Well, you've read the notes, you're feeling bunny-like and in the Easter spirit, and now it is time for you to post until the Easter cows come home.
-
And the word of the day is: DELITESCENT!
-
Will we never get to page two?
-
Not with all these WUSSBURGERS we won't.
-
And for those who missed it yesterday, here it is again. If you want some titles but have to wait until payday, no problem - just let me know what you want and I'll hold it for you.
And here, in all its glory, is Ye Newe List - we have very low quantities of several titles, so order quickly:
Lost In Boston II (essential - elmore orchestrations)
Lost In Boston III (essential - orchstrations by Steve Orich, who did Jersey Boys)
Lost In Boston IV (essential)
Chicago And All That Jazz - The Brad Ellis Little Big Band (a great cover version)
Lerner, Loewe and Lane (STAGE benefit recording - 2CD set) low quantity
Unsung Sondheim (elmore orchestrations, and my very first VS album) low quantity
Prime Time Musicals (songs from musicals written for TV, and one of my all-time faves of all that I've done) low quantity
Sondheim At The Movies low quantity
Bells Are Ringing (revival cast album with Faith Prince) low quantity
Ethel Merman's Broadway (cast album starring Rita McKenzie)
Stephen Schwartz - Uncharted Territory (solo album with the bonus track)
Michelle Nicastro Toonful (a classic - if you have kids get all these Nicastro albums - they're all faboo)
Michelle Nicastro Toonful Too
Michelle Nicastro Reel Imagination
Michelle Nicastro On My Own (long out of print - B'way songs)
Jason Graae: Live At The Cinegrill
Jason Graae: You're Never Fully Dressed Without A Smile (songs of Charles Strouse - worth it for the cover alone)
If Love Were All (cast album with Twiggy and Harry Groener as Noel and Gertie)
I Do! I Do! (revival cast album with Karen Ziemba and David Garrison)
Unsung Musicals (the original - a wonderful CD)
Unsung Musicals II (essential)
Helen Reddy: Center Stage (B'way songs, Miss Reddy at her best)
Petula Clark: Here For You (a wonderful album)
Liz Callaway: Anywhere I Wander (the Frank Loesser album, done concurrently with Unsung Sondheim, with elmore charts - one of the great solo debut albums)
Unsung Irving Berlin (2 CD set of Berlin rarities - I was the first person to get to rummage in the bowels of Mr. Berlin's trunk and the result was an amazing album - in fact, three of my discoveries were interpolated into Face The Music) low quantity
Cole Porter (STAGE benefit - 2 CD set) very low quantity
Mary Cleere Haran: This Funny World (Rodgers and Hart - the album no one knows I produced - with Richard Rodney Bennett - it's pretty sublime)
The Paul Simon Album (my most controversial album - hated by many, liked by some - no one's in the middle - but I'm fond of several tracks, especially Jane Krakowski's Fifty Ways To Leave Your Lover - and a great hidden track)
After The Fair (cast album - with the divoon Michele Pawk)
Cabaret - The Brad Ellis Big Band (as good as the Chicago album)
Little By Little (cast album with Christiane Noll, Darrin Baker, and Liz Larsen - delightful Brad Ross musical)
John and Jen (cast album of Andrew Lippa musical, starring Carolee Carmello)
Judy Kuhn: Just In Time (Jule Styne songs performed beautifully)
Judy Kaye: Songs From The Silver Screen (the followup to Diva by Diva, and filled with great movie musical songs)
Linda Purl: Alone Together (another completely unknown album - and it's fantastic, if you like standards and great, sexy singing)
As Thousands Cheer (cast album of the Irving Berlin show)
Rupert Holmes: Widescreen and more (brilliant) VERY low quantity
Cinderella - the followup to the Peter Pan album and every bit as delightful - low quantity
Hey, Love (the Mary Rodgers revue starring Faith Prince - absolutely wonderful)
Randy Graff: Doin Something Right (Cy Coleman songs sung by the great Graff)
Sondheim: A Celebration (2 CD set of the STAGE benefit)
The Trotter Trio: A Funny Thing Happened On The Way To The Forum (another great Trotter cover version)
The Grass Harp (cast recording of the faboo Claibe Richardson musical)
Paige O'Hara: Loving You (Jerry Herman songs - a lovely recording)
The Stephen Sondheim Album - a GREAT album with one of my best casts, including Brent Barrett, Dorothy Loudon, Lea de Laria, Norm Lewis, Alice Ripley, Emily Skinner, Michele Pawk, etc. VERY limited quantity - only about four of these.
Christiane Noll: A Broadway Love Story - for my money, in my top five. Everything about it pleases me. VERY limited quantities.
That's it. Single CDs are $10 each, 2 CD sets are $12. As before, please e-mail me at haineshisway@aol.com to confirm your order.
For every ten ordered at one time, you receive one free CD of MY CHOICE (most people last time did their own choosing - but because of low quantities, that just doesn't work). If you order twenty CDs, you also get free priority shipping. Otherwise shipping is between 3.50 and 5.00 depending on quantity ordered.
Don't dally on some of these titles.
-
There are more of these CDs that I don't have than of the last bunch. Erg. I'll have to think about this...and balance my checkbook to see how much money I have to spare. :)
-
DR CILLA LIZ sets the date!!! Perhaps some enterprising person at HHW can put her on YOUTUBE, then we can all see it and not so many copies will have to be made!
And if you go to keepvid.com (http://keepvid.com) (without www), you can actually save the .flv file to your computer!
-
And for those who missed it yesterday, here it is again.
Thanks for posting that...I haven't caught up with yesterday's posts!
We went to Amoeba tonight and saw a few of these discs there, and they were $15, so this is a DEAL!
-

Totally! My problem is that I won't be able to get all of the CDs that I'd like to get, so I'll have to choose carefully. :-\
-
Over a very short period of time last night, I seemed to have become afflicted with lower gastrointestinal distress...and of a highly viscous nature. :P (I know, I know...TMI!!) I seem to be doing better now and am hoping that I'll be fine by this evening, since my parents are having everyone over for dinner. Right now, I can't even think about eating because of what might happen. :-X
::)
-
Just had to share. ;)
-
It is way too early for me to be up for the day.
-
It's getting just a little late for me to stay up. ;) I'm going to bed. Good night, DearReaderLaura. 8)

