DR Jose - is that a cream cheese filling in the pumpkin moon pie?  It looks so good!

DR Jennifer - Pumpkin Pie! YES!! -Were they giving out samples at CostCo so that you could try it, taste it?  -Have you ever had Pumpkin Bread? or, since they seem to be everywhere now, a Pumpkin Whoopie Pie?

No they were not giving samples of pumpkin pie. They were giving samples of apple sugar pie.  I don't think i've ever had pumpkin bread. AndI know I have not heard of pumpkin whoopie pie.

This is a Pumpkin Whoopie Pie:

-From the Street Sweets Truck.

Which reminds me, they also gave out mini moon pies at the parade. But the festival food was way below par compared to Jose's day; standard funnel cake corn dog land.

I believe they make a cream cheese buttercream frosting for their pumpkin whoopie pies. -I'll see them later this week, and I can ask them to confirm. ;)

BK, how odd I just picked up a BRIDGE TOO FAR on DVD.  I've never seen it, despite the fact that William Goldman is one of my favourite writers.  Been meaning to stick it into the DVD player the last few days.

It has been years since I have seen the movie, but if I remember correctly, it does go on and on.

I like A BRIDGE TOO FAR.

SPOILER:

The only problem with it is that it's factually correct in that the Germans win.

Our local convenience store sells broken moon pies at half price. They have a sign on them saying "In Eclipse".

That's Spike from Top Chef, I think. I thought it was Curtis for a second but he's in LA.

DR Edisaurus, what exactly are soldier bugs?

http://organicgardensite.com/bugs-beneficial/soldier-bugs/

Oh, Ok, I think I have seen those bugs before back when I lived in Medford.

They make a horrible buzzing noise when they fly, but at least it makes you aware that they're in the vicinity. I think I might have gotten the last one out for the night. At least they don't make it into the bedroom; I would get NO sleep then!

I just found out that JEWS AND BASEBALL will be at the Virginia Film Festival! I used to live in Charlottesville and go back to attend the festival sometimes, but this is the same weekend I'm taking my mom and her other half to NY for our theatrical opening. Dang it, wish we could do both!

Suggestion for BK:

When you announce a new CD or whatever, please (aside from the price) list the exact amount for shipping.  Better still, the TOTAL amount.

Some of us older folk (ME) have trouble remembering the exact amount we're supposed to send you via PayPal.

Thanks.

Have you ever had Zucchini Bread? Carrot Cake? or even Banana Bread? -Pumpkin Bread is basically the same as those, just made with pumpkin instead. ;)

I just made some rhubarb sauce and am doing laundry

Hmmmm... Rhubarb!

When we lived in Connecticut, my Mom grew rhubarb in our backyard. -And a few months ago, I discovered the joys of early-season rhubarb - sweeter and less fibrous.  Perfect for all-rhubarb pies and tarts - no strawberries needed.

Would one of our DRs with a large classical music collection recommend a CD of Pachelbel's Canon? Mine is in storage and I see quite a few recordings to choose from. Larry? Jose? Anyone?

There are a couple of CDs out there that have multiple versions of Pachelbel's "Canon" played by various ensembles. I'm partial to the a cappella one on THIS DISC. ;)

I have made very good progress today in unpacking boxes. Went through boxes of old magazines....Classic Images, Films of the Golden Age, Scarlet Street, Film Fax, Playgirl, Video Watchdog, Autograph Times, Movie Collectors World, and others.

I can just imagine the scene at the Humane Society:

"Mommy? What is that kitty cat...?"

-We're leaving right this minute!
