Oh, speaking of B&TB, one of the guys at the wrap party played the candleabra on Broadway. Lumiere, I think was his character's name? Anyway, the actor is David de Vries and he's from here. When I'd work in NY I used to get a kick out of passing the theatre every day and seeing his picture in the window dressed as a big candleabra. I was really surprised that he moved back to Atlanta after being on Broadway. He plays Nicola Tesla, one of the main characters in the film. Very nice guy and a cutie.

YES, but does he have hair on his chest?!?

(Humm... it's candelabra! Sorry, that the derBrucer in me!! ;))

So, we've got my new toy up and working - an ION USB turntable - got it via Skymall - very inexpensive and in the nick o' time since my turntable is completely shot.  This thing plugs directly into your computer.  Vinnie came over and set up the software, figured out how to use it, we did a little cheat sheet for me, and I did my first LP this evening, perfectly, I might add.  It's a really nice turntable, too, and the CD I made sounds grand.  The software allows you to have dead silence between the LP tracks so you don't get that awful noise, and you record one side of an LP on one long track, click pause, then record the other side, still on one long track.  Then you smooth out and silence the between tracks, then you put in your track IDs (very simple), then you export all the separate tracks as wav files to your desktop (literally one click), and then you drag those into an iTunes playlist and you're done.  I LOVE it.

Twenty years together, he's still got stories!

Well, since my earliest memory is from the orphanage (so it had to be before I was 18 mos old) I have 46+ years of "tales to tell" of times before we met!

I've been trying to figure out how to transfer some of my albums, since they will never be released on CD. (Old calypso stuff, etc.)
I have a fine turntable but this sounds much easier. How much was it?

Actually, a lot of guys not only shave there chest hair, but their leg, armpits, and arms! I do not understand this strange behavior.

You left out a criticial word phrase: "et cetera" - as in..." legs, armpits, and arms, et cetera... "

And trust me, they don't all shave themselves!

der Brucer

I wonder - do they make wax strips for nostril hairs?

Yes, you're mean...and you make me laugh!

I've always been attracted to men who are losing it...in the hair department anyway (must have been my early fondness for the Smothers Brothers/Peter Paul and Mary) so that wouldn't stop me.

So there, Frenchy!

People who treat their pets this way should not be allowed to breed, IMHO.

I often wonder what kind of parents they are. It really sickens me when I see animals thrown away like this. Granted there are situations where a person has to give up a pet due to financial or life issues but there are avenues to address the matter than throwing the animal away.

Well, we'll have our community leaders set an example:

School Principal Resigns After Shooting Orphaned Kittens
Quote

Saturday , October 14, 2006

INDUS, Minnesota — A school principal has resigned and could face felony firearm charges after he shot and killed two orphaned kittens on school property last month.

Wade Pilloud, who resigned as principal of the Indus school, 40 miles west of International Falls, said he shot the kittens to spare them from starving to death after their mother was killed in an animal trap.

Pilloud said the shooting, which occurred on school grounds, endangered no one.
...
The incident happened Sept. 21, and several students still on the grounds for after-school activities heard the shots. The school has students from kindergarten to 12th grade — about ages 5 through 18.

"There were parents who felt, apparently some rather strongly, that there were concerns about the safety of their children," said Joseph Flynn, an attorney for the South Koochiching/Rainy River School District. "The district's position is that safety was not compromised."

John Mastin, acting sheriff in Koochiching County, said Pilloud could be charged with felony possession of a firearm on school property and reckless discharge of a firearm, a misdemeanor.

Saw a play at the local university earlier this evening and it was an excellent production of "The Childrens Hour" by Lillian Hellman. Very well done and I greatly enjoyed it