Whew---that was one amazing day. We went to a brunch given by our fellow Randy Newman fans, after which Greg, friend Susan and I went to Van Dyke Parks' home, where he played us some new music, including a wonderful piece which featured Grant Geissman. We had bloody marys and talked about our future projects, and they gave us all t-shirts from their son Richard's "Old Koton Industries" line. It was splendid, and they made us feel like very special guests.
Then we met bk and Adrianna (who is much shorter than her avatar!) at Ghengis Cohen. None of us thought we were hungry after the brunch, but once the food started appearing, our appetities reappeared and we polished off all the dishes. It was some of the best Chinese food I've ever had, and it was so nice of bk to treat us all to dinner.
Not only that, but he had a job offer for me! But unfortunately, it would involve working in LA and I wouldn't be able to leave THE CLOSER. But it was nice that he thought enough of my work to recommend me; it sounded like a very interesting project.
A funny thing happened at the brunch---it turned out that one of the guests is a huge fan of Bruce's CD's. I plan to send him the list so he can order some more. He was genuinely disappointed that bk had been at our Sacco and Vanzetti screening and didn't meet him. Next time...
After eating ourselves into a stupor, we dashed to Amoeba for a fast round of shopping (I got a lot of good dovumentaries) and then we headed to Culver City to a club called "Irish Times", to see Bruno Coon's band. (Bruno is Randy Newman's music editor.) The club was full of women who enjoyed dancing to the band. Greg remarked that only in California would you see Japanese women dancing to reggae music in an Irish pub!
Then we drove Susan home to Manhattan Beach and are now ensconced back at our hotel.
Now I'm ready to sleep. What a day!
-
What an exciting day, DR Edisaurus!
-
Busy day today! Happy Easter to all who celebrate it!
-
Today is a holiday for some.
-
I sent my email about CD's - I can afford three....bought five from the first list....so whew! Eight CD's!
I shall have MUSIC!!!
-
Thanks for the sharing the details of the day, DR EDISAURUS....how exciting it was!!
And of course MR BK also shared dining details. Now I am hungry!!
TAR tonight in HD!!!!
-
Feel-better vibes to DR George!
-
Last paragraph vibes to MR BK....you will KNOW when it's exactly right!
I heard DR JOSESPIANO was in the dressing room with a Tony-winning songwriter last night.
-
These things will pass, DR GEORGE.
-
New musical about a determined plastic surgeon:
The Last Scarfighter
-
What is Jeffrey DeMunn's middle name? That is something that you cannot find on the internet!
-
Hmmmm free for all day:
Has anyone from HHW ever appeared on a television game show? What was it like? Did you win any prizes?
I guess DRMBARNUM did not receive his surprise in the mail yesterday, maybe on Monday. I hope the TV star taped in that box survives the trip. But he did get a new LAPTOP (computer).
And yes, Mr Herman Cohen's favorite cast member from BERSERK! would be Ty Hardin. Very interesting that DR TCB knew Mr Gene Fowler.
-
Easter morning greetings! DH Richard is off to Cincinnati for church and, on his way home, will pick up my mother, his mother, and my aunt. They, along with DS Rob and his girlfriend, will be here for our dinner of green eggs and ham later this afternoon. Lots to do, but I'll check in here from time to time during my party prep.
-
Have fun, DR GINNY!! Even with all they are doing, I am sure your dinner will be the highlight of their day!
-
Loved the doggie pics yesterday from DR derBRUCER of the Canine Coven at the BRUCER-SWW place.
AND the photos from DRLAURA of the Princesses from Next Door.
-
Sunday....
-
John Hoyt was also the old guy in a series of Midas Muffler commercials who drove a Model T into the shop now and then to get his lifetime replacement muffler.
"See ya again, boys!"
-
Off to check out some HD programming!!
-
Page Two Easter Rabbit Dance.
I got this here, but thought I would share again. ;D
-
Good morning, all! And Happy Easter to those of us (well, I don't but I am a WASP) who celebrate it. Jo is cooking a huge dinner for this afternoon. It will be good to see family and her cooking is fantastic. She even invited the Macbeths since she knew I was as eager to visit them as I was to have my IRS return audited. So, the Macbeths are coming. I will say more about their last thwarted scheme later in the week.
DR JRand56, I have never been on a game show, but around 1999 I was a Lifeline on "Who Wants to Be a Millionaire?" Does that help?
TOD: I forgot. Spoo!
-
Nothing in the mail fron Indiana yesterday JRand56 :-\
In fact I got no mail at all!
-
I have never been on a game show.
-
Will we never get to page two?
Of course we will.
-
TAR tonight in HD!!!!
Ah, well, . . . . about that. You certainly can watch it on your local CBS affiliate's HD channel, but CBS does not produce the show in HD, merely standard def (just like SURVIVOR).
The HD cameras are very expensive and carting them through all the outdoor locations needed to film this and SUVIVOR would be a risky, potentially expensive proposition, so that's why these shows are not done in HD.
-
Good morning and Happy Easter to everyone!
Another beautiful day here. A tad warmer than yesterday but highs still not getting out of the low 60s. I have many things to do inside today, so I may not get to enjoy the outside air much.
-
I have never been on a game show, but my uncle was on ART LINKLETTER'S HOUSE PARTY years ago when we visited LA. The question of the day was "What is it about your neighbors that you don't like?" and my uncle's submission to the producers ("my neighbor is a millionaire and I'm jealous") was selected. So, Art came into the audience and the folks selected were asked to explain what they meant by their submissions. My uncle actually got some laughs with his explanation.
He got an electric frying pan for being on the show.
-
DR Edisaurus - thank you for sharing the excitement of your day yesterday!
-
Has anyone from HHW ever appeared on a television game show? What was it like?
One time while I was working in LA, auditions were held for NAME THAT TUNE. The people on our editing crew insisted I needed to try out, so the director I was working with drove me there and sat in the back during the proceedings, to observe.
They gave you a test, and I scored the highest. I was sitting in the back with my director, who wanted to keep a low profile, and they decided that this was because I was SHY. Like it was a disability. "You're not SHY, are you?" From that point on, I was, and I realizes that I didn't have what it takes to be a good game show contestant...I was not BUBBLY enough! :'(
-
DS Rob and his girlfriend, will be here for our dinner of green eggs and ham later this afternoon.
Do not talk about green eggs and ham in front of George. Who knows what will happen?
-
I will be watching a couple of MEDIUM episodes first this afternoon. I found out that the actor who played Delia's husband on GHOST WHISPERER also guested on MEDIUM last season, and I put the disc in the player to watch last night. Well, I had replaced the discs in the wrong order in the case, so I had the wrong disc, but since it was already in, I started rewatching an episode. When it finishes, I'll put in the right disc to rewatch the episode I originally wanted to see.
Then, I'll probably watch LAYER CAKE this afternoon and BULLITT this evening before prime time starts. Since my shows don't begin until 9 p.m. I have a lot of time to squeeze in some DVDs.
-
I didn't mention, in that long paragraph all about ME and MY DAY, that bk finished his book!
So there was one more thing to celebrate!
And I did not mention how adorable and funny Miss Adrianna Patti is, nor how bk kept us in stitches!
-
As for tonight's TV line-up, I guess the biggest news is the return of HBO's THE SOPRANOS for its last nine episodes. This will be followed by a new episode of ENTOURAGE, both of which I'll be recording.
THE TUDORS continues its run on SHowtime tonight.
CBS' slate is all-new tonight including COLD CASE and WITHOUT A TRACE.
DESPERATE HOUSEWIVES and BROTHERS & SISTERS both have new episodes.
RENO 911! has a new episode at 10:30, DR George!
-
Page Two Easter Rabbit Dance.
You can never see it enough...
-
Do not talk about green eggs and ham in front of George. Who knows what will happen?
LOL!
It didn't appeal to DR Elmore, either, when I told him about it Friday evening.
-
We usually celebrate Easter with my mom, who cooks a big dinner and really goes over the top with the eggs and the bunnies. Since we won't be there today and she won't be cooking, we plan to take her out for dinner next weekend.
I will be eating eggs, though. We will be having breakfast in Larchmont Village with my former editing assistant. She only assisted for one film before she realized that she wasn't cut out for it. She was far too creative to do assistants' work, which calls for micromanaging every little scrap of film. She was a great people person, and wanted to be in the production end instead so she moved to NC to work on another film, and met her future husband there.
She is very dear to us and I have only seen her once since their wedding, so we're looking forward to that. Her hubby may be coming down with a cold and is popping Airborne so I hope he can make it. (He's a writer...he wrote the HELLRAISER films and various fiction books and short stories.)
BTW, thanks to all the DR's who recommended Airborne. Greg was getting sick on the flight here and only had bad cold symptoms for a few days. I think he whupped it with the help of that!
-
It didn't appeal to DR Elmore, either, when I told him about it Friday evening.
I would like to know the process involved to create Green Eggs and Ham. (Apart from the obvious: leaving them in MY refrigerator.)
-
Wonder if I can squeeze in EASTER PARADE today or at least some numbers from it if not the entire film. (It's coming on TCM, but I think my upconverting DVD player may show the Ultra-resolution transfer to better advantage.)
We'll see.
-
What ever happened to the group Kajagoogoo, which did the song "Too Shy"
-
Good Morning!
Happy Easter, Everyone!
-
Well, since today is my last day with All About Us, I had to get my hotel room all packed up this morning. Which really only took about five minutes, so I had plenty of time to enjoy a leisurely breakfast. I wanted one more cook-it-yourself Belgian waffle. ;)
-
And now I'm at the theatre for sound check - just the keyboards and percussion right now. And sometime in the next few hours, I'll wake my way over to the rehearsal hall where they've set up a nice Easter Buffet Brunch for everyone. -Complete with Peeps for the taking! :)
-
I'm heading down now to get started an laundry and then begin preparing lunch.
WBBL.
-
...And I think I sort of said this last night, but I am a bit sad that I'm "leaving" today. It really has been an amazing experience.
-And I did bring my camera, and I do plan to take a few pics throughout the day. -And I will, hopefully, post a few of those pics once I return to NYC.

