It's a very pleasantly pleasant day here in the City of Studio.

Yes, we noticed he wasn't around, but he always came back!

But why would François delete his profile.  I assume that he's the only one, other than BK, who can do it.

I wonder if I shall watch a motion picture today, or if I shall just wile or while or wyle away the hours.

Perhaps I'll go see if I have any mail at the mail place - last chance for mail in 2007.

My favourite thing that happened to me this year was getting back into theatre full force.  Though I actually returned to the boards in fall of 2006 in THE UNDERPANTS (my performance referred to as "impeccable").  February and March found me playing Orgon in TARTUFFE which I had also translated and adapted.  Both performance and writing were praised ("Charles Edward Pogue is nothing short of brilliant"..."A first-rate adaptation...Pogue's language sparkles with color and is ripe with clever crispness, making versatile leaps from theological discourse to the basest of double entendres...").  This fall I received accolades for my "robustly flawed" Claudius in HAMLET.  This January issue of AMERICAN THEATRE will feature an article about the production with a photo of me and Hamlet in the prayer scene.

Julieanne is currently in rehearsals for David Mamet's BOSTON MARRIAGE.  And I will be playing Ben Hecht in this spring's production of MOONLIGHT AND MAGNOLIAS, an account of David Sleznick locking Hecht and Victor Fleming in his office for a week while they re-wrote GONE WITH THE WIND.  My TARTUFFE will be done this summer in San Francisco by the African-American Shakespeare Company.

Tonight Julieanne and I will have our usual quiet New Year's Eve, just us and the pets snuggled together with a bottle of Procescco (which I prefer to champagne), watching all these award screeners of the latest fillms we've amassed.

HAPPY NEW YEAR ONE & ALL!

I saw the cast album of YOUNG FRANKENSTEIN at Best Buy when I was there. I had it in my hands, but put it back. I thought I could do better price-wise, and I'm not desperate to hear it frankly. Maybe later.

This may come as a New Year's Eve shock, but I didn't watch ANYTHING this afternoon!

Yep, you heard it right, DRs, I wasn't home to watch a thing, and my friend John didn't have the TV on at his house either as we did various errands around the neighborhood (I did a quick calibration of a neighbor's TV), and then went to eat lunch.

Our first shopping place was Target where I had a gift card to spend (he had some full frame DVDs to return and exchange for widescreen versions). It was crowded (so was every other place we went this afternoon.)

Next was a quick walk-through of CompUSA which is going out of business nationwide. Everything was still just 10-15% off (not enough), but I really didn't need anything anyway. Just wandering the ailes (probably for the last time) bringing back memories of many shopping trips there through the years.

Next, we stopped by Office Depot to pick up some things for John's office that had been preordered, so we really did no real shopping there. In and out quickly.

I ordered the Young Frankestein cast album last night.  I was in a buying mood. ;) I actually ordered six different recordings last night.  Except for YF and Dream True, the rest were from Amazon Marketplace sellers and cost a LOT less than from Amazon directly. :D

We ended the afternoon of shopping at Best Buy where I had a couple of gift cards. Used one up and spent about half of the other, but got some good deals. I still have what's left on that card and another one for Best Buy.

I did get THE NAKED PREY in the mail today, so I'll be watching it tonight (for the first time). That should be an interesting evening of viewing.

I assume AS THE WORLD TURNS was on today, but I won't find out for sure until I go back downstairs later and check about that Jerry Herman PBS special.

No mail at the mail place.  They admitted that the post office from whence it comes closed at noon and they didn't get it in time.  Hopefully errant and truant packages will arrive with the New Year.

Of course, I bought the PAL, region 2 DVD from England last month...and there is no bonus material, but I didn't have to wait so long to re-watch the show. :)

DR FJL - What time did they "lock down" Times Square today?  My friend, Michael, lives right at the corner of 52nd and 8th, and they had already brought down the barricade cement blocks(!) a few weeks ago.

the tremor you felt was me hitting the floor!

I'm trying to decide what to watch tonight: Kathy Griffin, Strauss' opera SALOME with Teresa Stratas, or the Royal Ballet performing NUTCRACKER or SYLVIA.  Hmmm . . .
