Well, you've read the notes, the notes' buttocks were unseemly, and now it is time for you to post until the unseemly cows come home - they'll be bringing their buttocks with them.

And the word of the day is: MUCILAGINOUS!
-
Morning all.
That is all.
-
We had a very nice dinner last night at our dining room table.
-
We also found out the scanner no longer works. Oh, well. It's very old (in electronic time anyway). I think it's from around 2000 or 2001. It's recognized by the computer but it's not compatible. Anthony was thinking of getting a new one anyway.

Oatmeal, banana, walnuts and cinammon and coffee.

It's not raining here but they say it's supposed to rain on and off all day with temperatures in the 60s.
-
And that, my friends, is that.
Later, gaters.
-
have a geat day everyone

Good morning, all.
Up and ready to go to work, which seems too strange.

TOD:
Something Wild. (Glad to hear it holds up so well.)
Melanie Griffith:

Working Girl
Daniels:
Purple Rose of Cairo
The Squid and the Whale
Radio Days

Goodfellas
Another World (on TV)
-
All good choices for the TOD that I have to agree with.

I am still mad at what DR JOSE posted last night. But as MR BK said, that's the way it is today.
-
I am also beginning my exercise routine.
I bought a new suit.....and I am hoping I have one that fits to wear on Friday to the Mayor's Proclamation......I am sure one of my dark suits will fit.....but it would be nice to have a spring type suit to wear.

Good morning, all!
Is anyone having ordering problems on Amazon.com? Every time I've tried to place an order or to send an email message of distress, for the past two days, I've ordered and ended up on a page that says "Oops! We're very sorry, but we're having trouble doing what you just asked us to do. Please give us another chance--click the Back button on your browser and try your request again. Or start from the beginning on our homepage." WTF?
Last night I had truly weird dreams, one involving Dorothy Provine, and one having something to do with the subway and my frustrations with the MTA's refusal to address problems. All I remember now is taking a book and pounding on the window of the token booth in reaction to the clerk's lack of concern.
Today, more Appalachian arranging, which will occupy most of my week, with an occasional foray into EILEEN proofs.
-

DR Jose, you've become my Hero of the Week! The continual rudeness of audience members and the inability of management to control things is getting worse. Did you consider bringing an usher into the situation?
-
The Dorothy Provine dream has me listening to all of her recordings this morning, courtesy of DR JRand60 and someone on the cast recording list who provided a link to zip files of her Roaring 20s recordings.
-
Dorothy's recordings are great to listen to!

Did I send you the link to those cleaned up mp3 files? I think I did, but I'm too old to remember what I did five minutes ago.

Good Morning!
I'm up, I'm up... And it's a rainy, grey morning on the Upper East Side.

Thank You, DR elmore. It was a community-based organization, so the only "ushers" they had were the ones who were taking tickets at the desk set up in the lobby. Otherwise, I just let the music of Telemann, Handel and Beethoven calm me down. -And, as I mentioned last night, the orchestra really did a wonderful job. -And it was nice hearing a not so "individual" rendition of the Beethoven 5 like the one I heard Saturday night in Carnegie Hall.
-
bk - THREE BAGELS all in one sitting? Even I could not do that. Well... Maybe... ;)
I'm guessing you meant "mini bagels".
-
Monday morning greetings! The weekend's rain accompanied a cold front and all those windows we opened Friday are now closed. I'm not complaining - last week was too hot and humid for mid-May.

One of the missing rulers that vanished from my desk in Toyland on Friday never did materialize so I have to go to Staples this morning an purchase a couple. I'll have a nice walk in the rain.
I'm finding the Broadwayworld.com thread on the Kennedy Center production of FOLLIES quite fascinating. Several have written that the show will come to Broadway and Jan Maxwell will be handed the Tony Award automatically. After reading several comments on Maxwell's wooden dancing, I'm surprised she isn't doing "Ah But Underneath" instead of "Lucy and Jesse," and I would think the wooden dancing will negate a Tony. If the show comes in, and I doubt it after the unfortunate early demise of RAGTIME, I still think casting's the issue and Bernadette should be playing and dancing Maxwell's role. Of course, I think the director's a fool so there you have it.