More than you ever wanted to know!

We have really enjoyed hearing about the whole process and your encounters with Kander and Kitt. Maybe you'll be called back to "active duty" sometime in the future.
What is next for DR Jose?
-
OH!
And I called my parents today - well, I called my Dad since my Mom is working at the nursing home today - and after just re-listing their house a week and a half ago, they have an offer! Well, they had an offer, then my parents made a counter-offier, and then another offer was made, and that one was accepted. In any case...
If things go well, they will close sometime during the third week of May. They have most of their stuff moved down to their new house in Richmond already, and they'll just continue to gradually bring things down over the next couple of weeks. Thankfully, my Dad has a van/SUV type vehicle - very roomy.
-
We have really enjoyed hearing about the whole process and your encounters with Kander and Kitt. Maybe you'll be called back to "active duty" sometime in the future.
What is next for DR Jose?
Aw, Thanks. And it really has been great fun being a part of it all.
As for what's coming next, well, I had mentioned that I'm being considered for a few projects. I am a little superstitious, but not that superstitious, so I shall leave with you three "clues" to the three projects that I'm up for:
1) "Little Lamb"
2) "...Again.."
3) "Under the sea"
:) :) :) :) :) :)
-
But my immediate future consists of playing more auditions for Gypsy and "Grease Academy: Part Deux".
-
PAGE THREE DANCE!!!!
Why, the BUNNY HOP of course!
-
OK... Time to work on a few measure of music.
Laters...
-
I would like to know the process involved to create Green Eggs and Ham. (Apart from the obvious: leaving them in MY refrigerator.)
LOL!
Well, that's one way you could do it, DR Edi, but my method involves a fresh Honey Baked Ham and lemon/lime Jello eggs, made using molds (http://jellostore.archway.com/cgi-bin/cornerstore.storefront/46191c710191569e2717d8f593a206de/Product/View/093211).
The tricky part is pouring the boiling hot Jello into the little holes. It was especially challenging for me night before last, after drinking Margaritas with DR Elmore at dinner!
-
The sun rose early.
I did not.
-
Hmmmm free for all day:
Has anyone from HHW ever appeared on a television game show? What was it like? Did you win any prizes?
And yes, Mr Herman Cohen's favorite cast member from BERSERK! would be Ty Hardin. Very interesting that DR TCB knew Mr Gene Fowler.
Actually, one of my best friends in the whole world (since 7th grade) went to the American Academy with Gene's daughter, Kim; and he and Kim were together for several years. Sadly, Kim, who was a fine actress and a knockout, passed away several years ago.
However, one of my best friends in the whole world (since 7th grade) just sent me an e-mail this very morning. He now resides in New Hope (outside of Atlanta), an area known to all of us, now, as Amy Country.
-
Happy Egg Day, Everyone!! ..and Happy Erg Day to der Brucer!!
-
How did the Easter Bunny lose weight?
..with egg-ercise....
(these are some Erg Day jokes for der Brucer...you hear 'em, and go Erg!)
-

What a coinky-dink! I make my green ham with molds, too! But I think it's a different kind...the furry kind. :D
-
What happened when the Easter Bunny married the spider?
They had a bunch of little harenets...
-
...And I think I sort of said this last night, but I am a bit sad that I'm "leaving" today. It really has been an amazing experience.
-And I did bring my camera, and I do plan to take a few pics throughout the day. -And I will, hopefully, post a few of those pics once I return to NYC.
Jose, please give my dear friend, Eartha, a hug for me! She is fantastic!
[/i]
-
Why was the Easter Bunny so upset this morning?
She was having a bad hare day!
-
What did the soggy Easter Bunny use after getting caught in the rain?
A hare dryer....
-
DR Laura-Of course I did want to see the photos of cute little girls decorating eggs. :)
-
Good Afternoon!
...Or I could go over to the rehearsal hall and have Easter Brunch: grilled veggies, steamed veggies, mashed potatoes, mashed sweet potatoes, scalloped potatoes, green bean casserole, ham, turkey, bread and butter, petit fours, profiteroles, etc., etc.
-And they even had a bunch of Easter goodies for everyone too.
:)
-
What did the soggy Easter Bunny use after getting caught in the rain?
A hare dryer....
Get the hook!
-Or at least one of those wire-thingies you get in those Paas egg-dye kits.
:-*
-
Needless to say, Easter brunch was EGGsellent!
-
Jose, please give my dear friend, Eartha, a hug for me! She is fantastic!
[/i]
I'm sure I'll be giving her a hug or two as the day progresses.
-
What do you call a blonde Easter Bunny?
A Hare Brain...
-
And the word of the day is: DELITESCENT!
Alfred thought that he'd written the perfect mystery, with all the clues perfectly DELITESCENT, but then the SCENE TILTED and what was hidden proved to be obvious to all.
-
-Or at least one of those wire-thingies you get in those Paas egg-dye kits.
:-*
;D
Do kids still decorate eggs?
-

DR Ginny - Two words: Turkey Baster
-
;D
Do kids still decorate eggs?
Well, someone is still buying those kits at Walgreen's.
-
-And I decorated eggs last Easter with DRs TPunk and Rodzinski! :)
-
...very low quantity...
Silly me. When I first read this yesterday, I thought you had written quality instead of quantity. What a difference an "n" makes.
-
Why, the BUNNY HOP of course!
Erg joke question to DR Jose's joke answer (see above): What is the Easter Bunny's favorite dance?
-
OK... I just have eight measures to chart out, so...
Laters...
-
Edi-I enjoyed reading about your very interesting day.
George-I hope you are feeling better before your family gathering.
-
...After eating ourselves into a stupor, we dashed to Amoeba for a fast round of shopping (I got a lot of good dovumentaries)...
Dovumentaries - films about pigeons and other birds who bop their heads backwards and forwards when they walk. Viewers have been known to complain about whiplash later on.
-
HAPPY EASTER!!! [/b] [/size]
-
-And I decorated eggs last Easter with DRs TPunk and Rodzinski! :)
I used to love decorating them.
Did the eggs created at TPunk and Rodzinski's have feathers, eyes and puff-balls?
-
Today is a holiday for some.
Others of us will be working.
-
Dovumentaries - films about pigeons and other birds who bop their heads backwards and forwards when they walk. Viewers have been known to complain about whiplash later on.
No, films about pacifists!
-
Needless to say, Easter brunch was EGGsellent!
Did anyone tell any good yokes at your table?
-
;D
Do kids still decorate eggs?
Does anykid still wear a hat?
-
Well, since today is my last day with All About Us, I had to get my hotel room all packed up this morning. Which really only took about five minutes, so I had plenty of time to enjoy a leisurely breakfast. I wanted one more cook-it-yourself Belgian waffle. ;)
Just one?

