Well, you've read the notes, the notes did and did not skip, and now it is time for you to post until the skipping cows come home.

Ooooh...I'm first after bk. Guess my internal clock is all screwed up. I was exhausted when I got home and went to bed at 10PM. Greg had been gone for much longer than he had anticipated, so I came home to some very hungry kitties. He said they missed me and my "love cat" was wandering the house lookngi for me and complaining to him that I wasn't there. As soon as I sat down, I had two purring kitties in my lap.

One story Dustin told was about when he was working on Broadway (DEATH OF A SALESMAN) and found it  exhausting when he had to do two shows a day. He asked Lawrence Olivier how he did it, and then imitated Sir Lawrence's British accent: "Well, dear boy, you just need to decide on those days in which show you're going to wing it."

A matutinal posting in what seems like it will be a long day. I need to get the new computer and the old computer aligned and get taxes done (or at least continued).

TOD:

DVD -- Episodes of "Midsomer Madness"

CD -- "Do I Hear a Waltz?" both versions. I need some "Moon in My Window."

Car CD -- "The Girl Who Played with Fire." Two-thirds of the way through this mystery and all I want to do is drive around so I can hear more.

TOD

Seasons 3 & 4 of Mission: Impossible
I also like to try to guess which episodes that Barbara Bain won her three Emmys for and the episodes that Martin Landau, Peter Graves and Greg Morris were nominated for. The show also won Best Program for its first two seasons. The third season chose The Execution as its episode. One of the best and shows how the gas chamber worked.

Friday......

Yesterday people just kept arriving at the World of Wisdom, so we just kept working.....it was some time after 6 p.m. when we finally closed the doors - although my day was NOT as long as DR TCB's day....I did not have time to eat my lunch.....which was okay, too.

My Aunt Betty has been released from the hospice to go home and is in a condition very close to DR ELMORE's Uncle Bob....she is a very nice lady who worked hard all of her life....she and Uncle Al had three daughters.  Daughter Jenny was just a few months younger than I am....she had a hip deformity, but went to school and worked hard at a rehabilitation center until she passed away in her early forties....two other daughters Susie and Helen.....so we are thinking about them all today and dreading the phone call.

Betty is my mother's next to oldest sister.....sister Edith is still living.....

Good morning, all!

Thank you all for the vibes. My Uncle Bob died last night around 10:30 pm. This morning, after my trip to the Post Office, I will stop over to Holy Trinity Church and say a prayer for him.

My day is light; I'm pretty much stuck around the apartment while my super comes in to replaster my bathroom ceiling. I wil run a few errands before he shows up at 11.

Yesterday I had a wonderful lunch with Rob Berman, the FINIAN'S RAINBOW musical director, and I think there will be some projects down the pike for us and that's exciting.

TOD:
DVD:  A Colette fix: Cheri, Gigi
CD: MGM Soundtracks: Kismet, Brigadoon, The Band Wagon; Guy Haines, Liz Callaway
   VCR: Oy!

Was AN AMERICAN DREAM one of the Warner Archives DVDs?

I have only seen part of it, but it was.....unusual.

Flights Of Fantasy revealed that Mr Jack Larson and Ms Noel Neill were both clients of agent Mr Jack Pomeroy who represented Miss Allison Hayes for many years....perhaps she and Mr Larson met.

Vibes for Aunt Betty.

I also have an Aunt Betty, my mother's last surviving sister, and quite possibly the sweetest woman I have ever met.  In fact, my sisters and I used to wonder how Betty could have come from the same family as my mother, LOL.

For a very interesting and thought-provoking take on this question, DR Dan (the Man), I recommend the last 15 pages of Mary Doria Russell's Dreamers of the Day.  Well, I recommend the whole book, which I finished yesterday, but it concludes with an imaginative portrayal of the afterlife.

I am so very excited about having the weekend off. I have discs laid out for today (see Friday Media Check), and I'll also have fun scouring the to-watch shelf for selections for Saturday and Sunday. With basketball on, there will be next to no TV being recorded, so I'll be filling viewing hours with stuff off the shelf, and that makes me very happy indeed.

It is good we didn't buy the desk chair yesterday as it was too big.  My desk space is extremely small.

Speaking of my desk it is now clean & organized & Keith has been busy setting up the new computer.  Unfortunately the new speakers have limited compatibility (not mentioned on the box) & do not work with the computer.  The one request I had of a new computer is that I finally have good sound so I can listen to music.  I fear that will not be the case without speakers, not that there is really room on my little desk for them.

That's funny, because Betsy and I were just saying how this season's SURVIVOR has been more fun to watch than the last several seasons.

