A bit of an oops.

I left the heat a little too high, and most of the beef broth steamed away.

It's great tasting condensed beef broth, but not enough to give the dish the liquid it needs for it's final form.

So I added a couple of cans of chicken broth.

Why chicken broth?  Because I was out of beef broth, of course.

I could have added water, but I wanted the brothy flavor.

And I made sure the heat is turned down as low as possible.

Hi Crew!

I'm angry. Why? Well there is a commercial for jewels or gold or something that features a clip from IT'S A WONDERFUL LIFE. Now, people made a big deal years ago, that the movie was shown too much on TV and the govt. declared it a classic, and it was protected and NBC was allowed the exclusive broadcast rights, etc. And now it's okay to have this classic movie shilling for some jewelry concern? This is a travesty, a crock, and a shame.

I could have added red wine, but that would have made it a Texas Bourgurgnoin.  Or however that's spelled.  Not what I'm going for.

Rodzinsky-I saw the commercial last night, a real let down.  The message from the movie & the commercial just don’t work.  IMHO it does the opposite, after watching the commercial jewelry was the last thing I wanted as an expression of love.

I also added the beans, both red kidney beans and black beans.  Now, my Mom would have done the red kidneys and settled.  Me, I like black beans and red kidneys together, because they taste different and have different textures.

It's all covered, set to very low, and we'll find out how it all comes out later.

Finished two more numbers today, both for our new ingenue.  I'm down to the two last vocals, which I'll try to finish up in the next two days.

I'll read a bit of the Toyland libretto tonight, and get to bed early.  Fantastic!

The final ingredient to tonight's chile will be a sprinkling of corn meal, if needed as a thickener.

Corn belongs with chile.  So do corn tortillas, which I will heat up right before serving the chile.  Flour tortillas are for poofters.   8)

Masa, baby, masa!

As for ads I don't like, how about that new Visa commercial with the music that was used in all those Warner Bros. cartoons to signify overmechanization?  The fast-food place is buzzing with workers working in automatron synchronization with the similarly automatonized eaters, and everything collapses when one of the customers pulls out...

CASH!!!

Give me a break, Visa!  Who wants that automatonized fast food, anyway?  Bleh!

Mother, please!  I'd rather cook it myself!!!

Forgot SLAPSHOT!  Thanks for the reminder of that Paul Newman movie, DR RODZINSKI.

Reading and posting during TAR.....good episode, again.!

Loving the Sherlock and Fletcher photos!

The Anatolian/Turkish curse of the evil eye....blue eyed people are most feared...they can GIVE the evil eye with the most power!  So Sherlock is only half in trouble there.

Joanne Woodward....well I think she was terrific in FROM THE TERRACE, and that's a LOT coming from me.

Don't forget the musical about the male nanny:  Murray Poppins.

DR TOMovOZ...thanks so much for the lovely Yule CD gift.  I had never heard the composer sing that song....and "Tell Me Who's the Girl" is probably Annette's loveliest wanting song....  And the original Disneyland record label was tremendous....NEVER saw it before!!!

DR FJL....Lover Come Back is FULL of those wonderful lines....

"Don't you have anything else?  Maybe one of those suits that was in style five or six years ago?"

"Of course.  Belle, bring out the suit we made for Ray-near's wedding."

"Oh, I don't know..."

"Prince or no Prince, he doesn't pick it up, he loses the suit."

It's a jolly holy day with Murray
