My peanut butter needs preserves, not jelly.  And s'mores should only be made over a campfire.  Did the restaurant have a campfire?

No campfire.  But the "S'More" came to the table on one big plate.  Basically it was constructed as follows:

(from the bottom up)
2 Graham Crackers (side by side)
About 16 Marshmallows
2 Hershey's Chocolate Bars (side by side)
2 Graham Crackers (side by side)

And that was heated up into one gooey, rich, marshmallow-ey, chocolate-y plate of goodness!

Sort of like this:

Sometimes I wonder if DR Jose really is a pianist!

I'm sure he knows that the area where the Chef checks the plates before sending them to the dining room is called a... piano!!

Well, there was this dinner theatre I worked at once - and only once...  They would use the piano as part of the buffet, a large sideboard so to speak...

I opened the fallboard to find that someone had spilled beef gravy over half the keyboard.

-Would you like some dinner with your music?

Oh, but the piano thing in a kitchen is not a joke! It's "cooking slang" and the whole name is "piano de cuisine"! Mr Rossini knew about it, of course! Jose knows! He'll tell you!

Well, Rossini was known as quite the gourmand and gourmet if I recall correctly.

...And here's a recipe for Tournedos Rossini, as well a nice bit of info about Rossini's culinary tendencies.

Very funny THE OFFICE episode this evening.

Now watching THE TEN COMMANDMENTS on DVD - very lovely on my NEW tv.  Thanks for the suggestion, DR MATTH, but since I am getting HD cable tomorrow, I hope I won't need that extra cable....but we shall see.

The other night on the Food Network, we saw a restaurant in New York where they serve do-it-yourself S'mores.  It looked like there was a little hibachi in the middle of the table for toasting the marshmallows.  My observation was that they weren't putting near enough chocolate on the crackers.

Well this is true....but Charlton Heston is a swell pretender to the throne.

DR Singdaw, have you met any of our fine DRs in real life yet?

No, DR DearReaderLaura, but I'm hoping to meet DR JoseSPiano on his dinner break tomorrow night.  Do you think he's a good place to start?   :o

And what are the titles of the previous volumes? Available on Amazon?

I find this both funny and disgusting.

Gotta agree with Jane on this one. I think you also need a campfire or at least a fire in the fireplace to make them official

Good Evening!

Greetings from the beautiful(?) Westport Inn.

Can you say "Febreze"?

Whew! :-\

But it's a nice room, and the decor of the hotel is quite interesting.  It seems like they updated every decade or so without really get rid of the "old decade".  I stopped into the restaurant/lounge earlier just to check it out.. flocked wallpaper, plexiglass ceiling light fixtures, 70's mod patterned fabric on the chairs, etc... Truly eclectic.  Groovy.

-I decided to just veg out in my room tonight.  However, after tomorrow's "10 out of 12", I'm sure I'll partake of a cocktail or two.

Even with my nightly ice cream, I think I'm actually losing a little weight.  I'm eating a lot healthier, so I feel better. Wish it would get warm enough to start riding my bike.

I must admit I made the mistake of chatting with the judge's admin assistant today. She had these wonderful little chocolate eggs that were candy on the outside and solid chocolate on the inside.  Unfortunately I found them irresistible

Back from rehearsal and am now REALLY pooped.  We ran straight through, but Merissa was not feeling well suddenly.  Afterwards, I had a strong talk with her - she's never sick, just like Guy Haines is never sick EVER until he has to do an album.  Then he's sick.   So, I had to explain she's head-tripping herself because she's basically scared shitless.  I told her she had to go home tonight and get out of her own way, and that she's in safe, good hands, the show is very strong, she's a good singer and actress, and the audience will be there to have a good time.  She totally got it and will do what she needs to do.  I've known this about her for a few weeks now - lots of drama, but I told her she'll be much happier without it.  After the run, we began at the beginning, with specificity in movement, lyric, point, mood, and energy.  We'll continue that tomorrow at eleven, and then do a run.
