DR JOSE

You made a list of foods from the Oklahoma pot luck

What are Hoe Cakes?

DR Michael S - Hoe Cakes are basically a type of biscuit.  They derived their name from how they were originally cooked. Since they didn't have baking pans and skillets out on the prairie, they would cook them over an open flame/fire on the back of a (garden) hoe.

JohnG, Miss Frances Farmer was originally announced to be Bing's co-star in WAIKIKI WEDDING after their RHYTHM ON THE RANGE was such a smash.  But then she decided she wanted to do theatah.  :)

I have no favorite Gene Hackman roles. I have seen some of his films, but the only role that comes to mind is POSIEDEN ADVENTURE. Hackman didn't generally appear in the types of movies I usually watch.

I have my book group discussion this morning.  Since the plumber is here Craig will be taking me (an't wait until I can drive again) & he wants to go to the grower's market first.

Tuesday morning afternoon greetings!  I slept until almost 10am and was still the first one up in our household.  Getting ready to go celebrate Vera Bradley's (the company) 29th birthday at my local enabler.

Lower than normal temperatures are predicted for the weekend which will be nice for our theatre goers.....no rain until Saturday night....which is okay, too.

TOD:

Gene Hackman is my favorite and (in my opinion) the greatest living actor.  I just wish he hadn't retired.

Somebody once wrote (paraphrasing): "He may have made some bad films...but he never made a bad frame."

I agree with that paraphrasing...I certainly haven't seen all of Gene Hackman's movies, but I've always liked him in what he was in.  But the movies of his that I liked the most are:

The Birdcage
The Poseidon Adventure
Superman
Young Frankenstein

Camelot was probably the only show that I didn't really know before I did it, but didn't really like after I did it. :-\

Every other show that I didn't know before I performed in it, I really liked afterward...weird, huh?

I'm up - had eight good hours of sleep.  No time to do the four-mile jog before the noon meeting, so I'll do it this afternoon.

Good Afternoon!

Greetings from Green Room A (or is it B?). In any case...

It was a nice bus ride down from NYC, and once we got to Union Station, I had a nice leisurely lunch at Potbelly Sandwich Works. -They really do make some great sandwiches. -And they're finally in NYC too!
