Re Jay and Dan: From my understanding from both the gentlemen in question, no-one wrote to them and kvetched!

Very, very true.  Jay mostly became very involved in other activities.  It happens.

"How pale the moon is, like a woman rising from a tomb"
"Your mouth is like a scarlet sash on an ivory tower"
"Your mouth is like a pomegranate sliced by a silver blade"

Much as I love THE IMPORTANCE OF BEING EARNEST, Oscar Wilde's decadent purple prose in SALOME, in English or in German, is an ordeal. Teresa Stratas is beautiful, petite, in an amazing performance, running from innocent virgin to coked-out ho in a ridiculous "Dance of the Seven Veils" and 90 minutes of the most overripe dialogue written by man. When she finally goes bonkers and the music goes bitonal, she looks like Vivien Leigh trying to get out of TOVARICH and then they kill her. The opera also includes a hot young soldier in love with Salome who kills himself for her, the page boy who loves him, Salome's evil mother who looks more butch than the soldier and her pedophilic stepfather Herod.  Jokanaan aka John the Baptist looks like Sasquatch and Salome slobbers all over him.  It was like a family reunion on God's Little Acre.  I think it's time for some Offenbach now, perhaps LA PERICHOLE from Aix-en-Provence.

Me too.

And former founding Rabbi of a temple here in Ashland.

His authority just evaporated for me when DiT told me his real name was Lenny.  ;)

It was from your second appearance on Happy Days February 15, 1975
The Howdy Doody Show where you played Mark the editor of the school newspaper. You played a worthy adversary to Richie Cunningham. Too bad they never brought you back.

Great still with Bruce and Ron Howard!

I am on a snark hunt for an old Paul Mauriat album I know I had which I am positive had both "Je T'aime...moi non plus" and "Sweet Charity" on it, but internet searching has been futile.  Yes, I am using my first free day in two months wisely.  ;)

T.O.D.

Hmm, well, health-wise, this hasn't been a great year.  Come to think of it, health-wise, none of my years have been very good lately.

Best moment of the year was seeing PHANTOM in Las Vegas, and then going backstage to talk to Brent Barrett.  That man is beautiful!  It may not sound right to say that, but let me tell you, when that man smiles at you - He Is Beautiful!!!  Also, getting the poster back in the mail from Brent signed by everyone in the cast was also great.

I wanted to keep all of the e-mails Brent sent me, but since DR elmore had already warned him that I was a stalker, I thought it best to destroy the evidence!

Looking back over the rest of the year, I think most of my memorable moments were spent right here, with all of you.  Thank you.

We are back from seeing Charlie Wilson's War and we've had our carry-in Chinese dinner.  The movie was very well done and provoked much dinner conversation.  Saw many friends at the local movie theater.

Julieanne and I just had a lovely dinner and some sparkling wine and now we're taking a brief nap before we get to our movie-watching.  I think we're about a year away from an Old Fogey's New Year...which is basically having a cup of warm cocoa, a slice of buttered toast, and going to bed at eight-thirty, finding a comfy warm bed more welcoming than watching the ball drop at midnight.

Julieanne says hi and we miss you B.K.

Question for the NYC HHWers...

Have any of you ever gone to Times Sqaure to ring in the New Year?

We're not New Yorkers, but 25 years ago tonight DH Richard and I were on the northern fringes of Times Square in front of our hotel at 7th Ave. and 51st.  Looking south, we could see the ball drop, but were not in the huge crush of people (fine with us).  Looking north, we enjoyed the fireworks display over Central Park.

Well, I certainly made that post sound strange.  Actually they brought up Mr. O'Herlihy in connection to the film FAIL SAFE, which had been talked about by BK.
