Cake? Cake? I need cake! That's the one thing I missed on my birthday. My dear friend Hal made me a couple of hummers, but no cake. Hmmm. I got some cake mixes in my pantry. Might have to see about that later this week.

Oh....ever since DRPANNI mentioned the movie SMALL CHANGE, it has been on my mind....

So many wonderful sequences, but the baby falling from the second or third floor is still my favorite....what a torrent of emotions....and what a release!

And second things second.

Gee, there are so many movie and theatre lines Joe and I quote around the house, and now most of them escape me.

"Oh my God!"  (Kate Capshaw in Indiana Jones and the Temple of Doom, right before Jones cuts the rope bridge.

"No!  Your other left!" (Same movie.)

And can anyone in an English-speaking country say "I'll be back" without affecting an Austrian accent?  I sure can't.

"Take cover, Arizona!"  (Pump Up the Volume)  And thereby hangs a tale.  Joe and I are always saying "If I ever meet ________, I'm going to say _______, just to see his/her reaction."  Well, we passed Christian Slater on 7th Avenue, and he was well out of sight before we realized we had missed our chance on this line!

"What has it got in its pocketses?" -- oops, that's from a book and doesn't count.

Welcome back WFO!

Welcome back Ben!

WE have missed both of you!!

My favorite line from a film is from BEYOND THE VALLEY OF THE DOLLS:

The line is something like: It's my scene man, and it's really freakin me out!" or something like that.

You would think if it was my favorite line that I would remember it!

My dear friend Hal made me a couple of hummers...

Where I come from, DR MattH, hummers have a somewhat saltier connotation.

Third things third.

My long absence from these here pages has been caused by a summer busy, busy, busy, but getting nothing whatsoever done.  All the running you can do, as the Red Queen would say.  I shall report on some of the more interesting details in days to come.

I've missed a couple of months worth of posts, so I have absolutely no idea what has been going on in all of your lives--except Bruce's, because I have lurkingly kept up on his notes, his revue, and his various and assorted plumbing nightmares.  Our house is only five years old, and we've had our share of same--this summer the Central Air conked out and spewed water all over the basement--again!  So I can truly sympathise.  Yes, and when the super of my apartment in Hempstead years ago kept putting off fixing my toilet, I would arise early and run up the the hotel three blocks away to use their men's room for two weeks running.  (Pun intended.)

Anyway, school has started, and I'm here again and thankful that the chat software has not demoted me to newbie in my absence.

DR Noel:

I for one hate, hate, hate lyrics in all caps.  Especially when the punctuation is missing.  They look like newspaper headlines, not speech.  I prefer to indent and/or use a slighly different font.  Or even include the occasionsal "[spoken]" and "[sung]" when dialogue is intermixed.

The ones I was served were sweet combinations of what tasted like chocolate ice cream and some different liqueurs, possibly Baileys' and maybe a chocolate liqueur.

I think it might help.....if you have posted photos and still have them on your hard drive....delete them from your hard drive then they will show up as red x's in the notes but since they won't be there, the space is now open to be used for other photos.  Anyway, that is what I do.

I don't think that that's how it works.  From what I remember, when you upload a picture, it is added to the hard drive(s) of the company that is hosting HHW and THAT is what is filled up.  The administrator has to delete them from the server...or something like that.

Okay DRGEORGE thanks....I wasn't sure.  So once it is on HHW, I can delete it from my hard drive and it will still be here on HHW?

A favorite movie line of mine, from Mommie Dearest, which contains a plethora of wonderfully quotable bits of dialogue:

"Don't %&@# with me, fellas."

Ah, DR Jay, Mommy Dearest!  A dear friend of mine was left a house and some precious artwork by an Aunt in her will.  His cousins meanly fought the will for years, but he finally received his inheritance, just as he was diagnosed with cancer.  (In his thirties, alas!)

In his will he parceled out his car, his clothes, his stereo, etc to friends, the art work to my Joe, and to his cousins he left "nothing whatsoever, for reasons best known to them."  I doubt they got the movie reference.

One of my favorite lines (it's actually two) is from Sunset Boulevard:

JOE GILLIS: You used to be in pictures. You used to be big.

NORMA DESMOND: I am big. It's the pictures that got small.

Well, the comedy continues in the City of Studio.  Despite my being told that all these people would be converging no one has converged.  Now I'm being told that the only person coming is the tile man to give an estimate to re-tile the bathroom that has been ripped to shreds.  Fifteen minutes ago I was told he was knocking at my door.  He was not knocking at my door.  Heaven knows whose doore he was knocking at or what block he was on but it wasn't mine.  So, who knows when he will get here.

DR Jrand, have you tried www.photobucket.com ?  You just need to registar, upload pics to your "photo album", then copy and past the img link in your posts here.  It's amazing how much space they allow.  I've yet to have to delete any of the pics I've uploaded there.