I think it might just be that I am losing interest in the show. I so look forward to THE AMAZING RACE each week, and ditto for BIG BROTHER when it is on during the summer, but when it comes to SURVIVOR it is always like I can put off watching it, and then I have to force myself to do so...or at least it feels that way.

Besides, with James having been eliminated from the game....well...he was awful good scenery!

THE DAILY LEVITY:

How many dogs does it take to change a light bulb? (see each breeds' answers below)

1. Golden Retriever: The sun is shining, the day is young, we've got our whole lives ahead of us, and you're inside worrying about a stupid burned out bulb?

2. Border Collie: Just one. And then I'll replace any wiring that's not up to code.

3. Dachshund: You know I can't reach that stupid lamp!

4. Rottweiler: Make me.

5. Boxer: Who cares? I can still play with my squeaky toys in the dark.

6. Lab: Oh, me, me!!!!! Pleeeeeeeeeze let me change the light bulb! Can I? Can I? Huh? Huh? Huh? Can I? Pleeeeeeeeeze, please, please, please!

7. German Shepherd: I'll change it as soon as I've led these people from the dark, checked to make sure I haven't missed any, and make just one more perimeter patrol to see that no one has tried to take advantage of the situation.

8. Jack Russell Terrier: I'll just pop it in while I'm bouncing off the walls and furniture.

9. Old English Sheep Dog: Light bulb? I'm sorry, but I don't see a light bulb! Is this a trick question?

10. Cocker Spaniel: Why change it? I can still pee on the carpet in the dark.

11. Chihuahua : Yo quiero Taco Bulb. Or . . ..."We don't need no stinking light bulb."

12. Greyhound/Saluki: It isn't moving? Who cares?!

13. Heeler/Australian Cattle Dog: First, I'll put all the light bulbs in a little circle...

14. Poodle: I'll just blow in the Border Collie's ear and he'll do it. By the time he finishes rewiring the house, my nails will be dry.

How many cats does it take to change a light bulb?

Don't get cute!! Cats do not change light bulbs! People change light bulbs. So, the real question is:

"How long will it be before I can expect some light, some dinner, and a massage?"

While I ate lunch, I watched last night's PROJECT RUNWAY.

Now, I DESPISE team competitions. I have said that before and will continue to say it every time PR decides to do one. They're never fair (though this one seemed more equitable than most have been in the past), and the person who lost deserved to lose. The team who won also did very good work with two striking pieces.

I would like to have seen more of the garment in one of the lower ranked teams, the one that the judges all liked. Didn't really get a chance to see it from all angles long enough to tell about its craftsmanship. It was quite striking at a glance (but SO similar to what this designer has been doing all season).

Next I watched the 1935 GO INTO YOUR DANCE. A wonderful song score for the movie even though Ruby Keeler, though just one year removed from her hit DAMES, looks like she had aged 10 years. She looked SO matronly, not at all the ingenue she was playing. (I guess being married to Al Jolson did that to her.)

I had totally forgotten that the great Helen Morgan was in this. She only got to sing one real number (we got to hear snatches of another), and she played a selfish, rather bitchy part, but it was good to see her in another movie from this same period of her life as SHOW BOAT which would come along the next year.

The person who went home DESERVED to go home.  I hated his snarky comments about his partner at the end...saying he hoped his partner wouldnt "throw him" under the bus.   Over what?  They worked professionally.  Only he can take responsibility for the look "he" did...and it was ghastly.  She did a wonderful garment...and -- again -- working "with" said person and following his input.  It was funny to hear Heidi suggest that "she" must have assumed leadership even thought that was "his" responsibility.  She did no such thing.  Just did her work and kept her mouth shut.

I had the work session, which went pretty quickly, actually.  Have spent some time talking to the pressing plant - I think they're going to handle sending out all the replacements (however many there are) - I'll simply start compiling addresses for them and/or simply forward each e-mail.  I don't really want anything to do with the actual making this right process.

I have exciting news.  I don't know if had anything to do with the fact I did not do my regular exercises this morning, oddly because I felt too good to do them.  I did about 10 minutes work before going to PT figuring it would be good for me & I always skip the afternoon ones when I have PT.

From now on I'm not doing any exercises before PT.  I had a fantastic session with a fraction of the usual terrible pain!!!

Sitting here now typing I'm experiencing the usual amount of pain, while not desirable is ok.  I can't express how relieved & grateful I was during therapy today.

This article has a lot more info than the short headlines I read this morning:

Another reason not to shop at Walmart.

Did you read about the Walmart store that announced over the loud speaker all Black people must leave the store?  They don't know if an employee or customer made the announcement.

The pressing plant is being stellar - replacement discs will go out next week, so if anyone here has a problem disc (I think only Druxy did), then e-mail us at kritzerland at gmail dot com, and be sure to include your address in the e-mail.  I'll be forwarding each e-mail received directly to the plant and they will take it from there and I don't have to worry about anything.