DR jose, re: your incident with the girl last night.
I think the best course of action is first talk to her (like you did). But if she does it again go right to security or whoever is working there. Otherwise it will just end up making you crazy.
I can't believe her or her parents. It's one thing to be rude. But when someone points out your behavior and you still don't see it ...
That would have made me crazy.
-
DR Jose, I feel like I ate during the party. Not a ton of food. But my brother-in-law's ate made some of my favorite Filipino food. She makes these noodles i love. But my absolute favorite thing ever are these springrolls she makes. Love them. I know i had at least 2 or 3.
-
Anybody else watch SURVIVOR Last night?

DR Jose, if the 2nd trumpet player is listed in the program, you might see if his email is in the 802 directory and send him an email about the situation.
-
THAT would convince the girl that he is crazy!
-
Didn't they make some kind of announcement that all telephones and communications devices should be turned off during the performance?
We do that at PCPH and we're a barn in the middle of a field.
-
I received CAMELOT, UNTIL SEPTEMBER, and The New Adrianna book in the mail today.
The mailman had to make a special stop and pull up into my driveway to bring it all to me.
-
Yes DR ELMORE you sent me the Provine links - before she died.
-
Quiet around here today.

It was a non-union pick-up orchestra.
The venue was a high school auditorium.
I made my point.
The concert ended yesterday at 4:30.
Moving on...

To paraphrase Gertrude Stein, "an ass is an ass is a twit."
DR ArnoldBrockman, the only recording I have is Nick Lucas' but I would not be surprised to learn that Gertrude Lawrence recorded it.
-
DR BEN - when I got my new computer and my OLD scanner wouldn't work.....I got a little Canon printer/scanner for about $40 - and it's great. It also came with a USB cord.
The cartridges are about the same price as my HP printer - and unless you do a LOT of printing, you might think about. Takes up much less room, too.
-
As for the TOD, I think the only film I've seen Jeff Daniels in is "Something Different." I was a fan of his since the Broadway production of "The Fifth of July." Then I met him. A pig.
Ray Lotta: Goodfellas
Melanie Griffith: Working Girl

I was heading for the check out at Goodwill this morning, when some lady came in carrying a bag - I knew it was a return (Code 10) so I kept shopping for awhile.
When she finally finished, I headed for the register, but ANOTHER lady came in with a return and got in front of me.
She was returning some window shades.....and of course she had about 10 receipts from OTHER Goodwill stores....and she said well the girl at the register who rung up her purchase gave her a special price on the the shades, not what was on the tag....and I don't know what all.
Finally the manager gave her the money back....she said....the shades were PERFECT but there was not enough hardware to hang them on her porch.
Of course I wanted to say - go to WalMart and get $2 worth of hardware and you have NEW shades (they were Target Store overstock still in the box!) - but I didn't.
-
And the manager said "I have eleven skids of Target merchandise to put out...."
So there may be some bargains to find come Wednesday.

You can return things to Goodwill?
-
Within 30 days with your receipt!
-
I haven't shopped at Goodwill for years, but eons ago I found mint copies of the Time Life Swing Era record sets, in the hard cases with the hardback books, and that made me very happy.
-
Yes, now and then there is a treasure....and I have found LOTS of things for theatre productions....and now and then something nice for myself.
-
I've discovered I can do a Pottery Barn return, so I need to take a walk sahortly to the Post Office for a large Priority Mail carton.

Is there a repacking fee?

My Mom and I saw it together at the Herberger.

Quite a few years ago, a woman that I work with found a small vase at a local Goodwill for about $12. It turns out that it was an actual Tiffany vase. It was appraised for about $1200 and she sold it for $900!!