Happy Easter to all who celebrate!

DR Ginny - Two words: Turkey Baster
Thank goodness, Jose, that you included the Quote with this response.
-

Hmm, perhaps I should have included it, as well.

You went to CULVER CITY???!!! :) LA friends have told me that it's a real up-and-coming place, but I grew up there and still think of it as movie studios and not a whole lot else. Yes, I'm a bit out of date.
-
Does anone really enjoy the taste of Peeps?
Does anyone actually eat all those Peeps?
-
Seriously, DR EDISAURUS, I'm glad you had such a nice day and trip! No repeats of your NY adventure!
-
I was never on a game show, but I did attend the taping of two episodes of CONCENTRATION when I was a youngen.
They are holding auditions this week in Philly for THE REAL WORLD and BIG BROTHER. I would never make it onto the former and never last beyond a week on the latter.
-
Does anone really enjoy the taste of Peeps?
Does anyone actually eat all those Peeps?
I loved 'em. Especially after they had been sitting out all week and grown stale.
-
Thanks for the pic of John Hoyt, DR MATTH. I'm afraid he's not my type, so I'll leave him to you. No fighting between H/Ks! I'll have to watch BRUTE FORCE for it's own sake. sigh.
-
I was never on a game show, but I did attend the taping of two episodes of CONCENTRATION when I was a youngen.
...
DR Dan(the Man), my mother and I also attended a taping of CONCENTRATION, on my first trip to NYC in June, 1967.
-
Does anone really enjoy the taste of Peeps?
Does anyone actually eat all those Peeps?
There are enough Peeps eaten each Easter, to more than circle the earth.
-
Alrighty...we're off for the day. The next time I post it will be from Atlanta. We get there 'round midnight and still have to take the subway and oick up our car, so I won't be posting until tomorrow.
Hapy a lovely Easter, everybody!
-
One of the bosses has had peep-like candy in his office for the taking for weeks. I hope it doesn't stop once Easter is over.
-
Easy travel vibes to Amy
-
TOD:
I've never been on a game show.
-
;D
Do kids still decorate eggs?
Oh, yes! We've been selling a lot of those decorating kits over the past week.
And I'm not even going to attempt guessing how many dozens of eggs I've scanned at my register lately! Lots more than usual, fer sure.
-
No, films about pacifists!
;D
:-*
-
Does anone really enjoy the taste of Peeps?
Does anyone actually eat all those Peeps?
No, they put them in the microwave and watch them expand and melt!
-
I have never been on a game show, but I attended a taping of SNAP JUDGEMENT, which in the form I saw the show, was exactly the same game as PASSWORD. Being in college radio back in those days, after the taping, I got to do interviews with Johnny Olson, Nipsy Russell, and Ed McMahon.
Looking online at the dates SNAP JUDGEMENT aired, I don't think the taping I attended ever went on the air. I attended the taping on March 18 or 19, 1969, and the show stopped airing March 28, 1969. Hmm, maybe I was responsible for the show being cancelled. I hope so.

John Hoyt story: I, of course, had seen Attack Of The Puppet People at my beloved Wiltern Theater when I was ten (I think it came out in 1958), and I loved it and I became a fan of Mr. Hoyt. Much later, when I was doing Jimmy Shine as an alum at LACC in 1970, Shelley Morrison came to see me in the show (she's an alum), and loved me, and she actually did something about it - she got me her agent, the wonderful Alex Brewis, and my whole life changed in an instant.
The day I walked in to sign my contracts, who was in Mr. Brewis' office but his client John Hoyt. I was so dumbstruck I couldn't even talk, save to say I was a big fan.

Just before putting the computer to sleep last night, I think I got the last line of the book right, so we'll see how I feel in a little while when I open the book.

Check out this headline from AOL:
Three Gophers Arrested in Sexual Assault Case

Luckily, it was a sports headline.

It's funny, when we read of these lovely and large New York hainsies/kimlets gatherings, and then we read of the rather ill-attended West Coast gatherings, you realize just how few hainsies/kimlets there are out here. Basically, it's me, it's Cason, and it's Miss Patti. Miss PennyO is always off somewhere or becoming a Dr. of something, and that's about it. I do think we have a LOT of West Coast lurkers, but that's not the same. Of course, Pogue moved to Lubbock or wherever the HELL he lives now, and others have come and gone. We'll have to see what we can do about that.
-
Oh, and I'm up.
-
It is very monochromatic out.
-
Will we never get to page five?
-
So it is written, so it shall be done - page five.
-
As those who've read the Kritzer books know, I attended many television tapings out here, including Juke Box Jury, The Red Skelton Show (many times), The Dick Van Dyke Show, People Are Funny, and several game shows of the era.

Now, now, BK; not all West Coast hainsies/kimlets live in L. A. Other West Coasters would include Ron Pulliam, MBarnum, Jane, JMK, George, TCB, Jed, Ann (known now as JEAN); not to mention Dear Reader Laura, Music Guy, Matthew, and Kerry.
I hope I didn't miss anyone!
-
I know, I know. I was just talking about LA vs. Manhattan. :)
In about a half-hour I'll start back on page 194 (which begins the new set of pages) and read straight through to the end. I do know I have to add a couple of small things.
-
Just to reiterate - I know these big CD lists came within a week of each other, so if there are things you want but you need to wait a week or two to pay, just let me know so I can hold them for you, which I'm happy to do. I think we're just about out of Sondheim At The Movies now - I'll double check.
-
...Hmm, maybe I was responsible for the show being cancelled. I hope so.
But we still have to blame Jose.
-
Green Eggs and Ham (plus Turkey):
-
Oh DRGINNY - that picture put me off my feed.
-
I'll just cover the left side with my hand....there....oh my....now I'm hungry again!
-
Green eggs don't appeal to you, DR JRand?
-
Interesting television stories!
I am watching HOCKEY in HDTV!!
Thanks for the TAR info, DR MATTH. Will it look BETTER on the HD channel or just the same? So material must have been created in some HD format in order to be broadcast in HD? Kind of like why would something made in b/w be in color on a color television? Right?
I keep remembering those old RCA television ads where the little guy used to run around with his hair standing up and singing: WOW!!! I've seen color TV....RCA Victor color tv!!!

Green eggs don't appeal to you, DR JRand?

