DR Elmore, I am amazed that you have come around so strongly in wanting a kitten. Or maybe it's not as sudden as it seems. I can tell you, though, your day to day life will change quite a bit! :)
Thanks for your post last night, Jane!
The flight I got on yesterday was a "Mercy" flight. Air Canada flew down an empty to get people out. So I was lucky to have booked it.
Now the story behind the story.
I almost missed the plane. I misunderstood what the AC put on their app. It said it was delayed and I thought it was delayed from 3:45pm to 6:55pm.
I was wrong!! However they got me through. I was escorted through security and brought my luggage to the gate. I was the last one to get on. I don't know if they were actually holding the plane for me, but I got on and about 15 minutes the door closed. Luckily they were still waiting for the paper work.
It was panic time!! But I made it on.
I'm not sure what my plans are beyond a trip to the animal shelter on East 110th Street. I have fallen in love with a kitten online, and I may return with a pet, if he's still up for adoption.

How can you not fall in love with this cutie?
Friday morning greetings! Richard and I are going to a noon book discussion at Miami University's Hamilton Campus. The topic is Hillbilly Elegy, which I have discussed in several groups. Richard just finished reading it and I'm looking forward to his insights.

You are welcome. Please continue to let us know how your mother & father are doing.

I was shocked to learn this is now required reading in many schools.

Back in the day, we had The Pigman and before that The Outsiders.
Rush "Irma is fake" Limbaugh is apparently evacuating.

They actually made the Financial Times.
Can;'t figure out how to make the link work, though.

Interesting. I hope you can give directions to the link.
Tell your father my response :)
Tell your father my response :)
I certainly will.
Hope I get to talk to them again soon. They don't have their own cell phones any more, but were using someone else's.

What happened to their phones? Did they forget to take their chargers?

Elmore, I'm sorry your little tabby kitten was no longer available. I'm glad he got a home, though. Bless you for looking at shelter animals. I hope you find a great match.
DR Michael what time did you board the plane?
I miss Joshie so much. Sometimes I feel like I want another cat, but I promised my husband we wouldn't get another until our current one is gone.
DR Michael what time did you board the plane?
15 minutes to spare. They let me on.
Did they have to evacuate in Fort Lauderdale?
In my parent's area, they were just told to go to the shelters.
BK - Here's a wiki list of what they consider science fiction musicals.
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Category:Science_fiction_musicals
You may want to get "Brain from Planet X" on the wiki list. Maybe you know soemone who knows how to do that.
Oddly, "Starmites" isn't on the list, either??
The new Holiday Inn came in at the library. Don't know that I like it. The character of Laila has been turned into a dumb bimbo. And too many of the orchestrations sound as if they're cut from the same foxtrot pattern. Bing gave a quiet gravity to some of the songs and that's missing entirely. Corbin Bleu is the only performer to suggest individuality.
Still, Irving Berlin is always welcome.
Isn't there also a Halloween ballet in A Tree Grows in Brooklyn?
And of course Halloween in Applause.

So cute!! :D
Fred, lovely story about your parents. I had no idea your father had been through so much. I hope they are safe and comfortable and are spared losses.

Fred, in the Wikipedia listing for The Last Starfighter (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Last_Starfighter_(musical)), it says, "The Village Theater Festival of New Musicals cast was as follows:" and lists BK and Maureen Silliman in that cast, but the Village Theater Festival of New Musicals is the one in Issaquah, Washington. Is that something that you can fix?

The New York Musical Festival reading in 2006 (with this cast that includes BK and Maureen) was actually a presentation with the Village Theatre. So that may be why someone was confused. The cast list isn't really what's wrong, it's the name of the Festival, which someone must have changed over the years.
I'm worried that if we try to question the content, someone may take down the page for the show, though, or remove the list rather than replace it. That happened when I tried to put up my own bio on wiki.
Nice article DR FJL....vibes for your folks!
Sue and her fiance were driving home from Chicago in the rain back in the mid-1960's, her fiance lost control of the car......he was killed and she lost the sight in one eye.
A couple of years later, she met my cousin Will, and soon after they were married. They were also involved in a car accident.....in Will's Corvair....they both narrowly escaped death....
Back in the day, we had The Pigman and before that The Outsiders.
I vaguely remember having to read "The Pigman" when I was in high school. Now, of course, I don't remember a single thing about it. ::)

Depending where in Fort Lauderdale they live. There are "zones" and it depends where you live. It's a given if you live east of the Intercoastal it's a given. But generally, if you are east of the 1-95. You might also have to leave. But its the direction of how the storm will travel
And let's not forget about the people of Mexico.
I spent over an hour today wrestling with the medical maze, i.e., the UCLA medical bureaucracy. I think all is well; I think it was a false alarm. I changed my primary care physician this morning and was told that I may be charged for my visit with my new PCP last Tuesday, because he wasn't officially my PCP then. UCLA says he was, my insurance says no. None of this garbage has anything to do with actual medicine--it's all bureaucratic BS. Arrrggghh! Mercury retrograde may be officially over, but this sounds very Mercury retrogradish to me.

Jeanne - thanks so much!
I suspect there will be property damage at their apartment, but hopefully no damage to themselves.
..it is hard to do....and not to do....
I went with my oldest brother Mike this afternoon to a viewing for the wife of our cousin - she passed away on Monday..... Not a lot of folks, but a nice room full..... Sue was a nice lady who raised two good kids, and then stepped in and did a lot to raise several of her grandchildren as well....

The Vixter and her BFdecided to vacate their apartment and go to a friend's home . There will be six of them there and they will be able to pool resources should the need arise

I read the Pigman in junior high. It was about two teenagers , a boy and girl, who befriend an elderly man name Mr Pignati who has a house full of pis (not real ones)
Went through more boxes - tossed a lot of VHS and Beta crap, found my old Beta machine (worth anything?) and unfortunately found a ton of my old newspaper movie sections - unfortunate because I then spent three hours looking through them again. Now I must get ready for the opening night.

Has anyone here had Snickers Caramel Apple Salad? It sounds wonderful. And horrible. At the same time.

We're almost done with tonight's performance of Silent Sky. It was almost a full house! There were probably only five seats available! And they're really loving it! :D
DR Danise has been working hard preparing her house for the storm.

Well, this is pretty cool...here's an actual review of the show for which I'm running sound: Opening up the Heavens: Silent Sky at Olympia Little Theatre (https://www.northwestmilitary.com/music-and-culture/stage-and-visual-reviews/2017/09/opening-up-the-heavens/).
