And I am not sure, but I may have Monkey's cousin Duckie living at my house. He was a gift from the former across the street neighbors daughter when they moved. Duckie has been sitting on a shelf all these months and I never noticed...but they share the same rope like arms and legs.

Perhaps Monkey's father got around.

Just how many times "once removed" would that be then?

Possible DVR Alert - Both "Lost" and "Damages" seem to be running over a minute or two tonight.  Adjust your setting accordingly.

Has it been confirmed - or denied(?) - if the rebroadcast of last week's "Lost" will include pop-ups?

I'm just assuming that since last week's had the pop-ups that this week does too.

Yep LOST is scheduled to go 2 minutes over. And TOP CHEF is from 10pm - 11:30pm!

Arrrgh!

I just received at my desk a copy of TO BROADWAY WITH LOVE, one of the latest DRG re-releases.  This was a revue that ran at the '64 Worlds Fair and had some new songs by Jerry Bock and Sheldon Harnick.  I'm arrrrghing because when I popped the cd into my pc to import the songs into my iPod, I found that none of the nine tracks are encoded with info.  No song titles, no artists, not even the cd title!  What's more, there's no official track info on the cover or in the booklet.  There's a listing of songs at the beginning of the booklet that are paired into nine groups--hopefully I can use this as the info that I will have to type in myself.

Once again, Arrrrgh!

The Songs
1.      To Broadway with love
2.     Old Folks at Home (Swanee River)
3.     Dixie
4.     Yankee Doodle boy
5.     Mary's a grand old name
6.     Every day is ladies' day with me
7.     The 88 rag
8.     Till the clouds roll by
9.     Over there
10.     Three wonderful letters from home
11.     Would you rather be a colonel
12.     Rose of Washington Square
13.     Beautiful lady
14.     Another op'nin', another show
15.     There's no business like show business
16.     Carousel waltz
17.     Speak low
18.     Buckle down, Winsocki
19.     Bali Ha'i
20.     I still get jelous
21.     F.D.R. Jones
22.     Mata Hari mine
23.     Remember radio
24.     Popsicles in Paris

The Singers
Carmen Alvarez
Kelly Brown
Miriam Burton
Bob Carroll
Ted Forlow
Reby Howells
Patti Karr
Nancy Leighton
Don Liberto
Rod Perry
Guy Rotondo
Millie Slavin

Happy Birthday Jackson Pollock!

Create your own Pollock by clicking here!

(though I prefer creating mine by rolling around naked on a 12' by 24' canvas.

Jackson rented from my Uncle Charlie for years.  At Charlie's funeral somebody told a hilarious anecdote--Jackson had been down on his luck and was unable to pay rent, which was never really a problem for Charlie (he carried scores of actors, artists and musicians through his life until they got on their artistic feet).  Anyhoo, Charlie asked Jackson out to a bar where they both got royally p****ed, with Jackson going back to his studio (it was unclear if that was in the apartment or not) and throwing paint all over a canvas on the floor, thus starting one of the seminal artistic movements of the mid-20th century.  :)  They repeated that story in the little bio of Charlie that was published when his Foundation was started.

Great story!!

DR Jane, re: the Ott Light. I don't know if they make them to clip onto books. But i have seen ones that you clip on to the side of your bed!

Why don't you just read in another room if keith is in bed?

Because I read until I fall asleep, be it 2 minutes or 5 hours.  Sometimes I read, fall asleep, wake up, read, fall asleep, etc, etc.

The "etc, etc." is a lot more fun than reading ;)

Uh-oh!  We might have to break out the sedatives around here--the U.S. Postal Service has announced the very real possibility of cutting mail delivery to just five days a week.

Well, if it saves some money, it's a good idea; most business would not be inconvenienced and regular folks can just pretend it's frontier days. (However, I would need to see a study to evaluate whether or not the weekend pile-up would create a Monday delivery problem.)

I've been expecting it to happen.  I prefer it not to even though Saturday mail is often light.  If they do drop delivery I hope they will continue to collect mail & send it on its way.

DR td your new carpets look very nice.  Miss Dixie Bell looks very pretty against the green.  Do I detect white specs in the green carpet to hike blend in with her hair?

I've now added the photo titles; that's a Whale Blue carpet Miss Dixie is on. . .she was very good with the carpet men; though once they started pounding and making noises, she went and sat outside in the rain, then in the snow, she's quite tired right now.

Mum and I are happy with our choices.  It's been about 25 years since we've had new carpeting of this magnitude.

From what I heard on the radio, it wasn't a "possible" wrong way driver, it WAS a wrong way driver.

Back from a really productive working lunch with Adryan Russ.  Went to Hugo's in the City of Studio and I'm happy to say that Pasta Papa's pasta once again contains gluten - apparently they had so many complaints they put it back the way it wuz.

The blue is also pretty, even if it looks green in some of the photos.  Checking out the wall color the blue works better than the green :)