Oh, my. I must get prepared for work yet again.
-
Good afternoon, all!
Lots of singing this morning. With a large choir, a pipe organ, a brass quintet, and a set of timpani, we made a lot of noise. :P
-
DR Ginny - LOL about your egg prep. Have a lovely day with your family! *I* would eat your green eggs, anytime! :)
-
WOD:
Are you talking about my latent tendencies?
-
DR JRand56, I have never been on a game show, but around 1999 I was a Lifeline on "Who Wants to Be a Millionaire?" Does that help?
DR elmore3003, did you make it on air?
-
DR Edisaurus, adding to those DRs who thanked you for all the details of your exciting trip. and
***TRAVEL VIBES*** to you and DH Greg.
-
***STOMACH VIBES*** to DR George.
But you don't have to give us any further details... :)

Just be sure to heed the warning that comes with the molds:
"Do Not Swallow Jell-O Eggs Whole"
For some reason, that struck me hilariously funny.
-
I love jello. I would love your eggs. Ok, I admit it. I think loving jello is a genetic thing when your from the midwest
-
DR Jose, fingers crossed. I think all three of the places where your name is being bandied about in a very good way sound great. (Is that vague enough to cover it for superstition purposes?)
-
SAFE TRAVEL VIBES TO DR EDISAURUS AND HER DH GREG~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
-
Yes we need more photos from the West Coast gathering.
And photos from DRJOSE....whose future is so bright he needs to wear shades!
DR CP's "Hercules" in on the SciFi channel tonight, so he can start watching for a big check.
-
I have finished season one of Grey's anatomy. Getting ready to start season 2. Since I only have 5 episodes (that's all they had at Blockbuster) think I'll go ahead and watch them. Then I'll have to figure out how I get the rest.
-
Home vibes for DR EDISAURUS.
-
Think I'll go stretfh a little before starting the next Grey's marathon
-
I love jello. I would love your eggs. Ok, I admit it. I think loving jello is a genetic thing when your from the midwest
DR Cillaliz - I also have a mold shaped like the 48 contiguous states, with state boundaries outlined. We'll save Iowa for you!
-
DR Cillaliz - we've had good luck getting TV series from Netflix. And don't forget your public library!
-
Well, my company should be arriving anytime.
Bye for now!
-
Where in tarnation IS everyone? You'd think it was Easter Sunday or something.
-
Feel-better vibes to DR George!
These things will pass, DR GEORGE.
;)
Thanks FJL and JRand! Actually, I'm feeling MUCH better this morning. :D
-
Congratulations on BK finishing his new book!! ;D Can't wait for it to actually be published!
-
RENO 911! has a new episode at 10:30, DR George!
My DVR is set to record the series!! Thanks for the reminder, though. :)

More than you ever wanted to know!
But did you notice, "Site Last Updated : 25th July, 2005" ::)

Last night, Jose and Singdaw were having a discussion about the song "The Hills of Tomorrow" from Sondheim's Merrily We Roll Along. I'm pretty sure that I have (buried in a box downstairs) the published choral arrangement of the whole song. It has the middle section that was not recorded...if I remember correctly. It has a piano part, but it's optional. It's supposed to be sung a cappella. If anyone wants it, I can try to dig it out.
-
Hmmmm free for all day:
Has anyone from HHW ever appeared on a television game show? What was it like? Did you win any prizes?
I haven't been on a game show, but a woman that works in my building has a daughter who went on Wheel of Fortune recently and I guess did very well! Her daughter is in college and it was a college kids special week. The episode hasn't aired, yet! It's going to be broadcast April 16. I have to usher that night, so I'll have my DVR set to record it.
-
George-I hope you are feeling better before your family gathering.
Thanks, Jane. I feel like I'm getting better and better as the day goes on. :)
-
Good luck on any of these!! Do you have a preference for any over the others? What other factors influence that preference? The show itself? The actors? ::)
-
DR Cillaliz - we've had good luck getting TV series from Netflix. And don't forget your public library!
Yes! And if your local library doesn't have it, they may be able to get it through Interlibrary Loan!

DR George. Interesting! If you can find it - easily - I'd be interested in seeing it, but I don't want to put you to any inconvenience. Since our discussion last night, I found that there is a published version in the "All Sondheim", volume 3 [the red one] which has the music and lyrics of that middle section, but only arranged as a solo, without all the voice parts. I suppose if you distributed the piano reduction/accompaniment chorally, it might work.
-
I have the vocal score and vocal sections to the show. Otherwise, it's not difficult looking through the boxes that I have, it's just that I have a lot of boxes. If you can wait, I can look through them over the next few days and see what I find.
-
For those who have experience with this, how does getting a box set of a whole season of a television show through Netflix work. Do they send you the whole season at a time, or just one disc of a box set at a time?
How about at a library?
-
If you can wait
I have all the time in the world! :)
-
Netflix usually has each disc as it's own selection. You can select "Add All" and all of the discs in the series will be added to your queue at once, but you'll get them one at a time.
-
The library where I work at has TV series' seasons packaged together. It makes much more sense to do it that way than splitting them up because (for a library which gets its money from taxes) it takes practially the same amount of time and money to process and package each individual disc, as it does to do a whole series at once in one package. And the patrons have shown a strong preference for getting TV seasons together instead of one disc at time. I would hope that most other libraries have the same policy.

DR SINGDAW,
I believe you said you finished reading Kritzerland. So you're about to start Kritzer Time? Or you meant that you finished the trilogy?
(We do look out for out newbies, even when they're already Gods.)

Will we never get to page five?
No worries.

Well, I must be off. It's time to shower and go to my parents' house. Have a Happy Easter (if it's not too late ;)) everyone!
;D

I think all sports look superb in high def. I've watched things like baseball and boxing and hockey that wouldn't normally draw my attention, but in high def, it's like another dimension has been added. Really kind of hypnotic.
Now, to answer your question, no, programs shot in standard definition can be upconverted to high def. You'll see a lot of old LAW & ORDER episodes on TNT-HD that weren't originally shot lin HD ook almost as good as the more recent ones shot in HD.
Of course, since film has a higher resolution than high definition video, any film can be transferred into a high definition version in the transfer process. In fact, when you buy certain DVDs, you'll see the transfer referred to in the liner notes as a high definition transfer. This transfer is then down converted to standard definition DVDs so they can be read by all players, but it means there is a high definition master ready to be used to press high def DVDs when the demand arises.
-
I believe you said you finished reading Kritzerland. So you're about to start Kritzer Time? Or you meant that you finished the trilogy?
Thanks, DR Jeanne -
Yes, I finished the second volume last evening and am now a few pages into the third. I am enjoying them immensely. bk balances so delicately between whimsy, melancholy, the absurd, and heartbrake - the whole is surprisingly moving. I would think especially for folks who have always been a bit on the periphery of the whole adolescent scene.
-
BTW, I did flip over to ABC last night and saw they they did not broadcast THE TEN COMMANDMENTS in HD. It wasn't even the Vistavision version but rather a pan and scan abomination that they've been showing for decades. Yuck!
-
This afternoon I did watch some MEDIUM episodes. I began with the one with Molly Ringwald playing the blind girl who had the uneasy feeling she was being watched at night while she slept. One of the best episodes of the second season.
-
Page Seven Hermione, Harry, and Ron Dance!!!
-
The other MEDIUM episode was the one I originally wanted to watch with Frederic Lane as the guest star. It involved the death of a man who thought he was doing secret government work (shades of A BEAUTIFUL MIND). David Carradine was also a guest star on the episode.

Yes, BK did a very fine job. Of course, KRITZER TIME has some of the best characters, IMHO.