My mom and I enjoyed today's spring-like weather by going to the library, Dorothy Lane Market, Olive Garden, and Bern's Garden Center.  She was exhausted when I took her home.  I stopped at Kroger and did our shopping, came home and made pizza for dinner and now I'm exhausted.

Congrats on your discovery, Jane!

My schedule is all screwed up. I had wanted to go to the Library of Congress on March 29-30 to finish up my Herbert photocopying and I have to be at a meeting on March 30 at 2 pm! Damn it to hell. I need at least two days to achieve what I need to accomplish and I wanted to do the work while the people I never want to see again are in Manhattan recording. Damn, damn, damn!

Thank you Ginny.  It may not have been so good for my therapist, I talked almost the entire time ;D  I only had to breathe deeply, or hold my breath, into the pain a few times.  Sometimes when he releases a stretch I have more pain as he moves my arm back.  He commented I didn't flinch or groan once during the releases :)

That's funny, because Betsy and I were just saying how this season's SURVIVOR has been more fun to watch than the last several seasons.

I agree!  I'm loving watching my favorite Boston Rob!

re: last week's SURVIVOR

That's funny, because Betsy and I were just saying how this season's SURVIVOR has been more fun to watch than the last several seasons.

I think it might just be that I am losing interest in the show. I so look forward to THE AMAZING RACE each week, and ditto for BIG BROTHER when it is on during the summer, but when it comes to SURVIVOR it is always like I can put off watching it, and then I have to force myself to do so...or at least it feels that way.

Besides, with James having been eliminated from the game....well...he was awful good scenery!

When was James eliminated?

Wasn't he eliminated last week? Or am screwy? OH, wait, that was Tom who was elminated wasn't it. Never mind then. I guess I will still want to watch...although I did really like Tom, as well.

Right, james was not eliminated, although he should have been. IMO, Candace and JT are idiots (although i knew JT was an idiot before last week). But i really thought Candace was smarter.

It's so crazy that people are bike riding in the middle of March. Today my niece and her friend took their bikes out.  My niece has training wheels. But she is pretty good. She can go straight and stop.

I asked my sis if i could take her out with me on the bike path i go on. She wanted to last year but she was too little. My sis is not sure yet. But i think she could do it. The part i would take her on is a bike path that is not near any road (in the middle of a grassy area). Although there are 2 places where you have to cross roads with minimum amounts of cars. But there are crosswalks there. And i could stop and take her across.

Then I watched the very brutal, unforgiving TO LIVE AND DIE IN L.A. on Blu-ray. I remembered that William Petersen was a hunk back when this was filmed (he's basically poured into his jeans), but I had forgotten that in one specific scene he goes full frontal.

Then I skimmed through today's ONE LIFE TO LIVE. Yes, Oliver was on again, but his three scenes were seconds long. Such a pity.

I've made no decisions at all about my viewing choices for tomorrow, but it's going to come from the to-watch bookcase in the front hall since I haven't touched any of the discs in that in a long, long time.

For Blu-ray, I may watch DOG DAY AFTERNOON. It's been here quite a long time without getting opened, and I always loved it.

Apparently, there was some MAJOR traffic on the New Jersey Turnpike this afternoon.  I was checking Twitter for some traffic tweets, and there were reports of a 15-mile back-up due to an accident... Which explained why the driver got off the Turnpike at one point and took the local roads for a bit.  Alas, there was still some traffic, but by the time we got back on the Turnpike, there was no traffic, so I guess he drove around all of it.

Good evening.  Tonight I went to Best Buy to replace my XM radio.  My old one died.  I couldn't get any reception.  I was supposed to do something up update it years ago, but didn't.  Anyway, it took me about 2 1/2 hours to install it in the car and get the subscription transferred from the old radio the new radio.  But, it's done and the new radio is really great.  Cheaper and better than the old one, lol

DR elmore - Btw - When I was having dinner with my friend, Jennifer, the other night, I mentioned that you had seen and enjoyed the production of "Naughty Marietta" you had seen at the "Fame" school. She immediately knew what and who - the director - you were talking about.  She LOVES the director, Nathaniel Merchant, and said that he really knows how to make operetta fresh, accessible and attractive without resorting to extraneous updating.

I'm so overtired.  I really must not watch four episodes of Adam 12 before I fall asleep - last night we finally hit some Valley locations, including a great drive down my stretch of Ventura Blvd. (between Laurel Canyon and Whitsett) - it was fun to see the California Pizza Kitchen's little mini-mall as the parking lot it once was, and Art's Delicatessen had a very nice shot.
