And the word of the day is: VIVIFY!Casey would waltz
DR MattH, HELP ME HELP YOU (that's the ABC show on after DANCING WITH THE STARS, right?) was not on last night. They went right to election coverage after DWTS.
My question for ASK BK DAY:
A lot of your TV work was done one-camera movie style, but you also did some shows that were three camera.
Were the three-camera shows shot in sequence? Did you film the show twice or were pick ups done afterwards....or were the pickups done at the time the scene was shot?
A question for Ask BK Day:
Do you feel vindicated about the 5.1 Dolby Digital soundtrack on the FLOWER DRUM SONG DVD after all those months of "experts" telling you it was only going to be a Dolby 2.0 stereo track?
My Question of the day:
What DVD have your purchased or recieved this year, blind...a movie or tv show you were totally unfamiliar with...that, after watching it, became one of your favorites.

Do you hear that? It's the sound of the telephone not ringing.
Advice - (which I seldom seek)
We own the THX Digitally Mastered DVD version of the King and I.
Will the just released version look any different?
Is the second disk of extras worth the money?

I plan on buying the new Carousel and DRUM.
I'm taking a pass on South Pacific-hateloathe those colored filters.

It depends on how much you care about image quality. The new DVD is spectacular-looking and derived from the original 55mm negative, which all earlier transfers were not. The extras are nice, too, but I don't really care about them. But the image and sound are major improvements.
Do you mean that the voices of Laura Bush and Bill Clinton won't be on my answering machine when I get home? They were yesterday!
President Bush will not flag in the pursuit of the war, and Senator Santorum is now available for a seat on the SCOTUS should one become available.
Really? I had a call from John Edwards ;)
Ah, there was a question I wanted to ask a few days ago, but now I've forgotten it.

"Sister Act" could well be a hit, but let's pray for more personality.

Hold off on the novenas for "Sister Act: The Musical." The show, which opened Friday at the Pasadena Playhouse, has Broadway blockbuster written all over it. But it's going to need a little divine intervention if it's to become more than just another generically manufactured hit.
...
The problem in a nutshell is this: "Sister Act: The Musical" can't figure out if it wants to be slightly louche like "Hairspray" or crowd-pleasing like "Beauty and the Beast." Original instincts keep getting diverted down clichéd pathways: Remedial plot points interrupt the high jinks as though we were a bunch of simpletons, and an energetic R&B score increasingly gives way to schmaltzy tunes that could elicit groans from even the most pickled piano bar regulars.

The mail moved fast DR JRand.
And sometimes the male moves fast too...if you are DR Jose! LOL!
The Democrats have taken the Senate seat in Montana leaving only the Virgnia Senate seat in doubt (with a Democrat leading)...and "control" of the Senate with it.
Two good news items:
Donald Rumsfeld has announced he will resign.
Rumsfeld ResignsEmbattled Defense Secretary Donald Rumsfeld resigned Wednesday to be replaced by Robert Gates, former director of the CIA, a day after Republicans lost control of the House
The way the sets are built for three cameras, it's constant side-to-side movement for the cameras, with walls swinging to open the new set. It's very clever, actually.
How interesting. Living in Indiana...well not many TV shows are filmed here...if any! 8)
CAN SOMEONE PLEASE HELP HER!

"Close To Home" is loaded with shots of Indianapolis - that darn statue is in my lving room nearly every week.

I don't know that show....but I bet it's about Indianapolis the way that dumb Bonnie Franklin show as about Indianapolis...NADA!! :P
...His county board of elections ::)
Somehow, I can't really imagine a show being ABOUT Indianapolis.
DR ELMORE watch your mailbox on Friday.

Well, in all fairness, it is not. But the exteriors shot there are used regularly and should please their C of C no end!

Doesn't LIFE BEGINS AT 17 take place in Indiana? Paints a pretty picture of the state, I think. Looks a lot like Columbia's back lot.
Do you mean "One Day At a Time"?

Ron-We haven’t had a chance to catch up with the cheerleader this week, maybe tonight. :)
Despite all those reassurances that DR MattH has plenty to keep him occupied IF those long-awaited, fretted-over DVDs don't arrive today, I am almost certain he will feel a tad "bereft"....
;D
I love the cheerleader, but the policeman and the politician are my FAVORITES!!
I always look up DR RLP.
Are you afraid a house will fall on you?
Exactly my feelings, DR JRand. Hiro comes third and the cheerleader fourth on the favorites list.
My favorite is politician's brother -- Peter Petrelli. After him is Hiro, then the policeman and the cheerleader...all three fairly close together. My least favorite is the politician (don't like bad guys and he's a bad'un!). I'm still on the fence about Niki.
Don't say you weren't WARNED! (http://home.valornet.com/sabruf2/countchr.html)
DR derBrucer, that previous KING AND I was not an anamorphic transfer, and since I know you have a widescreen display, the new KING & I will have much better resolution than the previous DVD on your TV.

DRJANE did you find your card?

The Democrats are now the majority in the Senate, too!
VERONICA MARS had the most entertaining episode of the season thus far in my estimation. Veronica was trying to prove her innocence after being accused of plagerizing a term paper, and her investigation led into all kinds of fascinating revelations. The Keith storyline was also full of surprises.
This is a GREAT show!
In fact, in answer to DR MBarnum's earlier question, it isn't a film, of course, but this is the show that I started watching blind after its first season was over (during a series of CBS summer reruns), and now it's one of my absolute favorite shows.
I like the policeman best & then the politician’s brother. I wasn’t too keen on Hiro at first, each week I enjoy him more, moving him into third place.
I have been off catching up... whata nice basket you made up Ginny! I am sure somebody was very pleased to receive it
Ditto. My faves are in the same order and I'm totally on the fence about Niki. Although that whole family intrigues me- especially after the last episode.
Discussion about last night's VERONICA MARS.
I agree. I think this was a really good episode. Were you in total shock when keith had his accident. I was totally stunned.

ASK BK ?
I see that the York Theater is doing the revival of Busker Alley directed by your pal Tony Walton and starring Jim Dale. Any chance you might record it? (You've already recorded the title song elsewhere.)
Thanks, DR Vixmom! It was a fun project.Every year we put together a Thanksgiving basket and a Christams basket for a local church. It is fun planning and buying and decorating it.
Mr. Barnum, have you ever considered interviewing Eddie Hodges? I know he is still pretty young for you, but I would love to read a good interview with him.You have high hopes that he will knock on your door and you two will become mug mates? Or is he just a bandit of your dreams?
Question for Ask BK Day - I'm confused by the actions of some other theater-related record labels to delay releases of CD's. Surely there is some business reason for doing so, but I can't figure it out - unless maybe the delay creates some sort of demand for the CD that results in extra sales once the CD is finally released? Otherwise, why does it take so long for these otehr labels? Do you have any thoughts on this?

Oh -- and welcome to Singingnymph. I was traveling when you first posted. Thanks! I think I've made myself at home. :)