I concluded my afternoon by watching LAYER CAKE, the thriller with Daniel Craig, Michael Gambon, and Colm Meany. The drug snatch and carry plot was overly convoluted, and with the thick Cockney accents, it was sometimes difficult to know who had what and who was trying to retrieve what. Certainly there were surprises along the way, but I can't imagine ever wanting to watch this again.
-
Tonight, I'll get to BULLITT and may have time left over to squeeze in a WILD WILD WEST episode before settling in with ABC's prime time line-up. I'll save the other shows for later viewing.

My impression was about the same as yours, Matt. I passed when it was in the theatres, but saw it on DVD. Yes on "overly convuluted" and I didn't really care a lot about the characters. I've seen some fine performances from Daniel Craig, but this wasn't one of them. I thought Michael Gambon did well, though; I've never seen a bad performance from him.
-
Oy. I am tired. Mr. Goldstein brought the girls over two hours early for church. The girls had a great time, but I imagine that Grandma will plotz when they tell her about their trip to church.
-
Happy Easter!

As I was watching it, I kept thinking that if I watched it again, some of the clouds of confusion over who was who and who wanted what would lift, and I might enjoy it more, but really, when it was over, I just knew that even at less than 2 hours, I could find a better film to rewatch. So, I erased it off the DVR.

Good Afternoon!
BK - John Kander is sitting next to me right now. He says, "Hi!"
:)
-
Hi, John!
-
I have finished smoothing out the last sixty-seven pages. The final line I came up with last night works fine - I added one word to it, and that's what it will be, unless Margaret feels it needs something more - I like its simplicity, frankly. I ended up taking out two little paragraphs that preceded the final two lines - they seemed like dead air to me. I cleaned up a lot of little things. Now, what should I EAT?
Pages are printing out, then I'll Xerox, then drop them by Margaret's.
-
As for Peeps...
I buy them.
I like them.
I eat them.
And I like to put them in the microwave, and watch them expand too.
-
DR Jose, I wanted to comment on your "hints" of potential gigs and say how thrilled I will be if any of them come to pass. You deserve them all and look forward to hearing from you about any that do come your way.
Even being considered has to make you proud!
-
Hi Mr. K!
-
Heading down now to clean the guest bath and then sit down with Mr. McQueen in BULLITT's high def transfer.
WBBL.
-
Hi, John!
:)
(That's John smiling.)
-
Hi, DR JoseSPiano...
Will be in the lobby area around 6:45 PM with DH Jayson.
:)
-
Good luck on any of these!! Do you have a preference for any over the others? What other factors influence that preference? The show itself? The actors? ::)

Thanks. And I'm not sure "proud" is the word I would use to describe about the possibilities... More like "giddy" :D with a touch of "disbelief" :o.
As for which gig I'd prefer, I'd truly be happy with any of them. Alas, all three more or less overlap. And all three are more or less connected in some form or another. However, there is a chance that two of them could end up working out back to back.
We shall see.

What ever happened to the group Kajagoogoo, which did the song "Too Shy"
They tried to "Hang On" in 1983 and had 7 hits in the UK.
Lead singer was Limahl - "Never Ending Story".
He is Chris Himall and likes anagrams!
Rodzinski would have known all that I would guess.
-
DR elmore3003, did you make it on air?
Alas, no. The contestant used up his Lifeline on a medical question by calling a doctor friend of ours in Boston. The question he gave up on would have been my phone call. Still, he won around $100,000 and to thank me, he took me to see the original cast of THE PRODUCERS.
-
I have music written by Mr Kander playing right now all the way out here in Indiana!
-
About $100,000 would have covered two tickets to the original cast of THE PRODUCERS from what I hear.
-
Good Afternoon!
BK - John Kander is sitting next to me right now. He says, "Hi!"
:)
Tell him I said howdy, too. and he should hire me!
-
Oh my, just watching some interviews with the MASTERS players.
Guess what Jesus was doing today?
Nope....he was playing golf with Zach Johnson.
-
Hi, DR JoseSPiano...
Will be in the lobby area around 6:45 PM with DH Jayson.
:)
Does that mean you named your Dear Hump Jayson?
-
Uh oh...Tiger Woods went into the sand trap and said "Hell" on television.
Two hours early? Oh my DR LAURA....I can imagine Papa doesn't mind, but my guess is that the Princesses were impatient to get to your house!!!
-
OK... A few more last minute fixes and then the run-thru, so...
Laters...
-
Break a leg, DRJOSE
-
Have fun DR SINGDAW and DH JAYSON.....don't forget to post photos!!
-
Wow - these guys at the MASTERS are all putting like they are contestants on Hole in One on The Price is Right
-
Happy Easter, Everyone!
I have just finished eating a yummy meal of Ham and Sweet Yam.
I have to confess that the glaze that I used this time around was very good. It was made by Boar's Head. The brown sugar version.
Mom is doing much better. I am so happy and grateful that it wasn't as bad I feared. Whew! Another bullet dodged.
I now have so many digital pictures that I'm very afraid I might lose some if my computer breaks down. Soooo I decided to spend some of my income tax money on a 500 gig My Book. That's a stand alone hard drive in laymens terms.
I'm going to start to transfer my photos over to it in some kind of order because now everything is just stuffed on my computer in no kind of order at all.
I think this will be a good thing.
-
I've never been on a game show but I was on a local childrens show for a birthday when I was growing up. It was called "The Mary Ellen show" It was on local channel 13. Kinda like "Romper Room".
I only have about two real memories of it since it was before anyone could record shows from the TV.
I remember something about being scared because they were popping balloons. I'm still don't like'em. And meeting the local weatherman, Roy Leap. I think that's how you spell his last name.
-
HAPPY EASTER,
EVERYONE!
-
Does anone really enjoy the taste of Peeps?
Does anyone actually eat all those Peeps?
I do!
and I do! Along with Bear, Shenna and Mom. Bear and Shenna are funny to watch because they can't figure out why it sticks to their mouths.
I know I shouldn't give it to them but they only get about a half a peep each.
They had such a good time at the dog park today.
-
Jut back from seeing THE PIRATE QUEEN.
Liked LEGALLY BLONDE much much much more than PIRATE QUEEN.
But some stunning choreography and eye-popping design in PIRATE QUEEN. Stephanie Block was out; teh udnerstudy was quite good.
-
Ben - I relayed Ant's lovely message to Skip.
-
Good to hear from you, Danise. I'm glad to hear Mom is doing better.
-
I am baking a ham for dinner. I don't eat mammal, so I will have a big salad and a big plate of vegetables. I can just feel my cholesterol level going down.
-
You went to CULVER CITY???!!! :) LA friends have told me that it's a real up-and-coming place, but I grew up there and still think of it as movie studios and not a whole lot else. Yes, I'm a bit out of date.
It is hard to imagine Culver City a hot spot ;D
-
Back from a lazy drive. I went to Staples to Xerox only to find Staples closed. Since I'm superstitious about where I Xerox, I decided not to try and find anywhere that was open. I'll do it first thing in the morning. I ate some Popeye's fried chicken and now I'm watching a motion picture on DVD.
-
My goodness, we'd better have a frenzy or eight in the next six hours or so.
-
Just be sure to heed the warning that comes with the molds:
"Do Not Swallow Jell-O Eggs Whole"
For some reason, that struck me hilariously funny.
;D It is funny.
The green eggs are very pretty. Years ago I would make fudge Easter eggs about that size & decorate them. They were a big hit.
-
Whew! Our Easter party is over and I'm exhausted. The green eggs were a hit, DS Rob's girlfriend survived meeting both grandmas and great Aunt Jo, and both kids were pleased with what the Easter Bunny left in their baskets. Before dinner we watched Easter Parade, which I own on DVD and watch every year.
-
TAR is pretty good tonight. Halfway through and a BIG lead has evaporated.
Flight trouble for someone else though.....
-
In the March, 2007, issue of House Beautiful there is a H U G E photo of the FOX Theatre in Detroit.
A famous movie producer worked there as a teen-ager and when he made his first BIG money, he went back to his hometown and BOUGHT the theatre!! And it was.....................
-
DR Cillaliz - we've had good luck getting TV series from Netflix. And don't forget your public library!
All the public libraries in our county went out of business on Friday.
There is a photo in the paper of demonstrators, all children, being escorted our of our local library by a policeman. It is a cute photo of the policeman holding a couple of the little ones hands.
-
Now, I'm running the dishwasher, watching The Sound of Music on TV, and polishing off a bottle of Gewurztraminer.

