Sometimes kids take things so literally.

My niece was wondering where her zaida (my dad) had gone (he went to pick up her dad (my brother-in-law) at the train.  So i say, "he went to pick up daddy".

And my niece says, "zaida can carry daddy?"

Just switching back and forth between DVDs and CDs.  A nice way to spend an evening.

What a wonderful evening of entertaining viewing I had tonight.

I began with JOURNEY TO THE CENTER OF THE EARTH. Mindless fun that I thoroughly enjoyed. 3-D on TV is never consistently great, but Blu-ray sharpness helps mightily, and I have to admit I dodged a couple of things that were coming right at me. Very effective when it's in focus.

Since JOURNEY was only 90 minutes long, I still had most of the evening, so I watched ALL THIS AND HEAVEN TOO which is almost 2 1/2 hours. A grand, melodramatic weeper from Warners glory days. And that fabulous Max Steiner score is just the best!

Warners didn't use a great print for the transfer, but after a rough opening reel, things started looking much better. Bette Davis can be a grand bitch in some of her films, but she can play sympathetic, too, as she does here and is most effective.

Next, I watched 30 ROCK. It had some OK comedy but wasn't consistently funny.

I skimmed through AS THE WORLD TURNS. No Luke today, but Brian and Luke appeared in the previews for next week. Maybe Monday.

And I ended my evening watching tonight's GHOST WHISPERER. I didn't find the little wishing well girl story all that interesting, but the Melinda-Sam/Jim story is what's intriguing now, wondering what they're eventually going to do with it.

I'm listening to the cast album of the new South Pacific, and must say I'm completely disappointed in it.  It's too small-sounding.  South Pacific is a big show and sounds big in the theater and the CD needed to reflect that.  It sounds too intimate, the huge orchestra doesn't have enough "space" around it and doesn't sound as good as it did in the theater, and the people's voices are too dry and also needed some space around them.  And it's mastered quite badly, so that you set a volume level you think is fine and then it's too loud in the loud bits and too soft in the soft bits, so you have to keep adjusting the volume, which is the worst sin in mastering.

Good Evening!

Well, save for being on AIM via my iPhone, I've almost been Internet-free for the past couple of hours. And I even got three loads of laundry done. And I'm still posting via my iPhone.

It was, has been a bit revealing(?) knowing how frustrated I got earlier. So, tomorrow, I believe will be a museum, movie and music day. I really do need a bit of a technology weaning. But until then...

Goodnight.

Agreed. It's just a bit dry in many respects. Heck, I think the Reba and Stokes live recording sounds better.

*However, the new(est) OCR sounds better via headphones.  -I love my Sennheisers!

In August many vibes were given for my dear friend Sue.  She could use some more right now.  I'm hoping for some much needed good news on Tuesday.

~~~Vibes for DR Jane's DF Sue!!~~~
Tonight's official opening night went off without a hitch!  The audience wasn't as large as last night's $5 preview, but they were a great audience.  Malcolm, one of the guys in the show, tutors fellow college math students and three of his students were there and LOVED it. :D
Now that the show is set, I'm really starting to figure out how much time I have between scenes to change costumes without rushing.
That's the best part.  I don't really have any super quick changes, so I can take my time, change my clothes and be where I need to be, when I need to be there and not panic. ;)
Fortunately, I'm able to change in a small room right behind the set.  Only one other person changes there, so it's not crowded at all.