It's no wonder the US Postal Service is as screwed up and in trouble like every other asshole agency in this government. Has anyone tried to communicate with these fools? It's almost impossible.
My branch has now closed the window where mail is picked up, address changed, etc. with only one line now for every service. This means, if you go in to pick up a week's worth of held mail and the line for sending mail or buying stamps is out the door, you're screwed.
I need today a Priority Mail carton that's the same size as a large Fed Ex carton. But . . . no US Postal packaging matches that size. I cannot find any carton issued by the US Postal Service large enough to handle the two carpets I need to return to Pottery Barn. WTF?

I'm being driven insane trying to figure out the Gardenia show - I finally got all the song choices into the computer - but there's just so many great things to choose from and it's balancing the ups with the ballads and tailoring everything for the cast, which is now finally done - Juliana Hansen, Kim Huber, James Mulligan, Alet Taylor and Andy Taylor - all doing the music of Cy Coleman.

Well, it was a slow first day on the job. They handed me a badge, a parking pass and then a cellphone. I have lived 48 years without a cellphone (or least those years in which cellphones were available). Now I have to learn how to use it.

But I came home to "Camelot" and "Stages," both of which I'm looking forward to listening to. I had "Stages" on vinyl, but I haven't heard it in years. It will be like welcoming an old friend.

Is this a real full-time job o another temp one like the census?

Congrats on the successful first day! And wasn't there a Seinfeld episode where the entire episode was the four of them looking for a car in a car garage?
There was. I didn't find that episode funny and I didn't find tonight funny, either, but people keep laughing when I tell them.
I found every SEINFELD episode funny until the terrible last one, which was pathetic. I find your story funny, too!

Richard and I ventured out to Chipotle for dinner and I've been sorting, shredding, and filing ever since we returned.

Is Chipotle faux-Mex, like Olive Garden is faux-Italian?

Congratulations on Day 1, DR John G! I had to wander around in Kroger's parking lot the other day because I'd forgotten my car's location.

Pretty much, DR Elmore, but we liked it...

Mmmmm. I love Chipotle.

Well, I must be off. Pug, the artistic director of Theater Artists Olympia and director the recent Cannibal! The Musical! is going to have a reading of All the World's a Grave (http://www.amazon.com/All-Worlds-Grave-William-Shakespeare/dp/0452289866/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1305596260&sr=8-1) at her house to see (hear) if it's something that TAO might do. It's pretty long, but if you contact the author (assembler, really), he has four different versions that are shorter, depending how long you'd like it to be.
We'll see how it all goes!

I am still mad at what DR JOSE posted last night. But as MR BK said, that's the way it is today.
I kept wondering where the ushers were during this event. It doesn't seem like it should have been Jose's responsibility to try and get that young lady to stop texting.

It is starting out as a three-month job, but everybody today was talking as if it were permanent. I'd prefer the latter but will settle for the former.

Elmore, Chipotle is a great burrito place that has free-range, organic pork and sustainable produce on its menu. (I always get the salad version to avoid the carbs in the tortilla and the rice they use), but the food is really good. I love the carnitas.
It's definitely above Taco Bell.
-
Mmmmm. I love Chipotle.
Is it as good as Taco Bell?
I can eat reasonably heart-healthy at Chipotle - something I think not possible at Taco Bell. So, for me, it's better.
-
Picked up a half-gallon of raw milk the other day at the farmers market. It's so rich, it's almost like drinking cream.

Didn't they make some kind of announcement that all telephones and communications devices should be turned off during the performance?
We do that at PCPH and we're a barn in the middle of a field.
They do that everywhere. And, as you probably well know, it still doesn't make a difference to some people.
I think you should have called Miss Patti LuPone. I bet she could of stopped the problem.

John I once spent 30 minutes going crazy looking of my car before I remembered I was using my husband's car....

As for the TOD, I think the only film I've seen Jeff Daniels in is "Something Different." I was a fan of his since the Broadway production of "The Fifth of July." Then I met him. A pig.
Ray Lotta: Goodfellas
Melanie Griffith: Working Girl
Sadly, Mr. Daniels is that. But when he was on stage in FIFTH OF JULY - I was in love!

I'm sorry you've met so many pigs in your life, Elmore, and I'm sure you are, too.