Yesterday's mentioned Producer:
Mr Herman (I am the Captain of this Ship) Cohen. ;D

What is EVERYONE'S favorite moment from the movie THE SOUND OF MUSIC?
I know it's hard to choose.......
I love when the Captain starts to sing with the children.... :)
-
Shocking!!!
JRand-We seemed to have been far too dependent on government funding which was pulled.
Really shocking is a few years back a bond to build new libraries was put on the ballet & passed. At the time there was no mention that the libraries were in any financial danger. Now to reopen the libraries a rather high tax increase will go on the next ballet. I suspect it won’t pass.
-

It's hard to choose & I might change my mind in a few minutes. The Captain was very cute when he blew his whistle to identify the children.
-
hello!
I have been away from my computer so much this weekend!
Both my grandmother and mother are sick...luckily both seem to be on their way to recovery.
I went to a wonderful 24/7 cafe for an easter breakfast with my mother this morning at FRED 62. Very yummy!

When the father and girlfriend are driving by and see the children in the trees. I laugh every time!

I love it most when it says, "THE END".

LOL....DR TCB....
DRs JANE & ADRIANNA PATTI have chosen some nicer moments.....
And then there is Eleanor Parker to Richard Hayden at the party:
"Why didn't you tell me."
"What?"
"To bring along my harmonica!"
-
Even more shocking DRJANE is that you are probably correct in a library funding referendum being defeated on the ballot....
Our Indianapolis City Library has had some renovation being done for nearly five years with charges of kickbacks and shoddy construction and all kinds of political wrangling. The Library Board is in constant flux and turmoil. Someone comes in to "fix" everything and less than a year later is ousted amid charges of theft and corruption.
Sad sad sad.....as Martha would say via Mr Albee.
-
We had a very nice salmon, wild rice and green bean dinner for Easter. No piggies were killed. No peeps were eaten either although I must say we both (Ant and I) love peeps.
Jose, congrats on one of three possibilities.

When the father and girlfriend are driving by and see the children in the trees. I laugh every time!
That scene also flashed in my mind.
Stay healthy vibes!

Sad sad sad..
Very sad.
I must confess, as much as I believe in libraries I don’t want to pay the tax to “fix” what shouldn’t have happened.
There was something on the last ballet, we voted for, to cover expenses, if needed. I don’t think the cost to the taxpayers was as high for that one & it didn’t pass. Of course that was before the libraries actually closed.

I read the three hints that DR Jose posted last evening. I understood the first and the third, but I didn't understand the second one.
In order to avoid jinxing Jose, could someone kindly e-mail or PM me what the second show might be?
-
Edi-Safe & easy travels.
George I hope you are still feeling better after your celebratory meal.
Danise I’m happy to hear you, your mother, Bear & Sheena had a nice Easter.

Will we never get to page ten?

What was most embarrassing was that DR MBarnum knew the answers and I didn't!

Naw, it's not that obvious of a hint if you aren't thinking of that show.

Thanks. The Dutchman's pipe isn't much to look at, but it is the host plant for the pipevine swallowtail butterfly. :)

It is amazing that after all the eggs we colored yesterday, we don't have any at all at our house.
-
Ok, not really amazing. But still....

JoAnn and I have had a great evening of television. We had a wonderful dinner, with the Macbeths, my nephew Matt, his frend Ryan and Ryan's girlfriend, and Jo's daughter-in-law and grandson. It was all quite friendly and festive. When the guests cleared out, Jo and I watched a rock-bottom action film called THE SWEEPER with C. Thomas Howell, a giveaway, which we laughed through. After that the first episode of THE SOPRANOS which was quite packed with incident.
Tomorrow, I have to deal with the attorney; we sold my dad's car yesterday and I need to take care of the tiitle transfer. Tomorrow night, dinner with a friend I've kept missing over the past year, and then I return on Tuesday to NYC. It's a hectic existence.
Good night, all!
-
Could someone PM me, too, about what the second one on Jose's list was?
-
Could someone PM me, too, about what the second one on Jose's list was?
Wasn't it A Chorus Line?
-
Does that mean you named your Dear Hump Jayson?
My dear DR TCB, you are just uncanny! :)
-
Thanks, Larry, that makes sense.
-
Have fun DR SINGDAW and DH JAYSON.....don't forget to post photos!!
Alas, I didn't bring a camera, and DR JoseSPiano was a mite...busy. :(
That's an understatement! :)

