Welcome, Julie! We're so happy that you have joined us!

And another cat lover, too! Bella is a beauty!

Thank you so much DR Edisaurus.
And to DR Ginny, Cillaliz, Sandra, Dan, JR, Jason, and everyone.

DR Sandra -  I Do like Cherry Coke.  But I rarely drink it.
I MUST have my coffee fix in the mornings, and then generally stick to water in the afternoon and evening.  Maybe a glass of wine now and then.

DR FJL - Did we see the same show?   ;)

The only time I whoop and holler during a show is when Jinx sings "Cry." But they want you to. Don't they?

I also think that the cast expects a standing ovation after a show. Sometimes they keep bowing and bowing, looking out at you like you are disappointing them.

Well - I am off now to watch the end of The Devil Wears Prada, which I started last night.

Then, I will head to Town Hall to help with getting things set up for the show toight - A Night at the Operetta, which will feature a performance by Milla and about a dozen other wonderful singers.

And then I will work on trying to resize a photo to use as my avatar - which I hope will amuse youse - especially DR elmore!

Later, all!  Have a good one.

It is quite dark and cloudy today, which made it nice for a walk at the sewage ponds. Then I cut the grass when I came home.

The most moving standing ovation I've ever seen, (and I missed being there to witness it in person by one vote from the Academy when we were on the short list for THE INTERNATIONALE) was when Randy Newman FINALLY won an Oscar after being nominated something like 17 times. The orchestra stood up and gave him a standing ovation. I had never seen the orchestra do that before---it made me cry.

I know it's not a theatrical event but it was a moment of drama!

I'm also sure that a lot of these musicians play sessions for Randy. I've been on a soundstage when he was recording a score and it was obvious how much he was loved and respected by the musicians. He also kept them in stitches!

I am listening to Johnny Desmond. How come I have never come across this guy before? What a swell crooner he is!

DR MBarnum - he was in the second Broadway show I ever saw - 40 years ago - Funny Girl, with Mimi Hines as Fanny.

I once began a musical version of Waltz Of The Toreadors.  And The VIPs.  And, of course, I did To Kill A Mockingbird.   I think those were my only adaptations or stabs at adaptations.

AAAAAAAAHAHAHAHHAAHHAHAHAHAHA.

There, I feel better now.

Forgot to mention yesterday (and maybe someone else already posted), but the author of Dead Man's Cell Phone was yesterday's "Weekly Reader" on NPR (is her name Sarah Ruhl or something like that?).  Anyhoo, I found it most unseemly that she didn't have a single BK book on her "to read" list, and was instead concentrating on trifles like Ulysses and the complete works of Shakespeare.

It's impossible not to get a SO in PDX.  Of course, they're putting on their coats and leaving as they're applauding, so that kind of takes the glow off.   ;D

I am thinking about buying an EXTERNAL DVD burner...drive thing...attachment device.

How do these things work?

Easy as pie, DR JRand.  They just connect through a USB port.  Then you might need to insert the CD that comes with it to install the drivers.

The drive will probably come with a copy of Nero or Roxio, but these are usually demo versions.  At some point you will want to buy the full feature version.

Also, some DVD burners come with LightScribe, with which you can burn labels directly onto LightScribe CDs and DVDs.  When I purchased my external DVD burner, I specifically looked for a model with this feature.  But after using it for over a year, my opinion of it is unenthusiastic.  It takes a least twenty minutes to burn a label, you need to download a plug-in to get good contrasts, and the labels are monochrome (not to mention that the LightScribe CDs and DVDs are pricier than regular discs.)  I rather just print my colorful paper labels.

And my black "Sharpie" marker, though inelegant, takes even less time than that!  :)

My "new" HP computer came with LightScribe, and I, too, am underwhelmed.  It doesn't take that long to inscribe on this model (usually about 2-3 minutes), but the contrast is really poor.
