And the word of the day is: HOYDEN!
By MARCUS KABEL, AP
JOPLIN, Mo. (Oct. 10) - Fascinated by the Columbine bloodbath, a 13-year-old boy in a dark green trenchcoat and mask carried an assault rifle into his school Monday, pointed it at students and fired a shot into a ceiling before the weapon jammed, authorities said. No one was hurt.
…
Officers arrested the teen behind a nearby building. Police described his weapon as a Mac-90, a replica of an AK-47 assault rifle.
…
Jones said the gun belonged to the boy's parents, who kept the weapon in a safe at home. The parents told police their son apparently knew the combination to the gun safe. Farmer said it is not uncommon for people in the area to own assault weapons.
I'm off to bed. Good night, Der Brucer. 8)

Note: a certain DR sure has a good press agent! On IMDB under the lisiting for "political" movies, "INETRNATIONALE" is listed second!
Bowling for Columbine
It is? I didn't know that! Well, I have to say that it's one of my favorites, too!

And back to the books for me -- today we have three - count'em - three tests...
Break a leg---errrr---a slide rule, or whatever you co-eds break!
I like GOOD NIGHT & GOOD LUCK, but the documentary POINT OF ORDER is so well put together, that I favor it of the two.
Must....find....Point of Order....
And Aventerera! LOL....
An HBO political film I think was very well done was CITIZEN COHN, a gripping docudrama with James Woods as the scheming, egotistical Roy Cohn.
And the word of the day is: HOYDEN!Casey would waltz
I bought this is a cut-out bin but haven't watched it yet. Good to know I didn't waste my $!
And now I'm off to start making preparations for lunch.I could use a good recipe for preparations. Can you use leftovers?
WBBL.
Edisaurus, don't you worry about der Brucer - like many of us, he is occasionally a curmudgeon extraordinaire.
I like der Brucer, (although we obviously have vastly different political leanings!) and to placate him, I have even taken "Bowling for Columbine" off my list. Now may I play my cross hands piece?...Here's an idea for a movie marque double bill:

Edisaurus, glad you're enjoying it and read on, MacDuff! And, of course, when you're through, do write a review at amazon :-)
Are we there yet?
We may have snow flurries tomorrow...
Yes, DR MATTH is correct - CITIZEN COHN is a good HBO flick. Woods is amazing as Cohn - though of course, it helps itf you've read the book.
No posts in over an hour - everyone must be reading a BOOK!
Drat. By the time I catch up on posts I'm almost to my stop.
Have a good evening all!
I called the cable company and I'm getting the cable put into my new place TOMORROW between 8 a.m. and noon! It's happening tomorrow!! AND VERY EARLY IN THE MORNING!! :P
I gave The First Nudie Musical a ten
Congratulations, DR George, on being "cable ready"!
("Cable ready" also describes some of the films I've worked on...)
Thanks! And I'm springing for digital cable, too! We'll see if I actually watch all those channels. ::)
Is this not a good thing??
;)
I have Comcast digital, and it's well worth it. I don't watch much TV and the digital system makes it easy for me to quickly scan and assess my options, plus there's "On Demand" which is a great feature for those of us who don't have Tivo. You can get Bollywood films on demand, plus short films from Something Weird video, which has great stuff...school scare films, etc. Enjoy
Can I get that with Direct TV?
Bachke Rehna Re Baba.
Michael S - Lovely pictures of my hometown. What were your impressions of Hungary? The people? The food? Etc....
Snow???? Yikes! Isn't it early for snow?
I think Rheoritca would have had a much bigger career if she had gotten the role of Anita in WSS instead of Moreno....she certainly could dance as well.
Congrats george on being cable ready!
Dont have cable here... Too expensive
I just looked at the contents of the new CHORUS LINE cast album, and the song "And" isn't there! Left out again! I have to say that singing this song was one of my favorite parts of A CHORUS LINE. I know it's a small song, and it gets interrupted during the course of the Bobby section of the show, but this is a biter, bitter disappointment.
I've been told the entire montage sequence is there with all of the character's songs/monologues, but without "And," I'm not sure I want it. I can always watch my videos of the CHROUS LINEs that I was a part of.
No, you can't download from iTunes - you have to download from Rhapsody, which I understand is a pain in the butt cheeks. People are not happy about Sony's inane money-grubbing decision, since the CD is only about fifty-five minutes long. And, from what I understand, there are still cuts to the montage.