We had a very nice salmon, wild rice and green bean dinner for Easter. No piggies were killed. No peeps were eaten either although I must say we both (Ant and I) love peeps.
Ah, my kind of meal. I looovvvee salmon. But I've never cared for peeps. You can pass me the See's, thank you.
-
Will we never get to page eleven?
-
It's amazing with this far - every time I've been in the jernt there's only two or three people here.
-
Finished one motion picture and shall now start another. Hope it's better than the one I just finished, which was pretty terrible
-
Well, may I wish a VERY HAPPY EASTER and a WONDERFUL PASSOVER to all of the lovely and studly DRs here in the Living Room.
We had a nice "family get-together" lunch today at a pleasant restaurant with a nice patio for sitting outside. The highpoint of the lunch, was finding out that a family member is pregnant, and she and her fiance are planning to get married sometime in the near future. It is something that she has wanted for quite awhile now, and so I'm very happy for her!! She is also an incredibly sweet, smart, and witty girl, and also a schoolteacher.
-
So I had a very nice Easter Sunday, and I even had the wonderful bonus of getting a fabulous text message from dear DR studly Jose !!
Jose.... you are in big trouble when I'm in NYC ! But only in a good way.
-
I was thrilled to read about the completion of your new book BK. As I told you, I've been looking forward to this one since we first talked about it.
Mazel tov !!!!
-
And so for now, I'm going to watch a show, and then have an early evening. I will be re-vitalized for the upcoming week, and so I will exude masculine energy and swarthy testosterone !
..."I am a lumberjack and I'm OK......."
-
Good night, all.
-
Good night, Jeanne.
-
I spent my late morning/early afternoon watching the DVD of "Easter Parade", including all the extras.
That DVD is spectacular, by the way...with vivid colors.
-
Happy "Today" to one and all.
-
Favorite SOUND OF MUSIC moment: in the graveyard when Gretyl asks, "Would it help if we sing about our favorite things?" In the midst of that tense situation, that always makes me laugh.
-
Will we never get to page eleven?
Never. All posters will wuss out two posts before the page changes.
-
Will we never get to page ten?
Sure.
-
Will we never get to page eleven?
Eventually.
-
My favorite "Sound of Music" moment is the section when the movie opens over cloud-draped mountaintops through the family's hiking up into the mountains at the film's conclusion.
A PERFECT movie treat, IMO.
-
I began my evening with the Blu-ray disc of BULLITT. It looked very nice and put my SD copy of BULLITT to shame. The car chase remains a great stunt sequence, but I've always though the chase at the airport was not the film's finest hour. Still, glad to have this film looking so good.
-
I also watched EASTER PARADE, at least as much of it as I could get to before my evening TV programs began.
I got to Judy's test to see if she could attract attention before I stopped the film.
I agree with DR Ron Pulliam. I thought the film looked lush and beautiful. The first time I watched this, I think I was a little disapppointed in the transfer, but watching it today, there is nothing to be disappointed about. Of course, I've recalibrated my TV since the last time I watched it, so that may have had something to do with its looking so gorgeous this evening.
-
DESPERATE HOUSEWIVES had some fun with the various ladies tonight, one of the more comic episodes in this year's line-up. Nice to see Paxton Whitehead and Lynn Redgrave as Ian's parents.
(Gaby "stealing" the dresses was a little much, I thought.)
-
I have music written by Mr Kander playing right now all the way out here in Indiana!
Imagine THAT...!
:D
-
Thank you. I guess I am even more stupid than I look!
Now, now.....let's not be too hard on ourselves!!!
-
:D
-
BROTHERS & SISTERS had an involving episode, too. It brought some relationships to an end and began anew with some others. Good show, but I didn't quite get Kevin's hot and cold behavior with Chad.
-
If I had to pick only one scene from SOM to watch -- although I can't imagine being faced with such a dilemma -- it would be the sequence following "My Favorite Things" as Maria takes the kids around Salzburn and environs dressed in their "new" playclothes.
-
I'll have five hours of shows recorded tonight to watch over the next few days. I have another Criterion disc I have to get to - La HAINE tomorrow.
And, of course, there are a good many new shows on tomorrow night as well. Just not enough hours in the day!
-
Good Evening!
WHEW!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
-
-But it's a good WHEW!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
:)
-
And, yes, as DR singdaw mentioned previously, I ended up a might busier tonight than originally planned. Originally, I was just supposed to be off today, and observer, but since there was some work that needed to be done... I did some of it. And then since Mr. Kander's music assistant is playing in the pit of the show, he had no one to take notes for him during the run of the show. So, with pen and paper in hand...
...And I will be back on Tuesday... Thank you, Mr. Kander. :)

So, hopefully, I can take some pictures on Tuesday. I really did want to take pictures of and with everyone tonight since it was supposed to be my last day with the company, but I was editing, Finale-ing, and copying orchestra parts for a good chunk of time today.
And, thankfully, I can come back Tuesday since it's my only totally free day this week. Timing is everything.

Never. All posters will wuss out two posts before the page changes.

Good night, MattH.

I apologize for my truancy but I was out of town spending time with my parents. My father so far has beaten the odds but he has outlived the original estimates. However the cancer is starting to take its toll on his body.
I dohave a very special request and I hoping you guys can help. I would appreciate it. He would like it played at his funeral. Yes, he is a farmer at heart.
I am looking for "Black Land Farmer" by Wink Martindale. I am hoping if someone has it, if they could convert it to a format that could play on a cd.
-
DR singdaw - Thank You for the pastries and cookies! Very delicious. You made some very tired actors and a tired musical assistant very happy during the van ride back to The City.
*And I've saved one of the tarts for my breakfast. :)
-
DR Danise - Peace to you and your family.
-
George I hope you are still feeling better after your celebratory meal.
All is well and nothing unexpected happened. ;) I think that it's all over with. :)
-
Well, frankly, I'm a tad exhausted right now. Part of working on the orchestra parts today involved repeated trips to the pit throughout the day. And since there's no direct route from the pit/dressing room area to the house... I swear I must have logged at least five miles today - and half of that was stairs. So...
I'm gonna just sit back and watch some TV right now. If I ended up Wussburgering out, so be it. But if I don't, I'll be back. But if I do...
Goodnight.
-
Peace to Danise and her family...

I must confess, as much as I believe in libraries I don’t want to pay the tax to “fix” what shouldn’t have happened.
Which part of "shouldn't happened"?:
A. The Country Administration's willingness to spend vast sums to build "public places" without any planning for operating expenses.
B. The voters' failure to tax themselves for their own benefits (most folks live in areas that have sales taxed to support local services).
C. The ecologists that preferred the spotted owl over logging jobs.
D. The citizenry that failed to read the writing on the wall: "no logging means no jobs" and relocate to areas with better job opportunities.
Public Libraries in general have a problem: there are more and more folks like me who no longer have a personal use for them. Between the Internet and Borders, I no longer use libraries - don't even have a card. My Grand lads have little us for them either; the elementary school has a pretty good library and the hours at the local public library make it virtually useless for them (It closes at 6PM on M,T,TH,Fri - kids don't get home until 5:45; its stays open to 7:30 on Wed, which is Cub Scout night; it closes at 3PM on Sat, and the parents are too busy doing weekly chores to take time out to trek to a library.
In urban areas where libraries are within walking distance, they get more use.

His sense of humour was still there but he has lost a considerable amount of weight. His liver is basically blocked and that is not good.

iTunes has three versions of "Black Land Farmer." Frankie Miller, Sleepy LaBeef and Steve Young, but not Wink Martindale.

I found this:

Actually, on the twelfth CD down, there is a link to it -- "Discovered Vol. 2"

Congrats bk on finishing your book! Kudos to you good sir!

DR Tom, can you try resending your note please....

I dohave to say a highlight of the weekend was when he told Aunt Vulture off!!
I enjoyed that... as did my mother!

I bought 2 shirts today( impulse buy) that have fortune cookie saying on them.

the other says - "to love great is to live great"

It's just to your mail box here Dakota. Will do.

Something exciting - hmmm. Perhaps a lean cuisine pizza? I did eat fried chicken and a couple of Godiva truffles, but, I'm tempted, oh, yes, I'm tempted.

'B.C.' Comic Strip Creator Johnny Hart Dead at 76
Sunday , April 08, 2007
ENDICOTT, N.Y. —
Cartoonist Johnny Hart, whose award-winning "B.C." comic strip appeared in more than 1,300 newspapers worldwide, died at his home on Saturday. He was 76.
"He had a stroke," Hart's wife, Bobby, said on Sunday. "He died at his storyboard."
"B.C.," populated by prehistoric cavemen and dinosaurs, was launched in 1958 and eventually appeared in more than 1,300 newspapers with an audience of 100 million, according to Creators Syndicate, Inc., which distributes it.
After he graduated from Union-Endicott High School, Hart met Brant Parker, a young cartoonist who became a prime influence and co-creator with Hart of the "Wizard of Id" comic strip.

Having a lean cuisine pizza - just what the doctor ordered. And I got tired of the doctor ordering it, so I got one, too.

Why is it that no matter how terrible a film, no matter how wretchedly bad it is, there will be ten rave "reviews" on the imdb. What movie are these people watching, because it's certainly not the one I'm watching.

There must be a least 10 friends and relatives of those who have a vested interest in the film.

Delusions of grandeur???
I did watch a movie I had not seen in years this past weekend, COOL HAND LUKE with Paul Newman.
