I am really surprised that three people named LONG DAYS JOURNEY as one of their top three plays.

BK, you surprised me.  I didn't expect you to like Ben McKenzie's work.

This must be Surprise Thursday.  Everything seems to surprise me.  Well, except for MBarnum's engagement to Jack LaLaine.

Why? It's a great play. I was lucky to see Jason Robards and Colleen Dewhurst do it in rep with AH! WILDERNESS, the happy fantasy and the cruel reality, back-to-back. Absolutely brilliant.

I agree.  It is a great play.  Colleen talked very lovingly about the show.  However, I think we had trouble getting three people to see the play on any given night.

How come?  I know he didn't do this production at the Long Wharf or Roundabout, but I thought he did a nice job.  Again, for me the show belonged to Keira Keeley, who was the best Laura I've ever seen - I found her on Facebook and told her so and she told me I'd made her day :)  Now, I wonder if she sings?

I actually have never seen Long Day's Journey on stage.  I grew to love it from first reading it and then seeing the superb Sidney Lumet film - they showed that at the Huntington Hartford Theater - the only film shown there in decades of it being a legit house.  I used to do Jamie's "Listen kid, you'll be going away soon" monologue quite often in drama class.

I know that Jrand really likes him, but I lump him in the mumbling actor category.

Since when has that stopped Mike from getting engaged?

Sooooo, what songs would be in a King Kong musical??

"He's Huge"

"Dinosaur Sing-Along"

"I Can See Hoboken from Here"

"My Monkey and Me"

I thought that was DR Jose's theme

I am love, love, loving Diane Schuur's Schuur Fire CD.  Lots of latin stuff, including a lovely rendition of Mendes-Bergman's "Look Around."

Talk about Surprise Thursday.....the guy from the state bar who audits our trust accounts showed up.  I was not ready for hime at all. They try to surprise people so he was quite amused.  Anyway, he's giving me until Monday to catch up on my book work.  I've decided that between this and the other wirk I need to do I'm not going to go to the preservation conference in Red Oak tomorrow.  I may still go on Saturday, but I really want to stay home.  So, I am.

And that does not include the 7% across the board cut that the Governor ordered before leaving for China.  Or the 10% across the board cut scheduled for January.

I need to go back to the office.  I have one ledger that just doesn't want to balance.  I'm sure it's something obvious that I'm just not seeing.  So, I'm going to go over it all again. I'll find it, it's just one of those pain in the ass things

TCB, Sounds like what I heard in our gubernatorial debate.  The governor kept saying he's balanced the budget....he didn't mention it was via across the board cuts, layoffs, furloughs etc.   and we should be happy about this?

I really need to go back to the office for awhile.  I left everything on so I'd have to go back.  Now I need to go back, even if it's just to shut everything off., lol
