Pogue and I went to something called the Cracker Barrel for lunch.  It was GREAT.  I took it easy there - had a great chicken salad sandwich and cole slaw.  So, not too heavy.  Will take it easy at the deli, too.

You went to a Cracker Barrel?!?!?  Well... I would have gone to a Perkins if I had the choice. ;)

DR Jose, I've heard today that several Library of Congress checks for the March 22 concert have bounced. That concert was cursed, I tell ya, cursed!

Umm... Thanks for the update. :-\ And, apparently, today is the day the funds are supposed to be wired to the AFM, so... We shall see...

Good morning...well it's after midnight here.  The placard meeting was still going when I left at 11:45 PM!   There were 30 houses on the agenda.  A number were demolished, but we got a 90 day extension on a lot of them, including the former synagogue. Many of the houses are in the same neighborhood that Paul and He who hates cats live in.  It's a cool historic district that is just starting to come to life.  The council agreed to the deferral and actually went though a lot of soul searching on how to save some of these buildings.

I had the best time.  I know that sounds silly, I was sitting with he who hates cats, his best friend, my friends Margo and John.  When you sit through a five hour meeting there are many things that get to be quite funny

Glad on the whole it went well.  Now you must convert the cat hater. ;)

Yes MR BK is in Indy.

And yes, MR BK - we shall be dining away from the hotel....EVIL KURT has decided and knows the way and all.....we shall be meeting in the lobby of the hotel a bit before five....and then off to Shapiro's - as recommended coincidentally by DR JOSE in his post.....   ;D

Of course DR Jose would know where to eat. :D

DR Matt H, I never saw Madonna's Vogue.  I think Emma turned him down after his encounter, she only said she wasn't ready for sex.  In all fairness, he did stop before it went too far.  He is such an idiot though since he went there worried Rachael was being taken advantage of & then gets caught in the trap.  I thought he had fallen in love with Emma, he could give her just a little bit of time since she is only scared, not unwilling.

re: BK's flight by the window

I know you only booked recently. But if someone says they are claustrophobic is there no way that they can make sure that person has an aisle seat??

And they don't do it for health reason's either, I've tried.

And now I cannot stop thinking of MR BK and DR CP rocking in chairs on the front porch at Cracker Barrel.

DR CP:  Boy the food here is terrible.

MR BK:  It sure is.  And such small portions, too.

On TCM last night was Gabriel Pascal's 1945 filming of "Caesar and Cleopatra" with Claude Rains and Vivien Leigh.  It's a gorgeous, yet soundstage-bound, production with soundstage "sound" when actors are "acting" in outside/outdoor scenes.

Much seems stilted by today's practices of filming classics, but there is fun to be had, including Claude Rains in just about every scene he's in.  Particular fun is had with Cleopatra's nurse Ftateeta portrayed by the wonderful Flora Robson at her most menacing.

CÆSAR. Good! But first, let us have Cleopatra here.

THEODOTUS. She is not in Alexandria: she is fled into Syria.

CÆSAR. I think not. (To Rufio) Call Totateeta.

RUFIO (calling). Ho there, Teetatota.

Ftatateeta enters the loggia, and stands arrogantly at the top of
the steps.

FTATATEETA. Who pronounces the name of Ftatateeta,
the Queen's chief nurse?

CÆSAR. Nobody can pronounce it, Tota, except yourself.
Where is your mistress?

The constant mispronunciation of her name was one of the best running gags in that movie which I found fairly ponderous when I watched it to review a few months back (in was part of a George Bernard Shaw box set from Criterion).

She's also germaphobic, something that might cause a bit of a problem when it comes to intimacy.

I watched last night's THE MENTALIST while I ate lunch. It was a rerun, of course, but I found it wildly entertaining. Jane is at his most playful and baiting of the suspects. I love when he pokes pins into their puffed up sense of entitlement.

Then I spent a great majority of the afternoon rewatching RIDE WITH THE DEVIL on Blu-ray. It's a terrific Blu-ray transfer, and I enjoyed it even more the second time through. The core ensemble is really strong and play off one another quite wonderfully.

The one bonus interview featurette was in 1080p. The two commentaries and the booklet in the case are the only other bonuses.

I skimmed through today's AS THE WORLD TURNS. Nothing of interest, but Reid and Luke were in the previews for next week (in a saloon where Luke is getting ready to ride a mechanical bull!)

I then returned to ON CUKOR that I had started rewatching last night. Got to BORN YESTERDAY which made me decide to watch a Judy Holliday movie tonight. I'll just have to decide which one I want to see.

I forgot to mention that I did skim through the Wednesday IDOL results show. I knew who went home already, but I wanted to see Adam Lambert's "What Do You Want From Me?" live performance. ENjoyed it despite the overproduction.

And I just read that USA has renewed BURN NOTICE for two additional seasons even though season four hasn't even started airing yet. So we can count on at least six total seasons of the hit show which is good news indeed!

We loved the food at the Cracker Barrel.  We didn't sit in the rockers, but I did buy a couple of peanut butter moon pies.  They have unbelievable candy from my childhood.

Now I'm going to hop off-line to do some writing and then head back down to finish ON CUKOR, watch a Judy Holliday movie, and then maybe watch last night's PROJECT RUNWAY.

I just had a nice talk with Mr Ron Raines, who's back from seeing Charlotte in a play at U of michigan, and it was nice to catch up. I have to get myself some dinner, once I figure out what that may be, and do a little more OZ work.
