GOOD INTENTIONS
« on: April 19, 2009, 12:17:21 AM »

Well, you've read the notes, the notes had good intentions, and now it is time for you to post until the cows come home - they've got good intentions but aren't coming home any time soon.

Me, too.  Fortunately (for us working concessions), there wasn't a big house.  We were told that about 425 tickets were pre-sold, but after the show started, they counted the ticket stubs for the people who actually came and there were only 340 stubs.

BK should take the day off from the long jog, it's better for the body's well being.  It needs a rest as much as the mind does.

This afternoon we are going to a movie theatre to see The Audition.

I think DR George has already mentioned this documentary.

Comcast is still having problems in my area and several stations are "Available Shortly" including ABC-HD.  Most distressing.  I now have contacted them TWICE and they say they are "aware of the problem" and they are "working to resolve it" - at least that's what the Indian women have typed in the LIVE communication to me.

DR TCB asked where Sean McDermott did South Pacific.

Here is the answer

The recording of South Pacific is actually a studio recording (1996). It is a 2cd release with all the songs, (including reprises) incidental music and entr'acte and exit music.

The main performers on the cd are people who played the role somewhere.

Paige O'Hara (Nellie) did the show in Australia.
Justino Diaz (Emile) FCM's production in San Juan, Puerto Rico.
Sean McDermott (Joe) Pace Organization Tour

other people on the recording

Pat Suziki (Bloody Mary on the US release) Long Beach Light Opera
Shezwae Powell (Bloody Mary on the UK release)
Brian Greene (Luthur)

Ron Raines (Harbison) (in a non-singing role!)
Caroline O'Connor (Murphy-nurse)
Nicholas Colicos (Wise-Seabee)
Simon Green-(Hayes-Sailor)

Good morning, all! This afternoon I am attending a graduate recital by my friend Jesse Cromer at Manhattan School of Music. Before I go, I shall work a bit on my notes for BABES, send a few emails and select something to read on the bus. I hope that while I'm there I can pick up a ticket to the school's production of DIE FLEDERMAUS. Jason Graae is appearing in the role of Frosch as a guest artist, which means I won't hear him sing the Laughing Song.

When I'm back, work on Frank Loesser's score. That's my day.

For those DRs who were following the propaganda of the anti same-sex marriage propaganda "Gathering Storm" spot...

DR Michael S et al - Sean McDermott also appeared as Lt. Cable in a tour of South Pacific that was directed by Geraldine Fitzgerald.  He also played Cable in an "experimental" production of South Pacific a couple of years ago at that the Dallas Theater Center.  I remember it getting a brief write-up in "American Theatre".

*Here's an "interesting" review from The Dallas Observer.  -There's a great "comment" about Sean. In an undershirt. ;)

DR elmore - I believe one of my fellow-accompanist friends is playing for Jesse Cromer's recital.

*And since you'll be in the neighborhood, be sure to wave at The Allendale. (A "Mozart in the Jungle" reference. ;))
