I enjoyed the Manhattan Transfer video that DR George referenced last night. Very clever, indeed.

Glad to hear that Mr BK is back to normal--"his" normal, anyway. He'd be far less interesting if he were actually normal.

I'm up - I can't believe I slept almost till noon - I must have really needed it, and I'd still be sleeping if the telephonic device hadn't rung.

Good thing it rang then. :)

Keith took us (sherlock & me) to the hiking trails this afternoon.  I still can't drive myself there.  As we were walking out there was thunder but no rain, yet.

What's the Henny Youngman (?) line:  That's OK, I had to get up to answer the phone anyway.

JRand, wonderful photo of the spiderweb. I suggest you post it again late tonight so Vixmom will be sure to see it.

I have returned from my meeting with DJ, the director of the Appalachian piece, and our E&T DR Julie, who sends hellos and good wishes. We wanted to talk to her about her reaction to the Christmas piece, and it was a lovely social event.

I'm having some Chinese food and then I'll go back to THE DUCHESS OF DUKE STREET for a bit. I've got to be up early for the NYU Dental Clinic.

I'm calling them tomorrow morning to set up my first appointment. I haven't been to a dentist in 6 years and I need to go.

DR TCB - do you mean the shiny coat with the fur collar that Barbara wore when she confessed her infidelity to her husband, or the cloth coat that she wore in the lifeboat?

I can only find one hat in the auction from TITANIC.....it's the feathered hat that Barbara wears in her first scene  on the tender going out to the ship.  There are no other items from the movie, although the index lists pages 303, 304, under its title, those pages are full of silent movie posters.  :-\

If you want to see what we are dealing with and the situation we've been facing for the past 10 days to 2 weeks you can see it all at www.siouxcityjournal.com

Didn't Rodgers and Hammerstein write that song;

So, BK:

I just watched BIG JAKE with John Wayne.

Hadn't seen it in many years.

It's not one of his best, but it is definitely an entertaining western.

I know that George Sherman did not want to use Patrick Wayne and Chris Mitchum as the 2 sons in the film, but Wayne insisted on it.

I read the script before they went on location to Mexico.  The working title then was THE MILLION DOLLAR KIDNAPPING.

I was going to make a lame joke about that being the J. Paul Getty, III life story, but since the man just passed away a few months ago, I will resist.

Don't I know it, Laura.  You are far too sharp and clever to be a social worker.

Cave of Forgotten Dreams was just wonderful, but I hated the 3D. The glasses were heavy and gave me a headache, plus they stank of whatever cleaning spray had been used on them. But the beauty of the cave paintings was so overwhelming and Herzog's sense of the bizarre so overripe that I just sat back and enjoyed myself as much as I could.

I am afraid  I won't be able to tackle a posting frenzy this evening..  I need to head to bed pretty quickly. If I have any hope of working 5 days in a row, I will need plenty of rest.

I hope not, John G., I wouldn't wish this on anyone, even elmore's brother and sister-in-law (The Macbeths).
