Today's our hot one, reaching 91 this afternoon. I'm probably not going to do any outdoors work in that, but there'll be plenty of it to get back to the rest of the weekend when our highs will be in the low 80s.

And guess who was completely screwed over by Access-a-Ride this morning? Damned bastards.

Today we close on the house - and so the BIGGEST thing left to do will be done.

The rest is legal business and tax stuff.....and then we can close the estate and MOVE ON!

Congratulations.

Has anyone read Mr. Malcolm’s List? A movie version is opening today.

It’s Regency, which means Austen country.

BK -- I'm still amazed at what you found re your dad just in newspapers.

I have an Ancestry.com membership that I don't use as often as I should. If you'd like me to search for any documents that might be there, just say the word. If not, I'll leave it alone.

Typically, it's birth/marriage/death records, military, census data, sometimes a yearbook or city directory listing, maybe a photo published somewhere, or another newspaper pointer. At least you have a good distinctive family name to search on (as opposed to mine which is a nightmare to research).

My cousin has arranged that the closing will be in our town instead of 30 miles away, so that is good.

The closing costs on our end are a bit over $23,000 - which is a bummer - but there you are.

Yikes! :o

Well, we will try again tomorrow morning for a trip to my pharmacy and then to my barber. I am still angry at Access-a-Ride for their epic debacle today.

Someone on the Disney group where I posted that original Retta Scott painting, just called it racist and said I had nerve, I guess, posting it on public message board. Someone before him and tried to do that coyly and I responded the art is of its time, it's based on a book published in the 1800s and that I wasn't someone who wanted to erase Song of the South. With this guy, I just said well, let's just torch it, remove it, light it on fire, burn all art, literature, and history that makes you uncomfortable. Of course, the guy doing this is - white.

I also told him he could go lecture the forty-two people who "liked" and "hearted" the post. And this is a group called Disney HISTORY. Not for this idiot. An actor, no less, and one I will certainly never be working with.

That piece of Disney art is gorgeous. Way, way out of my budget, but I coveted it.