We have loads of students come into town for the festival. At times the may be somewhat exuberant when walking around town, however, i can't remember a single incident of rudeness or obnoxious behavior. The are always very polite & appreciative during the shows.
I think the difference is that those students want to be at The Festival. It doesn't sound like this young lady wanted to be at the concert.

Lots and lots of ice cream.
Unbelievably good flavor from Ben & Jerry's
Late Night Snack. Vanilla bean ice cream with salty caramel swirl and fudge covered potato chip clusters.
Eat in bed late at night. ;D

BK kindly helped me set up an IV with Candy Clark, which has gone live:

Candy is a total sweetheart, the 10 minute chat I promised her stretched to about an hour and I think we could have continued yakking for a lot longer.

I have officially lost my voice. Only squeaks come out when I try to speak. :(
i'm sure you overused it yesterday. feel better vibes!
No it's not because of that. I've been fighting an illness and my throat has been hurting. And today I just couldn't talk.

Then I suspect it was the same photo I saw several months ago when this person showed up on my friends you might know list. I wish I'd never clicked.

I'm really glad I've been getting sleep because this day has been killer, trying to deal with the Gardenia show, getting sheet music (still have to go to storage for a few charts, but most of it is coming via e-mail), and tomorrow will be consumed with making CDRs for the cast. But at least that part is set and all we need now is a guest star.
-
Is Guy Haines available?
-
There was another wildfire today -- near Sunflower. You all have seen photos from there. Luckily, they got it out very quickly.

We need a gal guest for this. I'm working on an idea that would be fun.

And Jane-
What Are You Doing Up So Late?
-
Anyhoo...
When I headed out earlier, I meant to go down to MoMA to meet my friend, Michael. Somehow along the way, I ended up taking the train down to Union Square to check out the Greenmarket. Then Michael texted me, asking me where I was... Oops!
So I took the train back up to 57th Street, walked over to MoMA and we spent some time catching up. -He had just gotten back from two weeks in L.A. for a project.
-
And then it was dinner and then off to the screening of "Every Little Step".
It was great watching the documentary with Baayork Lee and Donna McKechnie in attendance in a room filled with admirers and alumni of A Chorus Line.
Afterwards, Baayork invited me and my friend, Yosh, out for a bite to eat and a drink. Where did we end up? Back at Joe Allen, of course! -And Joe Allen, himself, was in the house tonight. -As well as Russell Brand.
-
And...
I shall have to post more in the morning after a couple of hours of sleep.
Goodnight.
-
The interview came out very well - if only you'd known that I also worked with Candy in a short comedy film I directed - a coming attractions spoof that I made for my then annual movie marathons. It's me, Candy, and Alan Abelew. We do a noir spoof, a musical spoof (Candy and I do a complete musical number), a horror spoof, and a western spoof. It was that film that got me my gig on the HBO show Likely Stories. I have a copy of it somewhere on DVD now but I've lost track of where it might be. I need to look for it and maybe put it on the Nudie blu-ray as an extra, just for fun. We shot it in 16mm scope.
-
Joe was there??? In all these years I have never once met him.
-
Night
-
Isn't Tice Diorio going to be there too?
No, he wasn't. Trust me, Tyce was not there.
-
And now I need to head out for the rest of my day which includes a screening of "Every Little Step", the documentary about the revival of A Chorus Line. There will be a post-screening discussion with Baayork Lee, Donna McKechnie, John Breglio and Jay Binder (the casting director). Best of all, it's FREE (http://www.theatermania.com/new-york/news/05-2011/baayork-lee-donna-mckechnie-et-al-set-for-may-16-e_37234.html)!
Laters....
Very Good Movie About Auditioning For A Musical About Audtioning. The Actor who Auditions For Paul is Mind Blowing. ENJOY!
Jason Tam broke my heart each time I played for the revival. I have no idea how he retained his "consistency" from night to night during the monologue. -And, yes, watching his audition earlier tonight made me cry all over again.
-
Oh, that's right...
Where was I?
Ah, yes...
Liaisons
Goodnight.
