$2.5 million and the taxpayers of Phoenix.

My UPS haul was better than I'd hoped:  Frasier, Season 10; Lost, Season 3; all three Disney tins; The Bourne Ultimatum; and the Harry Potter box in HD DVD.

I am watching "Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix" right now (okay, it's on pause, but only til I'm done here).  It looks amazing.  Astounding.  Unbelievably sharp and deep.  Wonderful

(I'm not all that chuffed about the packaging which seems not to have "worked" as well as the original designers hoped.  It seems a bit slapdash...all they could stuff in there and then "fix into place" with a molded plastic form...once the form is removed, everything comes spilling out.  Oh, well.)

So I have some "merry" to see me through the night and tomorrow pre-flight.

Other desserts ordered were:

DH Richard - The Grand Trifle
DS Rob - Bananas Foster
Gram (my mother) - Eggnog Cheesecake - she took enough home to last her the rest of the week

TCB-I hope that never happens to you again!  Are you sure you weren’t dehydrated or your sugar levels out of whack?  I’m trying to think of simple & easy to fix scenarios.

I saw my boss, who spent the weekend in Beverly Hills at an annual holiday weekend party a friend of hers hostesses.  My boss has gone down every year at this time since I started working here in 1994.

She said things were fine.  She made special note of the drive down Rodeo Drive where they put out Swarovski chandeliers as decor down the street for the season.

Overheard at one of the dinners:  "If that bastard thinks I'm paying a penny more than $25 million for that property...he's got another think coming"!"  She always marvels at how different her friend's world is from her own.

I guess we all get a taste of that here.  We all live decidedly different -- differently motivated and differently inspired...lives, and yet we come together anyway.

What we need is a picture of some floating pie in the sky.  That's what we need.

I'm off to my sister's.  I bought "Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix" (widescreen, regular DVD) at Costco today and we'll watch a bit of it on my sister's widescreen TV.  I almost bought the HD-DVD because it's double-sided and has the regular DVD on the backside, but the bonus material is only on the HD-DVD side.  But it wasn't much more expensive, so maybe I'll take back what I got and get the HD-DVD.  I'll decide when I get in my car. ;)

The thing I dislike about the Internet is that it has changed people's expectations for response time.  Often I'll get an email at work from an anxious customer.  It may take research, but if I haven't responded within 20 minute, they're often then calling me to find out why I haven't answered yet.

Sing, maybe you could answer them more quickly if you didn't include a cute little graphic with every email.   ;)

I know that it isn't Wednesday, but what is graylisted?

I'm sure there's an answer out there as good as the DDD discount code from the other night..

Happy you got all those treasure before you go away for the holidays, DR Ron. Why don't you take one of those DVD sets home to SC with you? Surely you'd have a spare moment to watch something during the time you're there.

I spent most of the evning watching all of the bonus features on the TWO-LANE BLACKTOP DVD. The entire second disc is all special features. There are a series of interviews all filmed/directed by the director of TWO-LANE BLACKTOP, Monte Hellman. He has a nice conversation with James Taylor (who starred in the film, his only movie role). A too lengthy interview with Kris Kristofferson (whose "Me and Bobby McGee" is kind of the film's anthem). There's also a section that features the screen tests for James Taylor and Laurie Bird (who played the underaged wayward girl in the movie). Bird is fearless in looking at the camera and answering questions. Taylor is shyness personified, barely able to lift his eyes up to the camera and then darting them away quickly.

Yes, Jane. Permanently floating art.
Permanent in the sense that the materail used for the netting willl only last for about 10 years.  I guess 10 years is as permanent as anything is these days!

I did begin watching the Great Performances bio on PBS on Rudolph Nuryev, but I set the DVR to begin recording it once BOSTON LEGAL came on.
