Back from a fun meal at Vitello's - had a small Caesar, garlic toast, and spaghetti and meatballs.

A gorgeous calico showed up at the back door with her kitten. I had no food in the house but I did open some sardines. They’re very happy.

Decided I needed something different to watch. Picked up a DVD set of La Fanciulla del West from a dollar bin recently. It stars Deborah Voigt. The sound is excellent.

It’s been at least 25 years since I have seen this. If I recall, it had a big impact on Andrew Lloyd Webber.

What a day!

I got up this morning determined to go to Sam's Cllub and replenish some supplies.

I went to the post office and, for the first time in a week, had nothing!  Then I bought some gas at $4.44/gallon.

Then I drove to Aiken.  Sam's Club opens at 10 a.m.  I got there at 10:50 a.m.  The place was a madhouse.  So many people.  I immediately sussed that today was a payday and that this is when most people do their shopping.

Nevertheless, I got my shopping done and was on the road and back home by 12:15 p.m.

From there, it was time for a light lunch (salad) and a nap, which went on longer than I expected.

Dinner was also a salad...a different kind and with chicken.  Lunch was an Italian-style Caprese Salad.  Dinner was a southwestern salad.

It's what I wanted, so it's what I ate.

I have no idea what tomorrow may bring, but I survived this First Day of July.
