We have returned from dinner at the Cheesecake Factory (complete with cheesecake to go), we took the Frankenguest.  He was gracious and said thank you.  Which was the first time I heard that all week.  Sorry... not soon enough.

Making ketchup is very exciting - I've never met anyone who has done such a thing.

They make it in the first scene of "Meet Me in St Louis" - or the maid was making it, anyway.

Yes, that's right, but I didn't meet Marjorie Main.

What is confit anyway?

Confit is a generic term for various kinds of food that have been immersed in a substance for both flavor and preservation.

George!  How was WICKED?

I can't believe I forgot to report!  In a word..."Wonderful" (a Wicked reference ;))!  It was a really good production.  Both the leads were very good.  Dee Roscioli played Elphaba and her bio says that she's, "...thrilled to return to the 1st National Tour of Wicked....She holds the distinction of having played Elphaba in more performances than any other actress."

Glinda was played by Patti Murin, who was the lead in Lysistrata Jones and was in the original Broadway production of Xanadu

Madame Morrible was played by Kim Zimmer, "best known as Reva Shayne on 'Guiding Light' where she received 4 Lead Actress Emmy Awards along with 11 nominations."  (I've never heard of her.)

And Tom McGowan played the Wizard.  He's best known (to me) as Kenny, the station manager on "Frasier."  All of them were very good.

Last night's performance was a benefit for Washington United for Marriage, "a coalition of more than 500 organizations, congregations, unions, and businesses working together in coalition to defend civil marriage for loving, committed same-sex couples."

Washington's governor, Christine Gregoire, was there and gave a curtain speech in support of same-sex marriage.  She signed into law the bill that made same-sex marriage legal in Washington state, but opponents got enough signatures to put it on the ballot for a vote.  Now, even though it looks like there's enough support to pass Referendum 74, you never know how it'll turn out until all the votes are actually counted. :-\

The theater was packed.  There were, of course, a LOT of gay couples and groups that were there for the fund raising event.  Washington United for Marriage was selling buttons and pins and bumper stickers and t-shirts and lawn signs.  I bought THIS button and a pin that's not on the website.  I've also donated $ through the website. :)

But, even though I saw it before with Shoshana Bean and Megan Hilty (Washingtonians, both!), I still loved the show.  I wasn't bored, I wasn't thinking about the technical side of the production, etc.  I was just enjoying the whole show.  I'm glad I got to go. :D
