With all the holes in the walls in the living room and DS's bedroom and two walls missing in the bathroom, I might as well just pick paint colors for the whole house. And a new sofa, of course.

Good news there aren't anymore surprises.  I feel for you in all that mess.

For the last hour, I did put in MURDER BY DECREE and am enjoying seeing it again after a long time away from it. I had forgotten how many well known actors are in this cast.

It's an Anchor Bay release, but to their credit they did give it an anamorphic transfer, so it looks as good as it can. Always was kind of drab brown in design with occasional splashes of color. Still looks that way. The mono soundtrack is very strong.

Since MURDER BY DECREE is 124 minutes long, I'll still have over an hour of the film left to watch when I head back downstairs before this evening's prime time starts.

They are being very tidy, so no complaints there.

Back from a good lunch meeting.  I'd already decided that I had to fix something I wrote this morning, so I just rewrote that page - it had to do with where I'm setting the current chapter - one location felt forced and one felt real, but I thought I might get away with the forced one as it was a little more interesting visually.  So, that's what I wrote - but it felt forced - big surprise.  I went back and went with my first instinct.

Good Afternoon!

Tech is going well.  -I had forgotten that the esteemed Ken Billington is doing the lighting for the show.  Very cool watching his work in process.

Alas, due to a shift in the dinner break today, DR singdaw and I will not be able to meet today.  However, tomorrow is another day.

DR singdaw - I believe Mr. Newman's restaurant is now open.  That is if it called "The Dressing Room".  -Get it?  As in Newman's Own Salad Dressing.  I guess.

Heading down now to clean the bedroom areas before settling back in with Sherlock Holmes. The game's afoot!

...And while waiting for the bus on the corner of 125th and St. Nicholas Ave. this morning, a colleague of mine happened to come by.

-"Hey, we were just talking about you, and I was going to call you later..."

And since he also happened to be taking the bus to the Metro-North Station, we had some time to chat.   Well...  After our chat this morning, it looks like I may be up for two Broadway shows.  One new one.  And one continuing one.

-And the hits just keep on coming!

*Needless to say, I've been smiling from ear to ear ever since.  I'm not counting my chickens before they're hatched, but it is nice to know that my name is still in circulation - or back in circulation as it were.  And this morning just presented another set of "heady possibilities" to me - in a string of heady possibilities.  I swear, I'm either gonna get hired for all the potential jobs and have to decide among all the good, or I'm not gonna get hired for any of them.  Either way, I know I still have lots of day work lined up right now, so it's truly a win-win scenario.  :)

As for the Topic of the Day...

I had "sweetbreads" at Victoria & Albert's down in Disneyworld.  Pretty good.

Closer to home, Filipino cuisine is quite infamous for it's "chocolate pudding", dinuguan - which has no chocolate in it at all.  It's just very brown, almost to the point of being black.  It's basically composed of every part of the pig that people don't normally eat: tripe, ears, sometimes the feet.  And the blood - which, when cooked gives it its namesake color.

I've actually never had it.  Growing up, there were many times when I saw my parents making big pots of it for parties.  Unfortunately, the first step in the preparation was boiling the tripe for a few hours.  -Usually starting early in the morning.  Needless to say, the smell of tripe is not something pleasant to wake up to - and sometimes the smell was what would wake me up.

However...

I have had some "interesting" things in Vietnamese food - mainly in pho - triple, tendon, etc.

Oh - and I've always been a fan of beef liver and chicken livers.  However, chicken gizzards and chicken hearts... YUCK!!!!

And then there's balut... Which I believe DR Ron Pulliam knows about.  I shall leave it to him - or Google - to elucidate.

Have done six count them six pages, and just got past the moment where the all is revealed.  I got goosebumps writing one line in particular, and when that sort of thing happens (rare) I know something is working.

I shall now go post these packages, then come back and try to do one or two more pages.  That will put me very near to the end of this chapter, and then there are only two chapters left.  I've probably got another twenty-five to thirty pages to go.

Ah, yes.  Baluts.

Duck eggs, nearly ready to hatch, but not quite, are fermented until duckling and egg juices are soft (like a soft-boiled egg).

Considered a delicacy by some.

Vomit-inducing to me...and others.

DR RLP - I've located my Warlow Goose if you still would like a copy.

Colin and I were in Lancaster County in 1996.  We were not raising a barn.  We had been staying with friends who were then living in New York. (Scarsdale).
