain, who conducted the Castiglione production in 2003. I am not certain this recording is from 2003, however. I hope it's good; it can't be worse than the Chenowith-Lupone travesty. Or can it?
