How about a Key Lime Cocktail, as mentioned at Ruhlman.com recently:

Quote
Fill a shaker 3/4s full of ice, add an egg white (30 grams is ideal, says Tatiana), 3/4s of an ounce of key lime juice, 3/4s ounce of simple syrup (Paulius makes his with a 2:1 sugar-water ratio) and 1.5 ounces of Mount Gay rum.  Shake it well and thoroughly, for two to five minutes, and pour into a chilled glass.

FJL is being mysteriously quiet.  Do you think he's on the phone with them now, ordering a rush delivery for tonight?   ???

Skip's making a luscious Maida's Big Apple Pie.  No chocolates tonight!

(Actually, I haven't been on HHW for a while.  Have I been shown as logged in all along?)

Der Brucer's birthday dinner has run into a glitch.

I have searched through the freezer downstairs, and cannot find the leg of lamb.

Oh, bother.

I just got back from Obama. Much more formal, much more security and many more brownies and cookies - but only about 35-40 people at the small get together. (I skipped the rally, too many people)  I like what he says too.  Oy! Glad I don't have to decide right now.

Why thank you. I make the news every now and then and try to post links.  There wasn't any press at the small gathering today. I'm assuming they were all waiting for him at the rally

I saw my very first episode EVER of "The Closer" just the other day on TNT On Demand. I liked it so much that I watched 2 more episodes immediately thereafter! How have I missed this show?!?!

I said the exact same thing two years ago after taking DR Jane's recommendation to check the show out in reruns of its first season and absolutely fell in love with it.

The air is so hot and still, and I see darkness in the western sky. I suspect a thundershower later on.

Well, I got all four of the DVD items I was expecting in the mail today including the three Criterion sets (one is a two disc set Cría Cuervos.) I know what I'll be busy doing this week.

HOT FUZZ and SHAUN OF THE DEAD haven't even shipped yet!

I finished watching a BONES episode I had started yesterday. This is the one where a woman's body was found in an air shaft under Washington, D.C. The story winds its way into becoming something like the movie NATIONAL TREASURE.

Yes Laura - I was just watching that story when I flipped on CNN.  They said they initially thought a quake caused the cave-in, but now think the cave-in caused the tremors.  Hope they can get to the trapped people quickly.

Next, I put in THE TICK VS SEASON 2, disc one. It's a cartoon show from the Fox Kid's Channel. A superhero story with definite echoes of the live action BATMAN series of the 1960s with broad humor, outlandish villains, and heroes in strange outfits. It's really kind of fun in an undemending sort of way.
